PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Heitman: Our chapel offering this quarter is going to help the New Life Trails Ministry. This ministry uses animal therapy for anyone from young children to veterans. It's a great little ministry right here in Ponca! They're working to add restrooms for the public at their current facility, and we would like to help them reach their goal! We're still focusing on letters L, K, & U. Continue working at home with your child to enhance their learning of letters and letter sounds! Our class will be going to see Stephen Fite, a children's musician, in concert at the -2-

Poncan Theater on March 7th. Permission slips were sent home last week. Please return those by this Friday, February 1st. Our Bible words this week are "[Jesus said] I am the light of the world" John 9:5. We continue learning how to let our light shine for Him! KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: Yesterday was the 100th day of school! We had a special snack and we counted a bunch of things to 100! This Friday will be show and tell. We will have a special show and tell. Have a wonderful week!! FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: Stay warm in this cold weather, a winter coat is a must these days! We are really going into new material that requires time to think, process, and respond to more complex questions. It is really necessary to be organized, study and practice for what being asked of us. I am seeing amazing progress to make AR Goals early! Many have found that without nightly reading at home, it can be difficult to make our AR goal. Continue practicing the multiplication table; we are now doing long division & exponents that require exceptional math fluency. Help the kids to be patient with these specific and detailed processes. FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: After a short week last week due to Monday off and a field trip Friday, this week promises to be full. We have a regular reading and spelling unit. We took three tests last week so the only tests are Friday and they are reading and spelling. I so enjoyed our field trip on Friday! Exploration Place was amazing, and God gifted us with the beautiful snow. And ice skating was fun! The kids were well-behaved, and I enjoyed visiting with parents. Thanks again, parents, for making this trip possible. Blessings!

"FLY" NIGHT TONIGHT! in the gym! Middle school through high school students are welcome to join us for some fun and fellowship! We will meet each Wednesday evening from 5:30-7 in the FLS gym. Parents are invited to join our 5:30 Bible study during this time. Hope to see you all there, and bring a friend or two!! Mrs. Harbeson: Hello, Everyone! I hope you are all doing well! We have a lot of activities going on at First Lutheran! Monday night was 8th grade night for our basketball players and cheerleader. Thank you Raecyn Fisher, Bryant Rice, Titus Vickery, Jonathan Vickery, and Caroline Gates for your hard work and dedication to our school. We send you many blessings! We also have a few returning and new student council members for the second semester. Our 6th grade representatives are Reed Jackson, Brynn Vincent, and Rachel Lawson. 7th grade reps are Kaylie Thomas, Kylie Flowers, and Gia Patel. 8th grade stuco representatives are Jonathan Vickery and Bryant Rice. I look forward to working with our group this semester as we plan some fun events to finish up the school year. Finally, if you can believe it, midquarter is a week from today! That's right! Next Wednesday will mark the half-way mark of the 3rd quarter. I encourage everyone to fight the winter slumps and work hard to achieve your academic goals! That's all for now, please keep Ms. Connie in your prayers as her mother passed away last weekend. We love you, Connie, and may God give you peace and comfort. Mrs. Hanson: This Thursday all students have the opportunity to serve the community by serving dinner at the Friendship Feast at 1st Christian Church. If your student is willing/able to help, please send a note to school addressed to me letting me know. The more volunteers the better. Thanks in advance! Continuing on in content, each class is moving smoothly through and will soon be ready to test, probably next week. Mousetrap cars need to be 50% completed by Thursday. 50%, to me, means the car is finished and functions, but is not complete because it is not as perfect as it could be and is being adjusted, tweeked, to make it the fastest, or go the longest, or boomerang more accurately. Ms. Pacey: I am proud of all of our 8th grade athletes! 7th grade PreAlgebra has a test this Friday. They have a packet to review everything we have been working on this chapter. Course 2 (6th and 7th grade) took their test yesterday, and they can make corrections until Friday. Wish our MathCounts team good luck! Mr. Covert: We’re almost done with January! I hope that everyone is going well and staying healthy with all the bugs going around right now. Classes are going to continue where we left off. 8th grade is wrapping up the Civil War this week, and then we’ll start working on the US expanding to the west. As for 7th grade, we’re going to be starting in on South America with a chapter on Brazil. In 6th grade, this week is the end of our unit on Rome, and we’ll start talking about the spread of Christianity in the days of the early church on through the Middle Ages. -4-

7th grade parents, our DC fundraiser is this weekend, Thursday-Sunday. A FastDirect message was sent with a link to the sign up sheet on Monday evening. The money earned will be split among the families who work the tournament, so if you need to fundraise for our trip, sign up! I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we move through this school year and into the month of February. Blessings on your week!
