PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: Wish List – We praise God for all the projects that have been completed (or are in process) during the past year through a variety of individuals, organizations, and sources. Here is a list of a few of the items: meat slicer; security alarm and camera in Early Childhood; reams of Paper and new copy machine; small basketball uniforms; awning over back of Early Childhood building; woodchips in both the school and Early Childhood playground; push mower; sink and water heater being installed in the concession stand; and the School Debt paid off. All of these were completed through a variety of gifts, donations, and fundraising efforts including but not limited to: Delmar Dixon; Kenny & Michele Jean; Paul & Shelly Schatte; Jim & Janice Stieber; PTL; former and current church members, school families and businesses. We praise God for these gifts. Current Wish List – Now we are looking at raising funds to add a ramp to the West end of the Early Childhood hallway ($6000); replace our used Elementary and Middle School copy machines that are over six years old at $3500 each (or $7000 for two), awning over sidewalk between Middle School and Cafeteria ($8000); Security Entrance Doors into the Elementary and Middle School Building ($5300); Security Monitor System ($4000); replace the North Windows on the Early Childhood classrooms ($???); Preschool age outside play equipment at the Early Childhood Center for $7000 (plus $5000 for wood chips or padding). YOUTH: 7th & 8th grade youth group kick-off night at First Lutheran Church will be Sunday, October 5th! Food, fun, and fellowship from 5:45 to 7:15 PM at the youth house. Feel free to bring a friend! Mrs. Harbeson: Welcome back, Everyone! The middle school students definitely racked up a lot of travel miles last week. Camp Lutherhoma was fantastic, as usual, and our 6th graders had an awesome time! Thank you, thank you to the following people: Tomi Faulkner, Brenda Kirchenbauer, Linda Jantz, Kara Wells, Bruce Fuller, John and Darleanna Warnecke, Chad Cunningham, Dave and Nikki Patel, and Mrs. Goll. These parents and grandparents are the reason that we were able to get to Lutherhoma, participate in all the activities, eat all kinds of fabulous food, and then return home safely. As I always say...our parents are awesome! I truly appreciate every one of you! Now that we're all back, it's time to get down to business. We will be at the end of the first quarter in just a few weeks. Book jackets for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are due Monday, October 6. Please check out my bulletin board for further announcements. That's all for now...blessings on the rest of your week! Mrs. Hanson: 6th and 7th Grade will be testing this Friday over their current chapters. Please use the book reviews, any completed worksheets, and vocabulary to study for the test. 8th Grade will test next Tuesday. 8th Grade will also be leaving campus next Wednesday to retrieve more insects for their collection. The insect project is due next Friday and is a test grade. Many bugs from different groups are needed and we have been identifying a few each day. Extra credit is available to any student who writes a one page essay over their favorite insect. Cheerleaders will have pictures next Tuesday, please make sure uniforms are washed and ready to go. Information will be going home tonight. Mrs. Goll: It’s good to have our middle school students safely back home after their travel adventures of last week. We have just two weeks left in this quarter. Overall math progress and grades are good. 6th graders are testing over chapter 2 “Introduction to Algebra” and will begin studying decimals. 7th graders are testing over decimal operations and will move into data and statistics. Pre-algebra students are studying solving different types of equations and algebra students are studying multi-step equations. I am available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 for those students who would like extra assistance. Keep on “Seeking Him first…” Mr. Covert: Hello to everyone! We’re back from Washington DC and ready to get back to it. This week, the 8th grade will be working on their DC projects to have them finished up by Friday. The 7th grade will be focusing on Canada’s physical and human geography, and the 6th grade will be going through the ancient kingdoms of Africa. We’re only 2 weeks removed from the end of the quarter! It’s hard to believe it’s gone by as quickly as it has. God’s blessings on the rest of your week!
