Make sure you are aware of your child's grades before they run out of time to make necessary improvements. Low scores on Middle School report cards will put them in jeopardy of Cheer and Basketball for the next quarter. Keep praying for your child's growth and success. Wish List – We praise God for all the projects that have been completed (or are in process) during the past year through a variety of individuals, organizations, and sources. Here is a list of a few of the items: meat slicer; security alarm and camera in Early Childhood; reams of Paper and new copy machine; small basketball uniforms; awning over back of Early Childhood building; woodchips in both the school and Early Childhood playground; push mower; sink and water heater being installed in the concession stand; and the School Debt paid off. All of these were completed through a variety of gifts, donations, and fundraising efforts including but not limited to: Delmar Dixon; Kenny & Michele Jean; Paul & Shelly Schatte; Jim & Janice Stieber; PTL; former and current church members, school families and businesses. We praise God for these gifts. Current Wish List – Now we are looking at raising funds to add a ramp to the West end of the Early Childhood hallway ($6000); replace our used Elementary and Middle School copy machines that are over six years old at $3500 each (or $7000 for two), awning over sidewalk between Middle School and Cafeteria ($8000); Security Entrance Doors into the Elementary and Middle School Building ($5300); Security Monitor System ($4000); replace the North Windows on the Early Childhood classrooms ($???); Preschool age outside play equipment at the Early Childhood Center for $7000 (plus $5000 for wood chips or padding). MIDDLE SCHOOL Mrs. Harbeson: Greetings, All! Just one week from today marks the last day of the first quarter. We have a few things to get done before we get that much deserved break. Oral book reports began today for the 7th grade. They will begin tomorrow for the 6th grade and on Friday for the 8th grade and will continue for all classes through Monday of next week. All classes will be grading folders next Wednesday so if you have any loose language papers laying around, get them organized and put in your folder. I will be handing out the folder rubric next Monday. Folders are worth a test grade, so get yours ready! If your student hasn't taken his AR test on his book report book, that needs to be done by this Friday. The last day to take any AR tests is next Wednesday. Good job to everyone who has been checking out my bulletin board! I've been able to give lots of extra credit this past quarter. I'll continue to do that throughout the year. If you aren't using FastDirect yet, call Mrs. Connie in the office, and she'll help get you set up. That's all for now! Blessings on the rest of your week! Mrs. Hanson: 8th Grade will be taking a "field" day Thursday to collect insects one last time. 7th Grade and 6th Grade have started new chapters. Remember to keep in mind that all students are doing more exploring and discovery than homework. Anything asked to be completed at home is an extension of instruction. Online "homework" is not busy work or work to help retention, it maybe new or more in depth information. Please check my website for more information; trust me it will be worth it. Mrs. Goll: We’re winding down the quarter. Many of our students have excellent grades; hard work, attention to detail, and handing work in on time are keys to good grades. Way to go, you fine Scholars! Sixth graders are working on scientific notation; seventh graders are completing work on data displays and beginning to work on number patterns; pre-algebra and algebra students are working on more complex equations. Some of the prealgebra students are struggling with the process of distribution: 8(x + 7)=8x + 56. Ask your student to explain the process to you. Have a great week seeking Him first… Mr. Covert: Hello! We have reached the last full week of the quarter and we’re working hard to make sure we get in what we need to get in. This week, the 8th graders are going to be looking at the first colonies and seeing exactly what the colonies looked like before the Revolution. 7th grade is finishing up Canada, and we might take a

peek at Mexico before break. The 6th graders are wrapping up Mesoamerica, and will be getting a brief start on the Greeks before we get to fall break. God’s blessings on the rest of your week!

First Lutheran Church & School—Growing up into Jesus, Reaching out with Jesus, Walking together in Jesus

DON’T THROW THAT AWAY!!: First Lutheran School collects, and benefits from, donations of used/empty ink cartridges, old cell phones, BoxTops for Education, Campbell’s soup labels, and Coke points! Do you throw use ink or toner cartridges @ work? Do the kids on your child’s team drink Powerade’s or Dasani water (with Coke points under the lid)? Possibly your youth group had a lock-in and served cans of Coke, Sprite, Minute Maid or Fanta, (with Coke points on the inside flap of the box they came in?) Those 3-ring binders that your school office uses may have BoxTops points on the labels! Please send all of these items to school with your child or drop them off at the school office, and your school will benefit from it! We can use the proceeds/points from these companies to purchase playground balls, classroom and office supplies, and discounts on our toner/ink needs, which all helps to keep your costs down! THANKS for your help!
