approaching (3 weeks); some of us are very behind. Please ask your child where they are and help them by reading at home each night. Book Reports: Book Reports are due on Friday, please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing them all. FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Sibley: I hope that you all had a blessed Thanksgiving, and a well rested break. Good food, friends, and a break from normal routine to give thanks and prepare for the coming of the Lord will always equal a fantastic time. If choosing to order from book orders, they are due on Wednesday the 9th, so we may have books in our hands by the 18th. Look for information in this week’s Friday Letter about our Gift Exchange. Keep reading for Book It & AR. So far we have read 12,698 pages! We are continuing to make progress, and need to continue to make more. Please continue to look over daily student work for simple mistakes; let’s make sure that we don’t go to Christmas break too early! FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I did. Now it's time to put our hearts and minds into finishing up strong these last three weeks before Christmas break. The first two weeks we are preparing for our Christmas program. We will continue to have regular spelling and reading; therefore there will be a test in both on Friday. I know there are many activities happening at this special time of the year. There is much to take our focus away from the true reason for the season, which is Jesus. In this Advent season turn your hearts to the manger. Let Jesus fill your hearts with joy and peace. As we sing in one of our Christmas program songs...."Lift up your eyes to the heavens; open your ears to the message of peace and good will...Jesus has come! God's only Son! Welcome and worship the King!"

ELIGIBILITY: Students involved in extra-curricular activities will have their grade status evaluated at the beginning of every three weeks. A student who has a grade below 70% in any subject will be put on probation. During that time, the student will be given an opportunity to raise the grade above 69.9%. The student must take action to raise the grade. Failure to raise the grade will result in suspension from the extra-curricular activity until the next three week grade check. After the first probationary period, a student will be suspended from the extra-curricular activity when any grade drops below 70%. Suspensions are enforced and lifted on the first school day of the week. (Any students failing a subject on their report card will be suspended from extra-curricular activities until all grades are passing at the three week check point.) Mrs. Goll: The Thanksgiving Break was a great treat for all of us. Now we’re in the very busy, basketball, preChristmas time! Students have a lot to juggle and it’s especially important that they use their class time wisely. Most students who focus during the class period will have very little homework. Good luck, Cardinals, with your games. God bless you all as you focus on Christ and the reason we celebrate this most important date. Mrs. Harbeson: "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." - Isaiah 9:6 Welcome Back! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break and are ready to celebrate the Advent season! Advent is a season of preparation for the coming of our Savior. I encourage you and your family to fit in some quiet, reflective time this season to prepare your hearts for the birth of Jesus Christ. If you don't already have a church home, I invite you to join one of the worship services at First Lutheran. Worship service days and times will be announced in the weekly Chatter. In school news, the final three weeks of the nine weeks and semester will go quickly. I can't express enough how important it is to stay current on all your work. Please come talk to your teachers if you miss any days so you can stay on top of things. Our cheerleaders and varsity basketball players will be traveling to Kansas City this weekend for the Hope Tournament. Please pray for everyone's safe travels. Keep on the lookout in the next few weeks for announcements concerning Christmas parties. That's all for now. Blessings on your week! Mrs. Hanson: 6th and 7th Grade will be testing over their chapters this Thursday. We have been reviewing all week and both groups are ready! 8th Grade has begun a new chapter on vertebrates. Since humans are vertebrates, we will also be including some human anatomy in this chapter. All grades will have a comprehensive final the last week before Christmas break. Almost an entire week will be dedicated to reviewing everything. 3

Growing up Into Jesus, Reaching Out with Jesus, Walking Together in Jesus

Shout out to the basketball players and cheerleaders traveling to Kansas City this weekend: Safe travel, play hard, and GO CARDINALS!! Mr. Covert: Advent is upon us and as we continue giving thanks we look forward to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ! I pray that everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving as we set our sights on the end of the quarter. We’re picking up right where we left off in class. 8th grade is looking at the policies and actions of our third President, Thomas Jefferson. In 7th grade, we’re about to wrap up Central America, and we’ll start taking a look at South America later this week. In 6th grade, we’re talking about Alexander the Great, and his actions that spread the culture of Greece across nearly the entire known world. I pray that the Lord continues to bless us all as we go about doing His work!
