We are now working on our last 9 weeks words. Please keep working hard on all these words each night. I am so proud of your children; they are turning into sensational readers! Have a marvelous week! FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Happy Spring! I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. We have one more quarter left, so keep working hard. We have a lot to do to make sure that we are ready for 2nd grade. It's very important that you keep working with your child on their reading. Thank you for all the parents that went on our field trip with us before break. I know the kids had a great time! Memory for Friday is the 4 th Commandment - Honor your father and your mother. Please return your pictures if you are not buying them or a payment if you purchase the pictures. Please have these turned into me by Friday. 3rd quarter report cards were sent home today. Please sign one of the copies and return back to me by Friday. Have a great week! SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: What a wonderful week! Our Awesome God provides just what we need just when we need it! To God be the glory! Now just 9 short weeks and we'll be third graders. Memory work for Thursday is Matthew 28:19-20, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Book reports are due March 31. Book orders are due March 31. I'm proud to report that all second graders reached their AR goals. We all start at zero to begin this quarter. Time to READ, READ, READ! Special thanks to Mr. Heitman and his partner for teaching us about wind energy. It was great and we learned so much. Happy Spring! 2
THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: Happy Spring! I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break. I know it could of been a bit longer. We only have one more quarter left. This one is going to be busy; field trip in May, Musical in April, and also ITBS testing. This week: Memory: Matthew 11:28, due on Friday. Also, on Friday is a spelling and reading test. Social Studies: We are taking a new class test to finish up our last unit. We will be starting another one in a few weeks, after testing. Math: Our next group of facts is X10. These are due by next week. Pictures: If you have yet to return your pictures please do so, or send in money. Thank you! Test Prep: You have all seen the test prep packets. Please do not stress, as we will be doing most of that in class. You may have a page or two for homework, please check over these and see if your child has any questions. We will be spending the next two weeks getting ready for these tests. I will be asking for families to bring snacks for that week (no peanuts); and also for you all to write your child a note of encouragement. Report Cards: These should be in your child's bag today. Please sign and return these as soon as possible. If you have any questions or want to meet with me please let me know. Have a wonderful week! FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: Welcome to our newest paragons Paige, Landon, & Victor. We are all having a great time getting to know them. What a wonderful and relaxing spring break we all had! We took time to unwind, recoup, and prepare for the final quarter of the year. We have new AR goals. Ask scholars what those goals are. Help the kids to stay on top of their new goal by reading chapter books daily. We all want to finish the year out strong, & to do our best. Scholars need to make sure that they are being thorough in all work. Please look at grades with students on a weekly basis to help students do their best. ITBS Testing is coming up very soon. Please help the kids to be ready and prepared for this week. We will be preparing prior. Cardinal Bucks are being earned daily. Ask the kids how to fill in their transaction registrar, they are doing great. Take time to worship our Lord and Savior as he died on the cross to save our sins. We would be nowhere without Him. FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: It sounds like everyone had a splendid spring break, even if we stayed home and just enjoyed the down time. I know families are so busy keeping up with schedules. By spring break everyone seems to need a time to just say, "AHHHH!" We have a full schedule this week. We are working on the musical, so that takes up quite a bit of class time. The only two tests we have are spelling and reading on Friday. I have assigned books to read for a book report for language. The rough draft is due May 5 and the final copy May 12. We will also discuss what is expected of oral presentations for the president report this week. Report cards come home today. I hope none of you are surprised by grades, as I'm sure you kept up with them on Fast Direct. However, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me. I am always happy to discuss your child's progress with you. Have a blessed week as we continue on our somber journey through this Lenten season.

Mrs. Harbeson: Hello from Valparaiso! As you all are reading this, I am watching and cheering on our basketball boys in Indiana. Please keep us all in prayer for safe travels, good sportsmanship, and a fun experience. While I'm away, Mrs. Hercyk will be covering my classes. I truly appreciate how flexible and awesome Mrs. Hercyk is...she can do it all! I will be back at school on Monday, March 27. We're finally in our last quarter of the school year, and it will go by quickly! We have a lot going on before we end our year. You can keep on top of things by checking out my webpage, harbolanguage.blogspot.com. I'll post field trip dates, student council dates and activities, homework, and test dates. I encourage all of you to stay up-to-date when it comes to school work. The harder you work now, the more you'll enjoy those lazy days of summer! Blessings to you all! Mrs. Pacey: Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone enjoyed their time to relax. Only one quarter left of the school year. Time is flying by! Good luck to the varsity boys basketball team as they travel to nationals this week! Mrs. Hanson: Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope it was everything you needed it to be! Now that you're back, good bye and good luck to our boys basketball team heading to nationals! We will be rooting and praying for y'all. With teams gone, and since it's been so long since I have been in the classroom, we will be reviewing this week. I want y'all to show me how much you have learned! We will be creating videos and having in-class reviews this week. 7th grade is in charge of the track meet concessions and graduation dinner. If you would like to organize or help with either or both of these events, please let me know as soon as possible. Let's have a fantastic 4th quarter! Mr. Covert: Welcome back to the fourth quarter! Also, welcome to spring! I pray that everyone got a little rest and relaxation and is ready to hit the ground running in this quarter. We’re going to be picking up right where we left off. In 8th grade, we’re going to finish up the Progressive Era before we take a look at the US re-emerging on the global stage as the first World War engulfs Europe. 7th grade is going to continue our tour of Asia by taking a look at the Central Asian nations that lie just south of Russia. In 6th grade, we’re going to wrap up the medieval era before we start the Renaissance and begin the modern era. 7th grade parents, we will be having our first DC meeting on Tuesday, April 4, at 5:30 PM, in the social studies classroom. I’ll have pricing, a sample itinerary, and be able to answer most of your questions at that time. If you can’t attend but still want the information, I’ll be sending out a Fast Direct message the next day with the sheets attached, and the important information covered. Keep our varsity basketball boys in your prayers this week as they travel to Nationals in Indiana! They’ve worked their tails off on and off the court this season, and they deserve the trip! Make us proud, and to God be the glory! I pray that God blesses this school family as we go through this Lenten season and travel with Jesus on the way to the cross, and eventually, the empty tomb. Blessings on your week!
