Summer daycare is full. Thank you to everyone who registered! PTL SEALED BID AUCTION: Winners of the sealed bid auction are attached to this Chatter. We didn’t get any bids to name the cafeteria, so we will continue taking bids on that through May 3. ELEMENTARY MUSICAL – This Friday morning at 8:45 a.m. and evening at 6:30 p.m. in the gym, the children in grades 2-5 will present the spring musical "Not Your Average Joe." The fifth graders have the acting parts and the rest of the children are in the choir. It is optimum to have everyone present for these performances. Even if your child doesn't have an acting part, he/she is a very important part of our presentation. Children may dress in nice play clothes. The setting is a beach, so flip-flops and bright clothes would be awesome. We have spent many hours preparing this meaningful program. I promise you, you will leave blessed! Mrs. Schatte On this note, Sunday, April 30, is Friendship Sunday at First Lutheran Church. We're asking all children in grades 2-8 to be present to sing at the church service at 10:45 a.m. I hope you are able to attend. I'm sure after you hear the children sing on Friday that you'll want to hear some of the songs again. :}. FRIENDSHIP SUNDAY: FLCS is sponsoring a special Friendship Sunday on April 30. All students in grades

2-8 will sing for church that day. We'll have just one service at 10:45. Sunday School will be at 9:30 and all children and parents are invited. The adult Sunday School period will include a Q & A about the Lutheran church and school. We pray you can join us. "5TH SUNDAY" YOUTH NIGHT THIS SUNDAY. Meet at the youth house for dinner (salad/taco/quesadilla bar), a movie, a game of Sardines and a short devo. 4-7 pm, see you there! BAND – Mrs. Jones: Remember the practices at St. Mary’s! Check the letter sent home for the dates. Thank you. TRACK DAY CONCESSIONS - Would you be willing to donate any size bottles and flavors of pop, gatorade, and water? We could also use Taco Meat. THANKS for your assistance in advance. A list of items available for purchase at the track meet is attached to this Chatter. Thanks for supporting our 8th Grade trip to Washington D.C.! TRACK MEET MAY 5!: Track Day is scheduled for Friday - May 5. We will not be able to use the high school track this year because of the construction occurring. We have studied numerous locations and we will do a simplified version on our property. That means no ball throw or spelling bee, relays in the parking lot, dashes in the grass, and new times and locations for everything. It will be an exciting day. On this day, the kids will spend a lot of time outside, so be sure to apply and send sunscreen for the kids to apply during the day, and send a jacket if it is a cool morning (with their name on it of course). Our 7th graders will be running a concession stand, with the proceeds going to fund their trip to Washington D.C. next year. Be sure to send

money with your student if they wish to purchase lunch or drinks/snacks at the concession stand. If you have doctor appointments scheduled that day and need to pick up your student early, please come early to give us time to track down your student at their current event. SUMMER SKILLS WORKBOOKS: Studies show that much of what is learned during the school year is lost over the summer months. Summer Skills Review Books provide students with a review of materials taught the previous year, and can give them an academic edge and self-confidence when they return to school in the fall. Workbooks available include math and language arts for students in grades PK-7th, pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, and high school math books. They even offer “Math for Life”, Spanish I & II Review, and French 1 Review if you want to brush up on your own skills! If you would like to see an example, or would like to order a workbook(s), stop by the school office or visit the website www.summerskills.com. They are $22 each, and orders are due to the school office by May 8.

PONCA ART CENTER--GRAPES & GLAZIN’: Make a handprint, footprint, or paint your own custom design on a planter for a custom mother’s day gift for all ages. The cost is $25 for non-members, $20 for members, and all glaze supplies and firings are included in the price (plant not included). Flyer on office bulletin board for more details or visit www.poncacityartcenter.org. ENROLLMENT DISCOUNT DEADLINE COMING! The $50 pre-enrollment discount deadline is April 30; to receive the $50 discount on your enrollment fee for next year, your enrollment fee for 2017/2018 needs to be paid in full by April 30. If you need another enrollment form, you can stop by the office, or go to www.fastdir.com/flcspc and click on the links tab on the left side of the page. Remember that enrollment is now open to the public. If you know a family new to First Lutheran School that is interested in enrolling, have them call or stop by the school office. If you refer a family with a student in 1st – 5th grades, make sure that they list you as a referring family on their enrollment sheet! If they remain enrolled through the first semester, in January of 2018 you will receive a $200 credit towards your tuition account! Two families earned a $200 credit this year by referring friends! PO-HI GIRLS ALL SPORTS PHYSICALS are being offered this year by the Lady Cat Softball Team. They will be given on May 4, 2017 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the Robson Fieldhouse, and will be $20 each. Forms are available from girls coaches after April 15, and will be available that evening. Physicals will be good for the 2017/2018 school year. EARLY CHILDHOOD EMPLOYMENT - We are considering our options. If you or someone you know would be interested in a part-time or full-time child care position, summer employment, or as the director for our program, please contact Principal Birnbaum (580-762-9950). Training classes, background checks, and fingerprinting will be conducted for any of these positions. Applications are available by clicking on the “links” option on the left side of www.fastdir.com/flcspc PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: Twenty days of school until "It Is Finished" but who's counting. We thank God for Denise Jones' 26 years of teaching band for us. We have been trying to find her replacement for two years or come up with alternative plans for band but to no avail. Please pray that we will find peace of what to do about this program for the future. PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: The countdown continues! 4 more weeks! Thanks Mrs. Kelly for organizing the Trike-a-thon; it has been postponed to next week. Lots of fun for a great cause. Mrs. Hanson: 4 WEEKS LEFT!!! AAAHHH!!!! So much to do, so little time. Last week was mid-quarters; if you have not been keeping track of your grades, now may be a good time to check in on them. With so little time left, and so many school days dedicated to other things, please make sure that you are keeping up! We will still be having our comprehensive final the last week of school, but we will also be having plenty of review days. We had quizzes at the beginning of the week. Everyone is looking good! 6th grade is expediting machines to move on to energy soon. 7th grade has moved into wind. And 8th grade is tracing family history. 7th Grade Donations- 7th grade boys are asked to bring 2 cases of bottled water and 7th grade girls are asked to bring a case of 20oz gatorade by Friday. Mrs. Pacey: Happy Wednesday! 6th, 7th, and Pre-Algebra are working with some of the mathematics used in the oil and natural gas industry. I am excited to be integrating math, science, and a little geography into our current lessons. Mr. Covert: We’re over halfway through the 4th quarter! I can’t believe how fast this school year has gone by. We’re continuing where we’ve been at, trying to get as much in as we can before summer. In 8th grade, we’re onto the Jazz Age and the Roaring Twenties, discussing the changes happening in American culture at the time. In 7th grade, we’re going over the last region in South America. Then, by class vote, we’re going to take a look at Australia. 6th grade is continuing on with the Age of Exploration, looking at the major European powers’ establishment of colonies and empires. 8th grade parents, I need the money ($16.26) and permission slips for skip day! I have most of them, but there are a few missing. Get them to me ASAP, please! I pray that God continues to bless us this Easter season as we continue our walk in Him. Blessings on your week!
