We are so happy to have you join our school family. This is my 5th year teaching PS but I've been here about 30 years as a parent, volunteer, Child Care director, and grandparent. Reading the Chatter each week is the best way to stay informed about all things FLS, but feel free to visit with me at school or by Fast Direct. Students may bring a child's leak proof water bottle each day if desired (Please mark with their name). All day students may bring a blanket and snuggle toy for rest time. Hope to see you at BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT next Tuesday. We will discuss issues specific to our classroom and answer questions or concerns. Praying for everyone to have a great first week! Spelling: Please check your students’ planner on Friday for next week’s list of Spelling words. May God bless each and every one of you this school year. I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us. Have a wonderful week! FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: Welcome to another Fabulous 4th grade school year! Thank you for choosing First Lutheran. We are blessed to be here at First, and know that By Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone, as Found in Scripture Alone {Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Sola Scriptura} We have a Love and a Grace with Jesus Christ that can never fail! I cannot wait to see how He blesses us together in 4th grade. We will be learning many new academics, and learning new things about our friends and their summer vacations. I will use both Fast Direct, and a weekly newsletter. The first Memory and Spelling words are for next week and went home today. Come Tuesday the 22nd for Back to School Night Dinner at 5:00 p.m. Then come to the classroom RIGHT AWAY at 5:15 or 5:40. Please look at the new Back to School Night schedule. This is a great opportunity to see old and new friends that we have not seen in a while and learn information for the new school year. See You Then! FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: How awesome to start a brand new school year! I look forward to getting to know a new group of fifth graders and their families. Back to School night is Tuesday. I hope to see you all there. This is a really good time to get information about how your child's day will go in fifth grade. I will also be happy to answer any questions you may have at this time. May God bless us all as we embark on a new adventure in 5th grade!
MIDDLE SCHOOL Mrs. Harbeson: I'm so glad that school's back in session, and I hope you all are looking forward to a great year! For the first few weeks of school - in addition to getting started in all our subjects - we will be going over our daily routines and policies for the middle school. Getting off to a good start will help us have a successful year. Parents, your student will be bringing home information and papers for you to read and sign. It is very important that he or she brings these papers back to school and delivers them to their teachers. I know middle school is a big transition for our new sixth graders, but I want to assure them and you that all of the teachers who work with your students will help them manage and adjust to a new routine. I ask that we all pray for our students, parents, teachers, administration, church members, and our year. Blessings to us all! Mrs. Hanson: Welcome back! This is going to be OUR year! I can feel it! We are calling this year, "The Year of Intent". We, as students and teachers, are going to be more intentional with how with live our life. Intentionally following Christ, intentionally studying and doing our best, intentionally making and improving the relationships around us. We will have selected a specific trait to be more intentional within our own personal lives. Ask your student what their word is by the end of the first week of school. I am so excited to be with you on this journey of the 2017/2018 school year! Mrs. Pacey: WELCOME BACK! And 6th graders, welcome to middle school! I hope everyone had a fantastic summer and that you are all energized for a new school year. Math Counts this year will also include a chance to compete in another math competition given by OSSM. If any middle school students are interested in Math Counts, they can let me know. We will be setting up our first meeting soon. Mr. Covert: It’s that time of year again! The summer flew on by, and now it’s time to get ready for school once more. I’m looking forward to seeing all of our students again, meeting our new students, and getting ready for all of the things God has in store for us this school year. 8th grade parents, keep an eye out for a sheet that will be coming home with your student this first week. It will detail how we’ll keep in touch leading up to the DC trip, as well as keeping in contact while we’re in Washington DC. I’ll be going over it at our last meeting (which will be the week before the trip, date TBA), but the sooner everyone has it, the easier it will be to keep in touch. -- 3 --
7th grade parents, I’ll be sending home the first fundraiser for DC on Monday, which is cookie dough! These are due back the first week of September, so there’s not a ton of time, but it should be sufficient to get a good jump on the fundraising. In the past two years, there have been families on our trip who paid for two people with fundraising alone, so it is possible! I’ll keep you up to date as fundraisers come along this school year as well. I pray that God blesses our school family this year as we explore our relationship with Him, His Word, and the world He’s given us to live in. Blessings on your week!
