PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: I praise God for you. Thank you for joining us for our 65th year of educating God's children. We pray that you will feel a part of our family and that we can work to encourage one another to be the best we can be. 1ST GRADE AND DOWN, we ask that you please do not send any lunches that need to be microwaved. Good relationships and communication are key to making this a successful year for your child. Please feel free to visit with me at any time about concerns or questions you may have. This week our theme will be "Apples" and our letter is "A". We will begin extra classes this week for library, music, and PE. Our first book order will be due on Wednesday, the 29th. You may turn it in to me with a check made out to Scholastic Book Clubs or order online and pay with your credit card. Books will be sent home with your child when the order comes in. I ask that you pray each day for your student, our class, our principal, and our school, so that we can make this the best year possible! KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: It was great to see so many parents at Back To School Night yesterday! If you didn't get to come I sent the papers home in your child's "Monday Folder" today. We have a Love and a Grace with Jesus Christ that can never fail! I cannot wait to see how He blesses us together in 4th grade. Thank you for such a great turnout for Back to School Night! I can really see we are going to have a great year with amazing parents that are supporting their kids for a well rounded education. If you were not able to make it last night, I’ll send home papers for you to look at. I will also be contacting you soon to set up a home visit if you requested one. I am so blessed with a great group of kids that are eager to learn. Thank you! We are reviewing in Math, in Language we are working on types of sentences, and this week we will be reviewing our AR goals. Keep reading and earning those points. FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: What a joy to start fresh at the beginning of a new school year! It was good to visit with many of you at Back-to-School Night yesterday evening. I know that working together as a team - parent, student, and teacher - we will accomplish wonderful things. As I said last evening, always feel free to contact me. You may text, use Fast Direct or call. We welcome Riley Fuller back to FLS and our fifth grade class this year.
MIDDLE SCHOOL "FLY" NIGHT will begin next Wednesday, August 29th in the gym. Middle school through high school students are welcome to join us for some fun and fellowship! We have a great group of students this year, and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better! So far, all classes have reviewed my classroom policies and should have returned them for their first graded assignment. This week, we are beginning our new grammar and vocabulary books. We are also reflecting on what makes a good student, a good teacher, and what the students hope to achieve this year. We are setting goals and with God's help, moving towards them. Mrs. Hanson: What a great start to the school year?! I am so excited for the rest of it. The biggest news.... WE GOT CHROMEBOOKS!!! The best part is we got enough for EVERY student! We will be preparing them and policies these next couple weeks. We will be handing out devices at the parent tech orientation, Tuesday, September 4th. So you will NOT want to miss that orientation. Policies and procedures have gone home and been signed, please make sure you're familiar with them. School supplies have already been checked and graded, please double check to make sure your student has everything they need to be successful this year. Each student will be required to use the planner provided, so if you ever have a question about homework, check out your student's planner. It was great to see everyone at Back to School Night. If you have any questions after that meeting, please never hesitate to shoot me a FastDirect. Mrs. Pacey: Blessings on a new school year! I am excited to see all the familiar faces along with a few new ones this year. We are starting out with some brain stretching math activities including pentominoes and tangrams in every class. If any student is interested in joining math counts, let me know. We will be setting up meeting times in the near future. Have a fantastic Wednesday! Mr. Covert: Welcome back to school! I pray that everyone had a blessed summer, and I hope everybody is ready to get back into the swing of things! Every class is focusing on getting a foundation set for the school year this week. In 8th grade, we’re discussing the changes that Britain made regarding the colonies following the French-Indian War. These changes were the spark for the American Revolution. 7th grade is looking at a few things that human geography consists of, namely people, culture, and economies. These will be highly important throughout the year. 6th grade is going way back to the very first civilization we know of chronologically, the Sumerians, in Mesopotamia. I pray that God continues to pour out blessings on our school family as we begin another year walking with Him! Blessings on your week! FUTURE WASHINGTON D.C. ATTENDEES: If you need to make payments to your D.C. account, please note that you cannot make payments with a credit card. We will, however, accept checks, cash, money orders, etc. Thank you.
