TOW TRUCK - Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for a tow truck service that could come thru the school parking from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. so we can tow any high school students’ vehicles? If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please contact Principal Birnbaum. LUTHERAN SCHOOLS PEN PALS: Lutheran Schools Pen Pals is a program for 2nd – 8th grade LCMS students. Each participating child will be matched with another child of similar age and interests. Exchanging letters will provide your student with an opportunity to share their faith and improve their writing skills, all while creating a relationship with a Lutheran student in another part of the country. If you are interested, please complete the form attached and return with your $5.00 fee to the address on the form by September 25. Participating students will receive their Pen Pal’s name and address in October. PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: We praise God for all of you who were able to take time and join us for the Back-toSchool Night. We pray that this was beneficial to you to get to know our school and your child's teacher(s)/classes better. You can easily contact our teachers through FastDirect and teachers can keep you up to date on your child. If you need help with FastDirect, billing, or general information, please let us know. Have a blessed new school year. PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: Thanks to all that were able to attend Back to School Night! If you were unable to come, feel free to visit with me if you have questions or concerns about your child. We are making huge progress with learning classroom routines, sharing and taking turns, lining up, etc. It's hard work being in PS! This week our theme is "Apples". We will learn the parts of an apple, how they grow, which color of apple tastes the best and what kind of foods are made from apples. We are also counting to 5, learning to recognize the letter A and it's sound, and working on our colors. Whew! Show and Tell with our bear friends will be next Thursday, the 31st. Have a blessed week! PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly/Mrs. Colvin: It was great seeing everyone at Back to School night! Thank you for coming! If you didn't make it to our class the information that we went over is in backpacks today. Thank you for all of our wish list items! We are reviewing our colors and shapes this week. Have a blessed week! KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: It was great seeing parents at Back to School night! If you didn't come, I sent home today a homework folder called the "Monday Folder". Please bring this folder back to school each Monday and sign the parent check list on the days you do homework with your child. Please do homework every school night by going over the sight words and reading books (the pop corn holder is for your child's sight words, "popcorn words"). In your child's folders are instructions. Have a great week! FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: We have made it through the 1st week of school! The children are doing a great job of learning their routines and their responsibilities. Thank you to all of you that came to Back to School Night. I look forward to getting to know all of you more during the school year. Thank you for the "wish list" supplies that have been brought in for our classroom. They are greatly appreciated! We had fun observing one of God's amazing creations - the Solar Eclipse! I hope that your child shared their experience with you! Our memory verse for Friday is Psalm 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Please make sure to work on this at home. We will have show and tell on Friday - please bring something that will fit in your child's backpack. Happy birthday to Reese yesterday (August 22)! Shine in His light! SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: We're off to a great start! What a fun bunch of second graders. We enjoyed all of the eclipse excitement. Our God is so AWESOME! Thank you for coming back to school last night. I look forward to working with you as we journey through this school year. If you were unable to attend, please be sure to stop in and pick up the hand outs. We're happy to welcome Claire Davis to our group! Blessings! THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: This is our first full week! Thank you to all those parents who came to see me and learn about our classroom last night. Please let me know if you have any questions. We are reviewing in Math, in Language we are working on types of sentences, and this week we will be setting our AR goals. Keep reading and earning those points. MIDDLE SCHOOL 8/27 8/29
Pepperette Mother/Daughter Tea, 2:00 p.m., ConocoPhillips Clubhouse (4th Street) 5:15, Mrs. Hanson’s (Science) Room, Middle School Parent Technology Orientation
Mrs. Harbeson: Hello, Everyone! I hope you all had a great beginning to our school year and are ready for our first full week of school! I'm excited for the year ahead of us and am looking forward to watching how you all grow! If you haven't checked out my class website, I encourage you to do so. It's harbolanguage.blogspot.com. It's very userfriendly, so look around! I will make announcements concerning special events, field trips, and classwork on your class announcement page. It was good seeing all of you last night at Back to School Night. I hope you had all your questions answered. If you have any questions or concerns and would like to set up an appointment with me, please FastDirect me and we will get a time scheduled. All middle school students will be taking the STAR test in the next week. I will be talking about ranges and goals with each class next week. That's it for now! Blessings on the rest of your week! Mrs. Hanson: What a great first week! If it was any indicator of how the rest of the year will go, we are in for a real treat! The eclipse was absolutely amazing. Thank you for letting me experience that with your child. It was something they will never forget. Thanks to all who made it to back to school night! I hope it was informative. Remember we are always here if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Since we did not go over any technology related items at back to school night, please join us for our first annual "Parent Technology Orientation"! Next Tuesday, August 29 at 5:15pm in Hanson's room in the Middle School we will be going over all the programs, websites, apps, etc. teachers, students, and parents will be using this year. This will include FastDirect, class websites, MobyMax, Remind, Social Studies curriculum, Google Suites, etc. We feel that this will help everyone be set up for success this school year. If you have any specific or direct concerns or requests that you would like us to go over, feel free to FastDirect us or bring those concerns to orientation. Even if you have an 8th grade student, this would be great to see everyone there! Mrs. Pacey: We had a great first week of school! Monday we had the opportunity to watch a solar eclipse, safely of course. I had never actually seen one before, so that was awesome! We have MobyMax this week, and students should be finishing their placement tests. I sent home a letter on Tuesday about MobyMax. Let’s make this another great week! Mr. Covert: It’s the first full week of our school year! Now that we’ve worked everything out over the short week, we can start school in earnest! Each class is starting toward the beginning. In 8th grade, we’re starting just following the French-Indian War, with the steps that led to America declaring independence. 7th grade is going to go over half of the United States in their first chapter, and finish up the United States in the following chapter. In 6th grade, we’re going to start with some of the earliest civilizations we know of that sprung up in the Fertile Crescent. I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we get going on this school year. Blessings on your week! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Information went home with 8th grade girls this week about joining Pepperette’s (with the PCPS students).
