It is only 20 questions over what we have talked about so far. Social Studies: We will have a test next week. A review will be sent home so that you all can study. Also, look for a test in the next 2 weeks. Religion: we have been using Bibles a lot in class. If your child wants to bring their own they may. I know some kids like to highlight verses. Have a wonderful week!! FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: We are now rolling in our regular weekly schedule. I am so blessed with a great group of kids that are eager to learn. Thank you! FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: I hope you have been on Fast Direct and read my Bulletin Board for the week. It explains how we move through the week and the quizzes and/or tests coming up. There is always SO much new to learn at the beginning of the year. We're coming along in that area. We wish happy August birthdays to Jasmine (10) and Lauren Z. (17). Remember to send chapel offering with your child any time during the week. We collect it in the room and take it over to chapel on Wednesday. MIDDLE SCHOOL 9/4
Parent Tech Orientation Night, 8th grade @ 5:15, 7th grade @ 5:45, 6th grade @ 6:15
"FLY" NIGHT TONIGHT! Wednesday, August 29th in the gym. Middle school through high school students are welcome to join us for some fun and fellowship! We will meet each Wednesday evening from 5:30-7 in the FLS gym. Parents are invited to join our 5:30 bible study during this time. Hope to see you all there, and bring a friend or two!! Mrs. Harbeson: Greetings! I hope all is well with you and your family! Here's what’s going on in middle school this week: 1. Student council permission slips went home yesterday with those students who are wanting to represent their classes. Slips must be signed by both the student and a parent and returned by this Friday, August 31, to be on the ballot for next Wednesday. I will not be able to accept late slips. 2. For 6th grade, Camp Lutherhoma packets are coming home today. Please complete the packet and return to me by Friday, September 7. If you have any questions, please FastDirect me and I will get back to you ASAP. 3. We're having a school-wide yearbook signing party this Friday at 2:30! Bring your yearbook if you have one, and if you don't, you may purchase one from Ms. Connie in the school office for $25. 4. In language, all classes have received their new novels and have taken their first quizzes. All grades will also take lesson 1 spelling and vocabulary tests this Friday, August 31. I encourage you all to log in to my webpage, go to your grade's spelling page, and click on the Quizlet link to help you study for your test. 3
5. Finally, mandatory tutoring will begin next Tuesday, September 4. Notification slips will be sent home tomorrow (August 30) with those students who have missing work, and/or have a class grade lower than a 70%. Students will be required to be in study hall both Tuesday and Thursday. That's it for now! I hope you have a great "rest of your week"! Mrs. Hanson: The second week was just as great as the 1st! This is going to be an awesome school year! The first thing I need everyone to put on their calendars is the Parent Tech Orientation on Sept. 4, 8th grade @ 5:15, 7th grade @ 5:45, 6th grade @ 6:15. It's vital to attend this event, because Chromebooks will be distributed that night. If you do not attend, a Chromebook will not be given until an orientation is attended. Each class has dived into content. 6th grade is studying how to measure matter. 7th grade is learning about the building blocks of earth, minerals. 8th grade has begun to explore what it means to be a living thing. Next Tuesday will be the first day of after school tutoring. ANY student is welcome to come, finish homework, get extra help, etc. Some students may be required to attend if grades are not sufficient or there is missing work. Mandatory tutoring slips will go home Thursday. Mrs. Pacey: We have made it through nearly two full weeks of school! We are getting into the swing of things in math. Every class will have their first test in the next week or so. I have had them add the test date to their planners. Math counts will be starting soon. We are going to have an informational meeting for interested students during study hall this Friday. I am sure we will have a fantastic team! Blessings! Mr. Covert: We’ve knocked out our first full week of school! I hope that everyone has a routine down, and we can settle into it as we move forward. Classes have been moving along nicely. 8th grade is working on the American Revolution this week. In 7th grade, we’re finishing up our chapter on human geography, and moving into the Eastern United States to look at physical features. As for 6th grade, we’re looking to finish up Sumeria this week and maybe get a start on Egypt. I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we make our way through this first quarter of school! Blessings on your week! FUTURE WASHINGTON D.C. ATTENDEES: If you need to make payments to your D.C. account, please note that you cannot make payments with a credit card. We will, however, accept checks, cash, money orders, etc. Thank you.

First Lutheran collects and earns credit for recycling ink and toner cartridges (full or empty) and electronic devices! Please bring any donated items to the office. In addition, we also collect BoxTops. You can turn them in anytime, or hold on to them for the class competition (details coming in future chatters). COKE POINTS! Inside the lid of most Coke products is a code. If you create an account and log in to coke.com, you can donate that code to First Lutheran School. When approximately 500 lids have been donated, the school will receive a check worth $25 at the end of that quarter. If you would rather donate time, we have a whole stash of lids waiting to be entered, and we need volunteers to come enter them for us. 4
