your student with an opportunity to share their faith and improve their writing skills, all while creating a relationship with a Lutheran student in another part of the country. If you are interested, please complete the form (attached to a previous chatter or pick up a new one in the office) and return with your $5.00 fee to the address on the form by September 25. Participating students will receive their Pen Pal’s name and address in October. PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: One day a year all of our Oklahoma Lutheran Schools and our Early Childhood staffs get together to worship and learn together. This is why there is no school and no child care this Friday. It is a great experience with around 150 people from nine schools and a couple of the additional seven stand alone Early Childhood Centers in attendance. This year we are focusing on STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math. PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: We thank God for all of our beautiful weather and pray for all of those affected by the hurricanes and wildfires in our country. We are looking forward to the Carnival on Thursday. It's a wonderful time to spend with our FLS family. Please join us from 5-8 for games and fellowship. NO SCHOOL on Friday while teachers are at a conference. Enjoy your extra day off! This week our theme is "Feelings" and our letter is "D". Blessings! PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly/Mrs. Colvin: Happy Birthday Rowan(6), Alyssa(10), and Kennedy(16)! Parents, mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 17th. We will be going to the Rustic Roots Farm and Pumpkin Patch. Look for more information next week. I hope to see everyone at the Cardinal Carnival tomorrow night. Remember that PreK has been asked to bring baked goods for the cake walk. No school on Friday. The teachers will travel to Edmond for the Lutheran teacher conference. Our Bible words this week are: I, the Lord, am your Savior. Isaiah 60:16. We are learning about sounds in our environment, and how to treat others. Have a Blessed week, and a nice long weekend! KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: Just a reminder our class book orders are due to me by Thursday the 14th or online by Friday the 15th. Please save the date of October the 17th (Tuesday). Our class will be going to the Rustic Roots pumpkin patch in Lamont, OK on a field trip and I will need drivers. I will send more information home later. This Thursday the 14th is the Cardinal Carnival which used to be Family Fun Night. Also, we do not have school this Friday the 15th. The teachers will be in Edmond at a conference. Have a remarkable week! FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Memory for Thursday is Luke 17:3 - If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. The Cardinal Carnival is Thursday night from 5-8 pm. I hope to see you there! Remember that we do not have school on Friday; the teachers will be attending a conference in Edmond. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 17. We will have a field trip to Rustic Roots Pumpkin Patch in Lamont. Enjoy the rest of your week! SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: We're excited about the Cardinal Carnival on Thursday evening! Hope to see you there. Remember that we have no school on Friday and our spelling test will be on Thursday. Our trip to Leonardo's is next Friday, September 22. Please listen to your child say the Lord's Prayer and I will listen to them individually as well. Many of us are still saying "I will be done" rather than "Thy will be done." All is well! Blessings! THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: We are moving right along here in third grade. Talking has been a bit out of control again this week, and also turning in homework has not been the best. Please check planners every night to see what your child has for homework. Thank you! This week: Test: Math today, and Spelling on Thursday (remember no school Friday). NO Reading test for the next couple weeks. Book Orders: please get those back to me by Thursday. Cardinal Carnival: Hope to see everyone this Thursday Night at the carnival. It will be held on the play ground. Thank you to everyone who helped out and worked a shift; especially the Mullins family! Grades: Mid quarters are coming up, so that means we are half way through this quarter already. Please check on FastDirect for your child's grades. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: Remember that we are having a Rose Hill Prep day TOMORROW at 10 am! We will be trying on Rose Hill clothes, sewing Nine Patch Quilts, & cutting apples. Bring your apples! The Rose Hill clothes are out & we will be trying taking them on. If you are going to have clothes made, let me know so we do not reserve clothes for you. Remember moms and dads need to dress in time period clothes also! If adults need time period clothes for this trip, please come to the classroom to try some on! We will be sewing our nine patch quilts. Our next Rose Hill Prep day is on the 28th to bake goodies for the next day! Come to the Kay Co. Fair to see if you have something being shown to earn a ribbon. We are really excited about the Cardinal Carnival (Family Fun Night). If you have not, please bring in your TWO cases of pop, and don’t forget to check online to see where you can still work for the ring toss for tomorrow night. Spelling, Memory, and Reading test are tomorrow. If you can help with the baking on the 28th please let me know. Remember there is no school on Friday. Please continue to look on Fast Direct for student grades and missing work. Next week are mid quarters! Blessings as we prepare and plan for our events. FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: Please see my FD Bulletin Board for information on upcoming tests and memory work. I hope to see you all at Family Fun Night Thursday evening. This is always a fun family event for our school. -- 2 --

Memory due tomorrow is all of Luther's Morning Prayer. Way to go to John, Braydon Deel, Rachel, Paige, Landon, Brynn and Pierce for saying the ENTIRE prayer already last Friday morning. That is just AWESOME! Happy birthday in this spectacular month of September to Brynn (28). Have a wonderful 3 day weekend. Blessings along the way!

Go to www.SignUpGenius.com/go/409054CACAA2EA31-6thgrade1 Mrs. Harbeson: Hello! I hope you all are doing well! We have quite a bit going on at school so I will fill you in on a few things: Cardinal Carnival - Thursday, September 14 It's time for the Cardinal Carnival (formerly Family Fun Night)! I hope you all are able to come and enjoy the fun that we'll have together while at the same time raising money for the school PTL. Each class is responsible for bringing an "item" to contribute to their booth. I only know what 6th graders are supposed to bring, so I'll remind you here . . . we are running the Cake Walk. We need every 6th grade family to donate 2 baked treats. It could be cookies, cake, pie, cupcakes, pastries, etc. They may be store-bought or homemade. Just make sure that you wrap the items for traveling home with someone, and remember that you won't get your container back! All treats may be brought to my room before Thursday evening. No refrigerated treats, please. AR I have explained to the students how we will be conducting AR this year. Students have taken their STAR tests and know their GE score (grade equivalent). They also know their ZPD range. Please check my webpage (harbolanguage.blogspot.com) to see the new requirements for AR this year. Upcoming Field Trips 6th grade: Camp Lutherhoma is Wednesday, September 27 - Friday, September 29. Forms and money are due this Wednesday, September 13. Please be sure to get that to me as I need to make travel plans and meal plans. Parents, if you have any questions, please FastDirect me! 7th grade: Theater trip on Tuesday, October 10, to Orpheum Theatre in Wichita, KS. You will receive an information sheet on this trip with your Zoo Snooze letter this week. 8th: No upcoming trips for you. Our college trip to OSU will be this spring. That's all for now! Blessings on your week! Mrs. Hanson: Cardinal Carnival is tomorrow! 7th grade families…if you signed up to work, please show up when your shift starts. You will be serving pizza, cookies, and a drink. Cookies and sodas were due at school yesterday. If you have not yet brought them, please bring it tomorrow. Last week’s vocab quiz was pretty darn good! This gives me hope that they will only get better. This week all classes will have a quiz over the content from their respective chapters. And then, because they will have studied so hard for their quizzes, they all get Friday off! Just joking; it's not due to how much they studied, but we do have no school Friday because of teacher professional development. Zoo Snooze forms will go out by the end of the week and are due back with payment by September 19. -- 3 --

Mrs. Pacey: Enjoy the long weekend! Every math class has a chapter one test next week either Monday or Tuesday. We have studied and practiced in class this week. Algebra is working with functions. PreAlgebra is working with the coordinate, or cartesian, plane as well. Everyone else is working on classifying numbers and working with integers. Mr. Covert: Fall is definitely in the air, at least in the mornings. I hope everyone is enjoying the weather here, while we keep in our prayers those dealing with the aftermath of Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida. In classes, we’re continuing onward from our last stopping point. In 8th grade, we’re going over the origins of the Constitution, with the goal of spending a few days next week discussing the document itself. 7th grade is going to be looking at the history and life today in the Western United States. As far as 6th grade, we’re talking about the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms of Egyptian history. 8th grade parents, we will be having our final DC meeting on Tuesday, September 19th, at 6 PM. I’ll have an itinerary, flight schedules, and we’ll discuss the last few things we need to know before the DC trip. If you’re going, PLEASE do your best to attend! I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we continue on through this school year. Blessings on your week!
