FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Memory verse for Friday is Matthew 22:37 - You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. When your child brings home a reader for reading, please make sure that they return it the next day - we use them in class. Next week we will be starting our Book It Program. On Monday, look for an October Reading Log and a parent letter. A field trip note and permission slip went home today for our trip to Rustic Roots Pumpkin Patch. Thank you so much for driving us and helping us to have a memorable day. I was very proud of our group's behavior. Way to represent FLS and shine for Jesus! Mark your calendars for our next field trip to the Rustic Roots pumpkin patch on October 18. Remember that picture day is next Thursday, October 5. If you're cleaning out toys and treasure, we do have a prize box and can always use new surprises. I'm on the hunt for some used Legos, too. Last Wednesday our class grandparents, Dave and Shirley Zimmerman, shared information with us about the Land Run and helped us make the "Cardinal Nest" yard signs. They will do projects with us throughout the year. The children and I are blessed by their love and attention. Blessings! THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: What amazing rain this is!! This week we are finishing up Sideways Stories and taking a test today. That means we are back to normal next week, Reading Test, Vocabulary words, and paragraphs. Be prepared to leave the school no later than 8 am to begin a great Rose Hill day. We will be baking right away Thursday morning. Come prepared with spoons and aprons on! We are having a smoother week than last week. I know we can do it. Please help your scholars to read for AR. The end of the quarter is coming to an end extremely soon. Some of us have a long way to go to make the first quarter goal! Continue to go over assignments with students for simple mistakes. Fast Direct is a great tool to see how scholars are doing. This makes a big difference for academic understanding and retention of material. October starts our Book-It Program by Pizza Hut. Students are to bring their BOOK IT reading log to school and home and back again to keep track of their pages. We are going to read 500 pages a month. Remember that page number includes AR time here at school, at home, and Reading Buddy pages. Keep Reading! Permission slips for our upcoming field trip are coming out soon. We have the Steam Show in KS, the pumpkin patch, and Mary Poppins musical. The Steam Show is a great daddy field trip to see how life was back in the “Good Old Days!’’. Continue to be blessed and praise the Lord as we are his workmanship.
