The Infant Room is still looking for the following items if you would have any that you are willing to donate: High Chairs Swings Bouncy Chairs PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: Hope everyone enjoyed having a long weekend! This week we are learning about dinosaurs and the letter C. Our first SHOW N TELL will be Thursday. Please make sure it is small enough to fit into the backpack and nothing breakable. Today was our first PS chapel service. We meet in the gym with Janet Goll leading us in worship. Thanks so much Janet! We also began religion time to our classroom curriculum. Next week, when the children arrive in the classroom, they will look for "their" letter (first letter of their name) and put it in the cup as a way of signing in each morning. If you haven't done so, please bring snacks for the classroom. We burn a lot of energy doing our work and the children get really hungry before lunch. Snack time is also a wonderful social activity with friends. Thanks! Blessings for your week! PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Colvin: I hope everyone is having a great week so far! We had a lot of fun with our bears on bear day last week. This week it is all about the letter C and cars! We will also be learning about dinosaurs. Don't forget Show and Tell is tomorrow! PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Kelly: I hope you had a wonderful extra day off with your family! Great Job on getting your mail folders back to me! Chapel offering is going great! Thank you for helping us raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Oklahoma! All money donated stays in Oklahoma. Book orders are due to me or online by Friday. Our Bible words this week are, God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:10 We are learning about working together this week. Mark your calendars for October 10th and 17th. We will have a trik-a-thon for St. Jude Hospital on the 10th and our Pumpkin Patch field Trip is on the 17th. More information will come home soon. Have a Blessed week! PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Heitman: Book orders are due back THIS Friday. Please let me know if you have any questions on how to order! We’ve been back in school for only a couple of weeks and we’re already starting to see some sickness. We’re working on learning to wash our hands well so we don’t spread germs! Please remember to check your student's folder each Wednesday and send it back the next day. Also, don’t forget our chapel offering is being donated to the Epilepsy Foundation this quarter! Help our class earn the most offering! Happy Birthday to Kaycen this week! Please continue to pray for our school and administration, as well as all of our students. KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Miller: Show and tell will be this Friday, Sept. 7th. Please have your child bring something that fits in their backpack and if it can't get broken please don't bring it to school at all (we will do our best not to break it but things happen). Our scholastic book online order is due by Sept. 10th and the code is DWY6G at scholastic.com/bookclubs. Our homework is very important and I can't stress it enough so parents please keep doing all the Monday Folder sight words and books and also, work on your child's letters and sounds (mixed up flash cards). If we don't have school on any Monday please bring the "Monday Folder" back on Tuesday. Have an awesome week! 2

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: I hope that you enjoyed your Labor Day! Memory verse for Friday is Psalm 31:14 - I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." Please make sure that you check your child's folder daily and take out any papers. Thank you for all of the "wish list items". There are still a few items on the door if you would like to help out our classroom - thank you! Blessings on our short week! SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Happy September! What a refreshing long weekend! This fine group of second graders is especially kind. I'm very proud of your amazing children! We voted to purchase a water buffalo for some hungry people. It costs $250 and so far we've raised about $25. Thanks to those of you who have shared so generously. It's a lofty goal and we may have to make adjustments. Field trip money for Leonardo's is due Wednesday, September 5. Book orders are due the 7th of September. Keep us in your prayers. Blessings! THIRD GRADE – Mrs. Steichen: Here is to a wonderful new week! This week: Memory: Genesis - 2 Chronicles Due today. Genesis through Daniel due September 19th. Reading: Test on Friday. Look for us to start a chapter book in the next couple weeks. This means no paragraphs or test on Friday. Math: First test was today! From now on we will have 20 problems each day, and our tests will be every five lessons. If your child does their homework, there should be no problems with the test. Remember if the grade is below a 90 on the test, we will correct them. Social Studies: Test was on Tuesday. I am proud of everyone! Science: project due this Friday. Let me know if you have any questions. Mark your Calendar: Zoo field trip on September 20th, and Pumpkin Patch on October 25th. Information about the zoo will be coming home this week. Have a wonderful week!! FOURTH GRADE – Mrs. Sibley: What a wonderful relaxing three day weekend we had. Continue reading to earn our AR goals! Please keep on signing planners nightly. Thank you for bringing in wish list items. I can’t wait to see other items. Looking at student work helps scholars to stay on task and helps to ensure a great school day! The more work completed in school the less to do at home! Keep reading at home and practicing multiplication facts. Peace as you serve the Lord. FIFTH GRADE – Mrs. Schatte: Wasn't it wonderful to have Monday off? Labor Day is always such a blessing! We had the continent and ocean quiz today. I'm hoping that went really well. It would be very helpful if you'd listen to your child recite his/her memory work weekly before I listen to it. Some of us are not studying it enough. Thanks! Please see my Fast Direct Bulletin Board for the weeks happenings. Blessings!

MIDDLE SCHOOL Wednesday’s, 3:30 – 4:30, MathCounts Wednesday’s, 5:30 – 7:00, Youth night in the gym! (details below) 9/6 Makeup Parent Tech Orientation Night "FLY" NIGHT TONIGHT! Wednesday, September 5th in the gym—we’ll be playing Volleyball this week! Middle school through high school students are welcome to join us for some fun and fellowship! We will meet each Wednesday evening from 5:30-7 in the FLS gym. Parents are invited to join our 5:30 bible study during this time. Hope to see you all there, and bring a friend or two!! Mrs. Harbeson: Greetings! I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend! It was a nice little break to let everyone catch their breath after getting used to a new school schedule along with the extra-curricular activities that go along with it! Now that we have "settled in" to a new school year, I encourage you all to get into regular routines. Get to bed (that's for parents and students!) at a decent time. Unplug from your cell phones and other devices at least an hour before going to sleep. Eat well! Something for breakfast is better than nothing! Finally, and most importantly, find time everyday for some quiet time. Read, take a walk, spend time with God...with all of our "busy-ness" we sometimes don't spend time replenishing our souls. I encourage everyone to do this (as I will!) Just a few items on the agenda for now: 1. Student council elections were held today. Representatives will be announced during homeroom tomorrow (Thursday). 2. Mandatory study hall began this week. Anyone may come voluntarily...those students who have multiple missing assignments, late work, or have grades in any class under a 70% will be required to be at both the Tuesday and Thursday sessions from 3:30-4:30. Mandatory slips will be sent home every Monday. 3. All students should have received their Chrome Books from Tuesday night's parent tech orientation. If you were unable to attend, please contact Ms. Hanson ASAP. 4. 6th graders: Camp Lutherhoma packets are due this Friday, Sept. 7! 3

That's all for now! Blessings to you on the rest of your week! Mrs. Hanson: Thanks to all who came to the Parent Tech Orientation! I hope it wasn't very stressful, that it was informative, and that you feel prepared to tackle the school year equipped with awesome technology and apps. If you were not able to join us Tuesday for the orientation, we missed you and have an alternative. Thursday, Sept. 6 we will have another orientation for those that missed the original. It is only here that you and your student will receive a Chromebook. We are requiring everyone to have been to an orientation so that expectations and responsibilities are clear before we put a valuable machine in the hands of the student. Each class will have a vocabulary quiz this Friday. We have all been through some fun learning stations that introduced us to our new content, learned terminology, so now we will assess our knowledge of the vocabulary. Ms. Pacey: Happy Labor day! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! Algebra and PreAlgebra have their first math test this Friday. We are also starting MathCounts club meetings this week. We will be meeting every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 and every Friday during Study Hall. Let’s make it another great week! Mr. Covert: We’ve hit September! I hope that everyone enjoyed their long weekend and is ready to hit the ground running! Our classes are picking up where we left off. In 8th grade, we’re discussing the Articles of Confederation and the issues that they caused that led to our Constitution. 7th grade is going over the United States from a physical and human geography point of view. 6th grade is going to start off going over Egypt this week. 8th grade parents, we’re going to have a meeting the week before the Washington DC trip. There’s no date yet, but I’ll have one by the next Chatter. I also need any money you may still owe for the trip! I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we move through the school year. Blessings on your week! FUTURE WASHINGTON D.C. ATTENDEES: If you need to make payments to your D.C. account, please note that you cannot make payments with a credit card. We will, however, accept checks, cash, money orders, etc. Thank you.

Inside the lid/box of Coke products is a code. If you create an account and log in to coke.com, you can donate that code to First Lutheran School. When approximately 500 lids have been donated, the school will receive a check worth $25 at the end of that quarter. If you would rather donate time, we have a whole stash of lids waiting to be entered, and we need volunteers to come enter them for us.
