The Brent Star Report JAPAN AND beyond
H
IS IT OUR PROBLEM?
ow dare I write a weekly column and not make a comment or two on the current disasters that’s been happening in Japan and Libya. And shut up whore, don’t you DARE ask “what’s that got to do with us gays in Midtown, Atlanta?”…well, I’ll get to that in a minute.
First of all, what’s REALLY going on over there? It’s like nature and man competing with each other to see who can fuck some shit up the worse…in this corner we have heavyweight champion all the way from Japan, the merciless annihilator Tsunami, and on the other side of the ring folks, in that other damn corner, we have another merciless evil destroyer, all the way from Libya, the cold hearted-Hitler-wannabe Muammar Gaddafi (whatever happened to simple names like Mike or LaKreasha? Just saying). So far in this match, it’s really hard to tell who’s winning because both of them are merciless in their reign of wreaking havoc in ppl lives. And because of the disasters they have caused, I’m not quite sure who’s gaining the most momentum, the rebel’s reactions or the reactors’ rebellion. Now this is the point where WE the people of the U.S. enter this match as both spectators and referee. As spectators, we make sure we tune in every day to keep up with those “reactors” (this is of course, when we’re not paying attention to ‘The Charlie Sheen Show’ or worried about who’s boyfriend got the biggest dick… just saying). I think we’re smart enough to know that those nuclear reactors can somehow effect us too… some believe that the radiation escaping from those reactors can travel all the way over here for us to inhale (which would probably suit some of the experimental drug users in Midtown just fine), but others claim that the radiation won’t even make it over here because it’ll dissipate over the ocean therefore possibly contaminating more of those poor fish (haven’t they had enough with the oil spill? Those girls in the ocean are OVER us!), but I hope you get my point, we too could be in jeopardy especially if ALL of Japan is completely wiped out. This effects certain businesses that depends on the imports we get from them like their technology, cars, a lot of daily use stuff that says “made in Japan”, and most importantly this could have an effect on our nail salons here and our wig shops! But why are we trying to be ‘referees’ over there in Libya? At press time, it appears that those ‘rebels’ may not even need us considering how they wreaked their own havoc in Gaddafi’s own front yard as if to say “now take that bitch!”. But this ain’t new. We’re always stepping in to be big brother and the hero
14 davidatlanta
to other countries (of course, we know it’s usually because it’s something we ‘need’ from them… un huh…). The thing that really gets me though is WHAT are we going to do if those disasters happen to us? I mean, WHO are we to help someone when we can’t even get along in our own country? We’re still wasting time on stupid shit like “voting” on rather or not we should allow gays to get married or put someone in jail because they had some weed in their pockets, you know, dumb shit. I mean, come on, it’s 2011 and we’re JUST NOW doing away with the whole “don’t ask don’t tell” policy. One thing I can say about those whores in Libya, atleast they know the POWER in working TOGETHER! Everytime you see those “rebels” in the news, they’re ALL fighting as one. They’re standing up for themselves and kicking ass. When are WE going to unite as one? Sadly, we can’t seem to get along within our own community, and worse, even within the subcultures of our community like the st8 acting down low gays who can’t stand the ‘out’ gays, the embarrassing racism that STILL exists among us, the bitchy queens who’s always trying to stir shit up, and right next to you is supposedly your good girlfriend who wants either your man or your stuff (in the words of Cee-lo Green, “Ain’t that some shit”?). Again, what do those disasters have to do with us? A lot, but in particular, it’s a loud wake up call to prepare for the unknown. This ain’t about having enough money nor carrying the biggest Madea gun in your purse. It’s bigger than that. It’s about the man in the mirror (um, not HIM but YOU!). Allow the love and block the hate. Unless you’re a member of Westbury Baptist Church, don’t discriminate. We’re all in this together. You never know when you’re going to need that person you can’t stand. Just sayin. Until next week, don’t read the girls, instead read The Brent Star Report! Where to catch Brent Star: Mondays at Einsteins (with RuPaul’s contestants Nicole Paige Brooks of season 2 and Mariah Paris Balenciaga of season 3), Saturdays at Tijuana Garage and a few times a month on Thursdays and Sundays at Burkharts and everywhere else that pays! w w w. f a c e b o o k . c o m / Mr.BrentStar

One eskimO the sound of a band that is only just getting started.
“Oh, ev’ry thought that’s strung a knot in my mind I might go insane if it couldn’t be sprung But it’s not to stand naked under unknowin’ eyes It’s for myself and my friends my stories are sung” – Bob Dylan Typically, when you hear about the history of bands, it goes something like this: get together, maybe it’s a lark, kind of don’t know how to play instruments, learn as you go, perhaps have some success, one member takes the limelight, stagnate, grow apart, start fighting, someone decides to work with “better” musicians, split up. Hailing from the UK, One eskimO is diligently proving one rule certainly doesn’t fit all. By today’s standards, they are nothing if not unique, both musically and as an entity, “a proper band.”
One eskimO hooked up with animators Nathan Erasmus and Matt Latchford of Gravy Media who were able to take Kristian’s sketches and create a visual piece for an early One eskimO track, “Hometime.” Using old style animation, the video won a British Animation Award in 2008 and helped them secure financing to finish their record. The band took up another year crafting the album’s complex electronic sound and atmospheric quality before feeling truly satisfied with its outcome. It didn’t hurt that Toyota knew a hit when they heard it and licensed “Hometime” for its Prius campaign in the United States, giving the band a nice platform to launch the already highly anticipated record.
While “Hometime” got them noticed initially, it’s the massive hit “Kandi” that’s getting the band on shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show and KCRW’s, Morning Becomes Eclectic & WXPN’s-World Cafe. Reaching #1 on the Mediabase AAA charts for 4 weeks the last week of March, the song with the Candi With Leontiou doing most of the writing initially, and Stanton “He Called Me Baby” sample is on everyone’s programming with Craigie Dodds, the band were very “must hear” list. Kandi is now crossing into Pop, meticulous in all the sounds created for their album. Alternative and many other radio formats, as well as They had the luxury of not being rushed, footing the getting great sync licenses like TV show Bones and expense for their recording and gigging, developing the Discovery Channel campaign. their distinctive sound and being able to present the With reviewers at USA Today, Billboard and Los music in the way they felt it should be. Question
Ask Momma Mona Dear Momma Mona,
I find it so interesting that just a couple of years ago, everywhere i went, people saw and acknowledged me. but i feel as though i am totally invisible now. totally. sometimes i just want to scream. i am here, don’t you see me. what is up with that? i am still me, the same me, but it’s like no one ever knew me that i existed, and they don’t acknowledge or see you at all. they don’t hear me. what do we do? how do you get seen and heard again? is it just in america that women over 50
Dear Invisible at 62,
This is a topic that I have heard much about in the last few years. Guess I must be getting older if friends are talking about it to me! There seems to be a varying scale of invisibility as we age where it affects some people more or less depending upon a long list of factors that include, besides real age, gender (more females), socio-economic status, education level, introversion-extroversion level, chemical imbalance (ie depression), ethnicity, nationality, health, physical attributes, employment, geographical region, social/community involvement, and ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE! Girlfriend, I have seen some ugly, I mean UGLY individuals with fat rolls falling out of their clothes who obviously thought they were some type of God’s Gift to the world. They draw attention not because they are ugly and fat, but because they have attitude. Not only do they draw attention, they COMMAND attention and DEMAND respect. No problem. Think about it. I bet you know of several people older than yourself who commands attention. If you are feeling angry about your situation, then your inner Self is drawing it to your attention that YOU need to do something about it. A pity-party doesn’t count. Ten minutes of exploring pity is the most anyone needs before it is time to pull your Self up by your boot straps, brush yourself off, and start all over again. <do you hear the song?> I’m not sure if attitude is the cure all that can fight the very real and detrimental ageism in American society, but it can sure help you to feel better about it. Trying
don’t exist. even other lesbian women, younger ones, just act like i am not there. makes me mad, and they might not see or hear me, but believe me i can be a very formidable foe. how in the world do women over 50 get jobs or get anything done in the world, because you can’t get anyone to acknowledge that you are an intelligent, interesting, person with great insight and tons of knowledge. what can i do? please help!!!!!!
Invisible at 62
to find employment after age 50 is tough for men and women, gay and hetero alike. And you are right, the young seem to not “see” older individuals. But then again, isn’t that what we did when we were much younger?! Think about the populations that you may not “see” – the indigent person sitting on a park bench, the guy in the wheelchair, service people, someone who is obviously below your socio-economic standing,…… this list can go on and on. As usual, Momma Mona suggests that you Google this topic and see what you can find in the way of helping you change your current “feeling down” energy regarding your age. I’ll save you a little time here. I could not find any specific research about older lesbians who feel invisible because of age. Instead, I found several sites and books about how to be happy after age 50. So be general in your research. Here’s a quote that best summarizes Momma Mona’s philosophy on life: “For the rest of your life: love yourself, love your life, stay as healthy as you can, move your body, be informed, stay engaged, use your mind, keep a handle on your finances, be bold, be brave, walk with confidence, live with style . . . and you will always have the best of everything.” ~Barbara Hannah Grufferman, The Best of Everything After 50: The Experts’ Guide to Style, Sex, Health, Money and More.

Publishers note: From Matt Neumann.
It has been a contentious year for the Eagle and this weekend will be a chance for our community to gather and show our support for this Gay Atlanta landmark and spearhead in the battle for our rights and dignity and share in the victory. Congratulations to Richard and Robbie and the staff of the Eagle! Thank you for 24 great years, and in your victory and vindication in the battle against the dark forces that try our last gay nerves. If you are gay and an Atlantan and don’t stop by the Eagle this week to say thanks for ridding the city of a corrupt police department, murderous unit and protecting your rights, then Fuck You! 2
The Eagle raid and resulting court battles were a victory for all Atlantans, This was Atlanta’s Stonewall,
you and I won, the Eagle led the fight and promised changes have come as a result of this and continued change can only come if we remain united. The war for our rights is not over but we can all rejoice in this major victory and take time to thanks those who stood at the forefront in this battle.
THANK YOU EAGLE!

Vagitarian I
For about a year, I have been exhausted.
used to be a college athlete, and went to school full time. I volunteered, I worked. I had all the energy in the world. I started to have dizzy spells, and notice that my heart rate would jump around a bit. It wasn’t constant. I would have these sporadic episodes every month where I would get extremely tired and dizzy. I started to gain weight because I wasn’t as active, and I started to lose my connection to my dearest friends because I was always too exhausted to go out of follow through with plans. I just didn’t feel like myself. I would call home, or talk to my friends about my symptoms, and everyone would say that I was fine-that I was “just stressed out”. Everyone came to the conclusion that I was probably depressed or having anxiety attacks. I believed them, and was determined to get over this “depression” or “anxiety” on my own. Time went by, and things got progressively worse. About a month ago, I woke up a little more tired than usual, hopped in the shower, got dressed, ate some grub, and went to work at Sauced. I felt fine on the ride there, and perfectly fine while I was serving. About an hour went by, and I was in the kitchen picking up some plates to run to a table of hungry customers. I picked up the plates, turned around to go out of the kitchen, and then-- it hit me. All of the sudden I felt like I was on fire. A rush of heat went from my toes to my head. I felt extremely dizzy, had a massive headache, lost my vision, was having heart palpations, and could not feel my entire left side. My boss was right beside me as it was happening. She called for help, and some of my coworkers rushed to my side to sit me outside on the patio so that I could get some fresh air. “My blood sugar is probably low”, I said. “Maybe I am having an anxiety attack. It’s really busy tonight.” One of the servers went into the back, grabbed a glass of juice, and a bag of ice. They propped the bag of ice on the back of my neck, and I sipped on the juice while I tried to cool down, breathe, and figure out what was going on. 44 davidatlanta

As I sat there, my left side became more numb. It was completely dysfunctional. My boss and coworkers would pop their heads out on the patio ever couple minutes, between running food and taking orders, to check on me. My symptoms kept getting worse. My boss came out on the patio and said, “I’m calling your boyfriend. You’re going to the hospital.” Thirty minutes later, my boyfriend arrives. I could talk, I was making sense, but my left side still wouldn’t function. My boss and a coworker carried me to the car, I got in, and my boyfriend and I drove to the emergency room at Piedmont Hospital. I was terrified, but knew that the only way to calm myself down was to talk. I needed to keep talking. At times I would feel the left side of my mouth droop while I was trying to talk. This terrified me even more. I just kept talking, about things that didn’t matter. He put his hand on my leg to offer comfort, and I can remember thinking to myself, “Oh my God, I can’t feel him.” We arrived at Piedmont. The front desk asked me, “Hello, mam. Why are you here?” I was in a wheelchair because my left side would not function. I looked up from the chair at her and described all of the symptoms I was having. She took my information, and told me to have a seat. My boyfriend wheeled me over to the waiting room which was completely full. People had been sitting there for hours. People who were bleeding, had broken bones... I knew it was going to be quite a wait, but thought that because I was having such serious symptoms, specifically the numbness of my left side and heart palpations, that the nurse would surely call me back sooner than later. An hour went by. Then two. Then three. My boyfriend and I had had it. He marched up to the desk and demanded that they see me. They told him to calm down and to have a seat. I wheeled myself over and said, “My heart feels like it is pounding out of my chest and I think I am going to pass out.” They told me the same thing, and said, “Calm down, mam. You are

A few minutes later, they called me back and took my vitals. My heart rate was 120, and my blood pressure was through the roof. They took me back to a room right away.

That night, and for the rest of the week, I went through an insane number of tests. I saw neurologists and cardiologists around the clock. By day two they had confirmed that I had suffered from a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack), also known as a mini-stroke. They were still unsure about the cause, so I had to go through another series of tests. Mini-strokes are not common in people my age (twenty-three), and this caused a great deal of concern.

For the rest of the week, I tried to stay as positive as possible. I watched as many funny movies as I could, I sketched in my sketchbook, joked around with the nurses, stole kisses from my boyfriend, but in the back of my mind I was the most scared that I have ever been in my entire life. On the second to last day, the cardiologist came in and I knew that something was wrong. She told me that the reason I had a TIA was because I had a hole the size of a quarter in my heart and an aneurysm. The combination of the two, and the thickness of my blood, was causing blood clots to form and allowing them to pass through the hole in my heart and go directly to my brain. I broke down. My boyfriend crawled into my bed and held me as I cried. I couldn’t believe what I had just been told, I didn’t want to believe it. I knew at the moment that my life was about to change forever. The next day the same cardiologist came in and explained that the kind of hole that I have is a PFO (Patent Formamen Ovale). A PFO is “a small hole located in the atrial septum that is used during fetal circulation to speed up the travel of blood through the heart. When in the womb, a baby does not use it’s own lungs for oxygen-rich blood, it relies on the mother to provide oxygen rich blood from the placenta through the umbilical cord to the fetus. Therefore, bloodcan travel from the veins to the right side of the baby’s heart and cross to the left side of the heart through the foramen ovale and skip the trip to the baby’s lungs. Normally, the foramen ovale closes at birth when increased blood pressure on the left side of the heart forces the opening to close. If the atrial septum does not close properly, it is called a patent foramen ovale. This type of defect generally
works like a flap valve, only opening during certain conditions when there is more pressure inside the chest. This increased pressure occurs when people strain while having a bowel movement, cough, or sneeze. If the pressure is great enough, blood may travel from the right atrium to the left atrium. If there is a clot or particles in the blood traveling in the right side of the heart, it can cross the PFO, enter the left atrium, and travel out of the heart and to the brain (causing a stroke) or into a coronary artery (causing a heart attack).” Apparently, I was born with this hole, and had it my entire life. I have played countless basketball games, and have ran infinite miles. Twenty percent of us have this hole and live perfectly normal, healthy lives. Mine, however, was causing me serious danger. Piedmont told me that I was young, and that they do not like to perform the procedure (Cardiac Catheterization) to close the hole on someone my age, unless they feel that it is absolutely necessary. There are some risks associated with the procedure, such as: -Bleeding, infection, and pain where the catheter was inserted. -Damage to blood vessels. Rarely, the catheter may scrape or poke a hole in a blood vessel as it’s threaded to the heart. -An allergic reaction to the dye used. -Arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats). These often go away on their own, but may need treatment if they persist. -Damage to the kidneys caused by the dye used. -Blood clots that can trigger stroke, heart attack, or other serious problems. -Low blood pressure. -A buildup of blood or fluid in the sac that surrounds the heart. This fluid can prevent the heart from beating properly. If I didn’t close the hole, I would have a forty-percent greater risk of having a major stroke. At twenty-three, I did not want to run the risk. I told Piedmont that I wanted to go through with the procedure, but they were still uneasy about doing it. Their uneasiness made me less confident in them. I told them that it was my body, my life, and that I wanted a second opinion. They discharged me that day, told me to take an Asprin a day, and that they would see me in davidatlanta 45
two months. I was not comfortable with that. I called up my good friend, Barry Brandon, and told him what was going on. He is a survivor, and the founder of The Heart Foundation in Georgia. He recommended that I go to Emory, and told me that they are the best in the region. I am from Ohio, and am not familiar with the hospitals in the south. I was going to go home to the Cleveland Clinic, but Barry spoke so highly of Emory that I decided to get a second opinion from them. I called Emory as I was being discharged from Piedmont, told them my diagnosis and what was happening and they agreed to see me right away. I had an appointment a few days after my discharge. I went home to rest, but I kept feeling worse. I wasn’t getting better. I’d stumble and fall, have intense dizzy spells, heart palpations, and I felt completely disoriented. I went to see the cardiologist at Emory, and after listening to me, reviewing my tests and history, there was no question or doubt in his mind that we should go ahead and close the hole. He was extremely helpful, optimistic, and confident. He told me that he would call me in a few days to schedule my surgery, and that if I had any stroke-like symptoms to rush to the emergency room immediately. He shook my hand and said, “Hey, kid, I promise we are going to get your life back. Everything is going to be okay.” Two days later I was sitting at my friends house, and my vision started to go. My heart was racing. I was hot all over. My left side felt weak. I looked at her, and said, “I’m packing my bag. I think this is happening again. I need to go to the hospital.” We raced to the emergency room at Emory. I felt myself slipping during the ride. I got to the emergency room and stumbled out the words, “heart” and “stroke”. They rushed me back. My heart rate was jumping all of the place. It would go from 55bpm to 138bpm. My blood pressure was high. They put me on a table and immediately started an IV, and started injecting me. They scanned my brain to see what was happening and if there were any blood clots anywhere. They injected me with a medication that can help stop a stroke. As soon as I was stable, they put me in a room. The doctor asked me to smile. My left side couldn’t. He asked me to squeeze his hands. My left side couldn’t. He pricked my left leg with a needle. I felt nothing. I had suffered two TIAs in two weeks. The team of cardiologists came into my room and we all decided that we were going to close the hole. Two days later, I was on the operating table. My surgeons name was Dr. Block. He said, “I’m Dr. Block, and I am going to block the hole in your heart.” He made me smile. He was very thorough. They all were. They explained everything that I needed to know, and made me feel as comfortable and as confident as possible. I 46 davidatlanta
went through with the Cardiac Catheterization. They implanted a device called an Amplatzer in my heart. An Amplatzer is “designed to conform to the inner wall of a cardiac structure with a depth of 10mm or more and provide secure device placement. Positional forgiveness is achieved through a waist that acts as an articulating, compliant connection between the disc and lobe allowing the disc to self-orient to the cardiac wall. The disc is designed to completely cover the orifice of the cardiac structure and provide apposition against the chamber wall under gentle tension.” Basically-- it is a cardiac plug made of soft metal. My surgery was a success! The hole was successfully closed. It has been about a week since surgery, and I am feeling better than ever. I am on blood thinners and have to be extra cautious about infections so that I do not develop Endocarditis. I am completely relieved! My heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels are all normal now. I am adjusting to my medications, but I honestly feel like a new person! This entire experience has given me a new perspective on life. Spring has arrived, and with it, so has my rebirth. I wanted to share with you my story to encourage you to: 1. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY- you know your body better than anyone else. If you don’t feel well, or like yourself, go to the doctor. Schedule checkups. It is better to be safe and sure. Take care of yourself and put yourself first. The only way that you are going to be valuable to anyone else, in any kind of relationship, is if you are healthy. Don’t sacrifice your health for others. 2. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION- medicine is a practice. Doctors are practicing medicine. Some have more practice than others. Don’t ever make a serious decision about your health without getting a second opinion. It’s worth the comfort. I’m glad I did. It may have saved my life. Barry Brandon and The Heart Foundation have offered their help during my time of struggle with some financial relief and support. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without their help. The Heart Foundation “aims to alleviate the financial stress and burdens put on family and friends of heart patients who are undergoing surgery or serious invasive procedures.” When I am healthy and able, I want to give back to The Heart Foundation. This opportunity has given me the ability to focus all of my energy on myself and my recovery, instead of financial stress. I am forever grateful to Barry, his family, and his foundation. To learn how you can make a donation to The Heart Foundation, and give patients a gift from the heart, e-mail them at gingrisano@yahoo.com.

he hotly-tipped Rumer will release her first single, ‘Slow’, on April 5th (Atlantic Records). Driven by a stop-what-you’re-doing voice, ‘Slow’ is a smouldering, unrequited love song, and a tantalising taste of her self-penned debut album (due in the summer). An authentic and emotional songwriter, Rumer’s nontraditional musical upbringing has shaped her classic yet contemporary sound. She was born and spent the very early years of her life in Pakistan (her father was the chief-engineer of the enormous Tarbela Dam). The youngest of seven children, living in an expat colony without TV or newspapers, Rumer and her family would often sing and write songs together. It is this folk tradition that she brought with her when the family relocated from this “otherworldly landscape” to the New Forest. There, she first saw – and became captivated by – the technicolour movie musical. “Ever since,” she recalls, “I’ve always looked for that lilting, romantic melody. I basically wanted to write the soundtrack for Hedy Lamaar walking down that spiral staircase.”
Lyrically, Rumer’s songs draw on this rich and complex personal history. Her parents separated at the age of eleven, when it emerged that her biological father was in fact the family’s Pakistani cook, with whom her mother had struck up a relationship. Years later, whilst singing for the indie band La Honda, Rumer leaned that her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer. She swiftly moved back to the New Forest to be near her, living in a caravan in a wreckers’ yard and teaching drama at a local college (despite a lack of qualifications). Her mother died in 2003, and Rumer, working as everything from a pot washer to a popcorn seller back in London, hit rock bottom. She sought refuge in a stately home in the countryside, living and
working in what was essentially a commune, owned by a “charismatic, philanthropic baronet.” It was in this colourful yet liberating environment that Rumer finally threw herself back into writing music.
‘Slow’, then, signposts a time when Rumer’s luck finally started to change. At an Open Mic night in Kensal Rise, she met, by chance, award-winning TV and musical composer Steve Brown. Perhaps Steve Brown hasn’t led a life quite as turbulent as Rumer’s, but anyone who’s written songs for Harry Hill and featured in the Alan Partridge TV show ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’ as band leader Glenn Ponder… well, it’s quite a CV in itself. Brown quickly became Rumer’s producer, and gradually, things began to fall into place. She was then found by her manager, when he posted a question not at all related to music on his Facebook page: “Who Is The Most Underrated Person You Know?” Five separate people, none of whom knew each other, replied with the word ‘Rumer’. Finally, in March 2010 - and after a decade of trying to catch a break - Rumer finally signed to Atlantic Records. Rumer’s debut album is a beautiful, autobiographical yet brilliantly universal record. ‘Slow’ is just a glimpse into an array of timeless, quality pop songs: see the soaring ‘Am I Forgiven?’, the ache of ‘Healer’, and the fragile beauty of ‘Aretha’. And if you require any more validation of the talent on show, you could do worse than ask Burt Bacharach, who heard of Rumer through the grapevine, and was so won over that he flew her to California and asked her to write with him. “I cried with joy when I found out,” she says. “If Burt Bacharach says you’re good, you have to start believing it too.”

Horoscopes Aries Don’t just say the first thing that comes to mind — you need to be sure you have everything down pat before moving forward. Your friends may look to you for leadership right now — and you’re more than happy to oblige.
SAGITTARIUS Make sure you don’t get too hung up on old ideas this week— it’ll be hard to detach from formerly held beliefs. You’ll need to adapt to new styles quickly, especially as the week goes on and the need for flexibility increases.
TAURUS You’re feeling more social than you have in a while, and you’re making new connections with ease. By the time middle of next week, though, you may start to get a few hints of overload, so take it easy.
CAPRICORN You can only do so much about it at the moment, but you should recognize when you’re projecting an image that doesn’t match the real you. Start finding ways to let out your true self. It’ll be absolutely liberating!
GEMINI You feel great right now, and you should be able to have a good time doing almost anything. Something to do with money or possessions will start to get a little worrisome though by the end of the week.
AQUARIUS Don’t let anyone distract you from the big ideas coming your way right now You’ll have a flash of inspiration that points you toward a new depth of philosophy — go ahead and forge your own path. Others won’t be able to catch up.
CANCER Stick to your guns, and don’t let anyone convince you that your ideals can be set aside. If you do, you’ll charm that one hottie with such fierceness that you may end up with a new love connection.
PISCES You’re totally thinking about your friends and family — and what they think of you. You’ll need to take care of a few things if you want to maintain your standing and keep your culture vibrant.
Leo You may feel kind of jerked around romantically, but things will smooth out eventually. Sometime this week, however, things will take a strange turn and you may not want to go forward. VIRGO Don’t believe a word anyone says this week, especially if their talk sounds like the truth. By the time this next week rolls around, your determination to get the facts straight will pay off in a big way. LIBRA You’re still riding high from the craziness of the past few days, but eventually you’ll be forced to recognize that someone close to you needs your help. Figure out what’s really going on, then step up and offer it. SCORPIO Don’t get distracted by anything until next week, or you’ll spin into a very strange place that’ll be hard to get out of. If you stay on track, you’ll be exactly where you want to be by then. 52 davidatlanta

Bitch Session To all the cute guys: please get a job and move out of your parents’ or friends’ houses already! Thanks
Is anyone even watching American Idol? It’s so lame this year.
If you weren’t the Harriet Tubman to Heaven, Thank you for the bar nights, the cute I’d be rottin’ in Hell. dates, the long distance phone calls and dedication to leading a fulfilled life. Can we have sex now?
Don’t hate on twinks. They are just kids having fun.
Why is it every time I go out, I have to explain my ethnicity? Your Napoleon Complex is really starting to grate on my nerves, you self-important Oompa Loompa! I would die not to want to have you in my arms anymore.
When you grow a pair, you can call me back.
This town is turning iWnto one giant Walmart. It’s got everything you need but nothing is cute.
Too bad you can’t use all that dubious wealth to buy yourself some morals. We sleep together. You send me dirty texts. We spend our free time together. It makes me wonder why we broke up in the first place.
You didn’t want gay bars or businesses in I have yet to meet a black lesbian couple your neighborhood. What do empty store that doesn’t meet the stud/fem stereotype. fronts do for your property values? Where are all the Chapstick black lesbians? You ladies are SO cliché! If we have nothing left in our relationship, how can you expect me to keep supporting you and giving you money? You chose someone else. You burned that bridge!
I just want a nice guy who isn’t preoccupied with dating as a social status.
Give the 40-year-olds a break! With any luck, you might just live long enough to be one!
Really, what were you expecting to find in a trendy bar? Love? Real men? Pah-leeze.
The guys over 35 have one thing on us 20-somethings. They were able to move Why is it that I only seem to let you be around here when a person could afford a house me when it’s convenient? Because you let me. with just one job!
