Friends, It occurs to me, that whether we lived in the 50’s or not, most Americans ―remember‖ the 50’s fondly.
For instance, the television show ―Happy Days‖ portrayed the 50’s as an innocent and fun loving time. Ignoring the social ills and political strife of the time, ―Happy Days‖ created an image of a simpler time centering around simpler concerns. These were happy people living in a happier times. While this is an idealization of that period of time, still there are qualities that we have lost or forgotten in America. A simplicity of living, optimism and sense of community all have degraded over the past five decades.
Despite the economic trouble in our country and the political and social ills, we can live on the ―upside‖ of life. These days can be ―happy days.‖ It is time to rediscover the Biblical values lost to a time of mindless consumption and ―cheap‖ commercial development. I hope you will join us in November for a very special sermon series that can literally change your life. Yours in Christ,
