LEARNING TO DRAW, LEARNING TO SEE
DAILY PAINTERS CLASS
Carla Golembe
For beginner/intermediate This course will introduce beginners to the fundamentals of drawing and allow intermediate students to hone their abilities in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. The class will teach students how to create drawings from observation, with a focus on sighting, use of line, shading, mark making, elements of composition and creativity. Students will build technical skill and develop personal expression while drawing from a variety of subjects. Participants will have the opportunity to combine learning to see with working inventively. In addition to class projects, students who wish to draw outside of class will receive suggestions for projects tailored to their personal skills and desires. Students will receive individualized attention and become familiar with verbal expression of visual language.

Generous, quick and well-placed strokes will give you fresher, simpler more effective paintings. You can work from an image that the instructor can supply or an image you provide, which you can print out. Tuesday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Terms 1, 3 and 4 (4 Weeks)

PRODUCING A BODY OF PHOTOGRAPHIC WORK Bob Neiman
For advanced and master level photographers As photographers mature in their image making, they begin to identify themes and styles in their work. This process culminates in developing one or more bodies of work. Creating a consistent body of photographic images allows the photographer to more fully explore their ideas and techniques. Galleries, museums, and other venues showing photographic artwork generally require between 5 and 20 images that can be clearly identified as belonging together under one theme and aesthetic. This class will begin with an initial discussion of what comprises a body of work. The instructor will show several examples from his portfolios of images.
Photography Instructor, Russell Levine
Participants will be encouraged to discuss and critique these portfolios. Participants will be encouraged to bring in a portfolio of 5 to 12 photographic prints to share with the group. The images will be viewed as a group. Participants will critique each portfolio based on themes of consistency, how well the images work together as a group, the strength of individual images, and how effective the portfolio is.
