Fonta Flora County Park

PARK PLANNING, DESIGN, & ENGINEERING

The NC Fonta Flora State Trail will ultimately extend 40 miles connecting the Cities of Morganton and Asheville. DbD has led the development of multiple trail master plans, established the trail facility design manual, and has engineered and overseen the construction of various trail sections and trail heads.

Ecusta Trail

GREENWAY BRANDING & SIGNAGE

The Ecusta Trail will be a 19.4-mile greenway along an abandoned railway corridor connecting Hendersonville and Brevard. Not just a path but a linear park for people of all ages. Our branding work and signage concepts for Ecusta Trail focus on fostering connections between communities, promoting health, and contributing to the economic and cultural vitality of the region.

Harney County

COMMUNITY BRANDING & MARKETING

One of the most remote areas in the continental US, we are helping Harney County, Oregon to position themselves as an innovative steward of its natural resources, promoting its natural resource economy, and embracing their frontier identity. The brand essence revolves around the elements of land, water, sky, and soul, with a focus on becoming an example of stewardship within the region.

Carolina Harmony Trail

TRAIL BRANDING & ENGINEERING

The Carolina Harmony Trail will ultimately extend 12 miles, but for now, the DbD team is focused on establishing the trail identity, design and development within the client’s downtown core. We’ve used branding and facility design to ensure the trail is distinguished yet complimentary to other regional trails, while striving to create a vibrant, green spine within the city’s urban setting.

Laurel Creek Park

PARK PLANNING, DESIGN & ENGINEERING

The Virginia Creeper trail boasts of 250,000+ visitors each year. DbD partnered with the Town of Damascus to create Laurel Creek Park to attract these users to further activate downtown. This required thoughtful design and significant coordination with local business owners. Construction finished in 2021 with trail expansion through the heart of Main Street and the creation of a new public plaza along Laurel Creek.

Rocky Knob Bike Park

PARK MASTER PLAN & IMPLEMENTATION

Boone’s 185-acre mountain bike park, Rocky Knob is recognized as a premier riding destination in the Southeast. We oversaw the creation of this $3.5 million facility from concept, design, brand, to construction.

Beckley Outdoors

OUTDOOR TOURISM PLAN

& DESTINATION BRANDING

The Beckley Outdoors Plan and the Basecamp Beckley brand will establish and promote Beckley, WV as a premier outdoor destination.

In addition, the DbD planning team led a tourism master planning effort to develop and improve unique outdoor infrastructure such as trails, greenways, river accesses, rock climbing areas, parks, public art, and multiuse public spaces for events and festivals. These projects aim to create a vibrant City that attracts and retains businesses, residents, and visitors.

RoCo Blueway

BRANDING, BLUEWAY GUIDE, AND COMMERCIAL VIDEO

We took on the mission of branding Rockingham County’s water based assets consisting of four rivers, three lakes, and waterside trails. By crafting an alluring visual brand, a comprehensive blueway guide and visitor guide, and commercial video, the brand anthem “Rock the RoCo!” invites visitors to embark on an unforgettable journey into North Carolina’s aquatic wonderland.
