A Letter From The President Dear Deering Bay Members, I hope you all have had an enjoyable summer. The Club had a busy July full of construction, golf course maintenance, and training.

Thank you to once again to the Golf Course Maintenance team for all the hard work they put in during their aerification earlier this month. If you have been on the Golf Course lately, you may have noticed that the sod has been stripped from the 12th and 16th tees for leveling. Thank you for your patience during aerification, it will all pay off when we have beautiful greens this season! The Golf Course will be closed from Monday, August 8th through Friday, August 12th for our third and final aerification of the summer.

The Club continues to have strong year-to-date results but the slower summer season has certainly had its effect on revenues. In June, course closures resulted in the early part of the month due to the storms followed by the week-long aerification closure. Year-to-date revenues have exceeded the prior year by over $1.4M and the club continues to generate positive net operating income, exceeding prior year-to-date results by $152K. We are pleased to announce our transition to Amerant Bank as we have secured a new loan in order to continue the next phase of our upgrades and capital projects for the club. Fifth Third Bank also provided a competitive offer and their team showed us a great deal of professionalism in how they conduct business although we ultimately felt that Amerant was the best fit for our future needs. Thanks to the Deering Bay finance team for leading the way and ensuring a smooth close with Amerant. However, it certainly came with some challenges as we closed with our previous bank, Truist. They made the process very difficult for our team and we have expressed our displeasure with the representatives at Truist. We feel they have severed a sound business relationship with Deering Bay and they did not look out for our best interests despite our long-standing relationship with them. Regardless, we are excited to move on with Amerant and we were thrilled with the level of service they provided us during the transition. We highly recommend them for any future banking needs our membership may have. A Letter From The General Manager Dear Deering Bay Members, I hope you all are having an amazing final few weeks of summer. We have accomplished a lot here at the Club over the past few months, and we are gearing up to welcome back many of our members who spent the summer traveling!

Our golf and summer camps have been wonderful and it has been great to see our younger members having fun and learning new skills at Deering Bay.

We have launched a new reservation system on the website and app for booking Tennis Courts, private golf lessons, and group fitness classes. If you would like to learn more about these new features, please reach out to Daniella and Kylie. In the coming weeks, be on the lookout for some new technology in the Food & Beverage department! We will soon be launching online and in-app dining reservations and food ordering directly from the golf cars. The Deering Bay Team is excited to get these new features up and running for the membership. We have applied for permitting to commence the parking lot renovation and installation of the Pickle Ball courts. We will keep the membership updated on the progress of these projects. Our Tennis players are now enjoying some play after dark with the installation of new lighting on the Tennis Courts. All of the underground work has been completed for the 19th Hole and the pylons have been installed. They are working on the structure now and construction is moving forward. Completion date is expected January 4th. August will feature some fun events for the membership to close out the summer. Be sure to join us for our weekly Pasta Night on Thursdays, Prime Rib Night on Saturdays, and Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. We will also be hosting plenty of exciting fitness events, the End of Summer Pool Party, a Ladies Night, a Wine Tasting, Movie Night, and a Sunshine Saturday. The New 19th Hole Bar/Grill – COMING SOON! The 19th Hole Bar/Grill construction is progressing on schedule with an opening planned for January 2023, just in time for great weather. The new 19th Hole Bar/Grill will feature views of the Golf Course and the Pool. There will be comfortable banquet seating in addition to traditional tables and chairs, featuring a new, modern design. In addition to a new design, the 19th Hole Bar/Grill will feature a new menu and craft cocktail list. News From Golf Dear Members, July was an action-packed month for us. We got through a majority of our Junior Summer Camp schedule as well as hosted a Junior Links Tour event.

We had our second course closure this month as well. This DryJect Aerification went extremely well--we had golfers report that they were surprised at how quickly the greens were rolling smooth upon reopening. Huge props to Dan and his team for that.

As we move into August, we have a couple of dates to keep in mind. We are hosting our last golf junior summer camp the week of August 2nd – 5th. We will have our last aerification week from the 9th – 12th of August. The course will reopen for business as usual on Saturday, August 13th. We are continuing to gear up for the start of our season and looking forward to more and more people returning. Thank you, Craig

News From The Golf Course Dear Deering Bay Members, The last closure of the summer here at Deering Bay is almost upon us and for the first day of this closure we will be using a Verti-Quake implement on our greens. The tractor mounted machine will be slowly turning large blades into the green that are set slightly offset to each other. The offset will create a moving wave in the soil profile. The wave action breaks up any layering Daniel Stover issues and reduces compaction down to 10” below the Director of Golf Course Maintenance surface. The whole process only take about 3 hours but d.stover@dbycc.com once completed we will benefit with a faster draining surface throughout the season. We saw great results from this process at the Ocean Reef Club last summer and I expect to see similar results here at Deering Bay.

Following directly behind the Verti-Quake we will be aerifying one time with a small ¼” hollow core tine and a topdress to clean up any minor surface disruption that may be caused. In addition to our greens maintenance we will also be flattening sand dams on greens fronts and fixing imperfections in collars that were created from the same procedure last summer. News From Food & Beverage Dear Deering Bay Members, I hope you all are having a wonderful summertime with your families and friends. I’m glad to be back and healthy. From our Food & Beverage team we appreciate all the members who joined us at our July special events. Burger Week was a total success, and we definitely have another one soon. We are currently working in collaboration with Director of Fitness Steven Tilton to bring wellness juices to our morning offerings and add healthy options to our menu.

Please join us on Sunday, August 14th from 12:00pm - 3:00pm for our End of Summer Pool Party. We will have something for everyone to enjoy including food, beverages, music, and a water slide! We continue to have our Pasta Night every Thursday and Prime Rib every Saturday night. On August 19th we will have a Mediterranean night specialty menu. Chef Surelys has put together an exquisite menu that I’m sure you all will enjoy. On Wednesday, August 24th we invite you to a Wine Tasting Seminar. Our dear friend James Hilferty from Republic National will be visiting us and will give interesting facts of wine world. News From Tennis Dear Members, The Tennis department would like to wish everyone a safe and fun rest of the summer. The Ladies Clinics are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 9:30am and ending at 11:00am. Also on Tuesdays, we have the Men’s Clinic from 7:00pm to 8:00 pm. Please call the Pro Shop and let us know if you would like to attend.

We are excited to be using our new online and in-app reservations system for tennis court bookings. If you are having trouble booking a tennis court online, please call the Tennis Pro Shop and we will take care of you! The new lights are almost completely installed and we discovered additional electrical work was required on three of the lighting poles and are fixing them as well. Please keep a look out for flyers with dates and times of future events or contact the tennis Pro Shop for further details or questions. We look forward to implementing classes on the weekends and evenings as the season rolls around. August will be a month for the books as it is full of events to keep everyone fit and healthy here at the Bay! Starting with our health and wellness events such as National Friendship Day, National Farmers Week, Chant at the Moon Event, National Couples Day, World Water Week, National Women’s Equality Day and National Trail Mix Day. We will also be starting our new Deering Bay Runners Club called Run4Fun at the Bay. Please keep an eye out for our August Fitness Magazine for more details. Again, these functions will cultivate a strong sense of deep root connections between the staff and members. We celebrate all and encourage everyone to participate as we will survive and thrive together through this summer. It is also National Sports Week so be on the lookout for Deering Bay’s inaugural 2-on-2 basketball tournament at the end of the month. For Farmers Week we will bring in organic fruit from the local farmers market for the members in the gym to enjoy. During World Water Week, we have planned a hydration fact sheet to be published in our fitness magazine as well as launch our new water inspired class called “Tsunami” on August 27th. I am enjoying meeting all the smiling faces throughout the club. Thank you for your motivating and powerful support as I settle in here at the Bay! I am looking forward to bringing you “What’s New, What’s Now and What’s Next,” to keep us not only healthy and mentally fit, but also relevant and groundbreaking throughout.
