A Letter From The President

Dear Deering Bay Members,

I hope you are all doing well. It has been great seeing more members around the Club as they return from their summer travels. We are looking forward to an eventful season here at Deering Bay.

As you know, over the last few days of September, the Golf Course received a lot of rain due to Hurricane Ian. After three days of being closed, we were able to reopen the Golf Course on Friday, September 30th. Thank you to our Golf Course Maintenance team for draining, mowing, and clearing the Golf Course so quickly.

August revenues remained strong for the Club, exceeding budgeted revenues by approximately $72,000. Year to date, the Club continues to generate positive net operating income and we are well positioned to finish the year strongly as we approach our busy season. We have exceeded our prior year net operating income by $281,000. We are expecting the trend to continue for

the remainder of the year due to anticipated increased membership engagement at the Club as we head into the busy fall season.

Construction of the 19th Hole is still underway, but we encountered some unexpected delays due to permitting and inspection issues. However, we were able to resolve the issue today, October 6th and received the green light to move forward. The steel rebar work will commence tomorrow and within the next week we should see the foundation being poured so we can start going vertical with construction.

After comparing multiple bids, we have selected a vendor for the Pool renovation and are in the process of finalizing the contract with the vendor. The Pool renovation is expected to start within 3060 days once we receive permitting and completion should be 2-3 months after renovations begin.

In addition to the Pool renovation, we are looking at plans to install a splash pad or zero entry kiddie pool for our younger members to enjoy. This additional structure will be located on the grassy area in the southwest corner next to the Pool. We are in the process of seeking bids for the construction. This construction project should not interfere with Pool and surrounding deck renovations.

Renderings are being completed for Phase II of the Clubhouse renovation project and when completed, a townhall meeting will be scheduled to share them with the broader members and seek input. For the 1st subphase, materials and treatments have selected and we are in the process of obtaining competitive bids for each aspect. Unfortunately, this 1st subphase will not be fully completed by the holidays as we hoped, due to permitting requirements. However, you can expect to see changes and improvements beginning in the near future.

Permits have been submitted for construction of two pickleball courts as well as a renovation of the parking lot. We will keep you updated on the progress of these projects.

As you can see, there are a lot of changes in progress with more to come. We will continue to keep everyone updated on developments.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the six families that will be joining Deering Bay as of this month! As we near capacity at the Club, please do not hesitate to reach out to Director of Membership Daniella Tosta with any prospective member referrals.

Hope to see you at the Club.

A Letter From The General Manager

Dear Deering Bay Members,

It is officially Fall and we are preparing for what will be an exciting season here at Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club!

It has been great seeing more and more members here every day on the Golf Course, working out in the Fitness Center, on the Tennis Courts, and dining with us in the Clubhouse.

October will be an action-packed month as we kick off our golf season with the first MGA Event, WGA Opener, MemberMember-Guest Tournament and two Monday outings.

The tennis season is also in full-swing with our Men’s and Women’s Doubles Tournaments and Handicap Challenge Ladders beginning this month. The Tennis Department will also be hosting their festive Halloween Tennis Night Out event on October 28th.

We have plenty of other fun events this month for everyone to enjoy including our Lobster Fest this Friday, a Car Club Meetup featuring a Tesla test drive, our New Member Reception, Halloween Karaoke Night, a Club Luncheon, our annual Pumpkin Carving event, and the Junior Golf Sunday Funday! Please visit the Deering Bay App or Website to RSVP for these events. We look forward to seeing you there.

I am happy to announce that we have hired a Restaurant Manager, Dwayne Walden, who will be starting here at Deering Bay on Tuesday, October 17th. Dwayne will be an amazing addition to our Food & Beverage Team, so please be sure to give him a warm welcome to our Deering Bay family!

In preparation for the busy season, we have been hiring many new team members for our Food & Beverage and Golf departments. You will be seeing some new faces around over the coming weeks as we work hard training our new team members!

Thank you to everyone who supported our team member Kique Gomez during his audition for NBC’s The Voice on Monday, October 3rd. We have been lucky to hear Kique’s talents over the past year here at Deering Bay, and we are so proud of him for showcasing those talents to the world!

Happy October!

Fran

News From Membership

Dear Deering Bay Members,

It’s hard to believe that October has arrived, and we are already preparing for Fall and soon the Holiday season!

A big thanks to all the Cowgirls who came to last month’s Western Ladies Night. It was so much fun to see all the creative outfits and camaraderie. We hope to see you on Wednesday, October 19th for Halloween Karaoke Night, this time you can bring the boys, please don’t leave them at home alone or at the bar! Make sure to RSVP by calling (305) 278 - 8688 or online.

This month we have a great group of new families joining Deering Bay, some are new to Miami, and some are new Deering Bay residents. Let’s give them a warm welcome to the Bay when you see them around the Club.

Lastly, the staff at Deering Bay is continuously working to improve our communication to the membership. Please make it a point to review that your information in your membership profile is correct. We understand that emails occasionally may go to junk or spam boxes, but we want to continue to work and make sure everyone is up to date with the club’s activities.

Thank you and see you around the club! Daniella

News From GolfNews From Golf

Hello members,

We are excited to be moving into the busy season here at Deering Bay. We are starting to see some familiar faces returning as well as the addition of some of the newer membership. October really is the month where we start seeing our operations ramp up. As such, there are a few dates I would love to put on your calendars.

Our first Men’s Golf Association event is on Saturday, October 15th while our Women’s Golf Association Opening Day is on Thursday, October 20th. There is a great social aspect to these events in addition to the golf, so it serves as a great place to get to know people, especially the existing membership.

Sunday, October 23rd is our Sunday Funday Junior Golf event. We had to reschedule the original date on October 2nd due to rain outs impacting the junior golf class schedule. Sign ups for this event are in the Golf Shop.

Our Men’s Member-Member-Guest is on October 28th. Sign ups for that event will start soon, so stay tuned!

Welcome back to those of you who are returning or have returned this month. We are excited to have you back and are looking forward to season full of golf and great events!

Thank you, Craig

News From The Golf CourseGolf

Dear Deering Bay Members,

September’s weather here in Miami has always been less than ideal. Our average rainfall for the area is typically around ten inches. After Hurricane Ian our rainfall totals for the month almost doubled the average. Thirteen days this month we have had rain. Given all that wet weather, the greens have remained healthy and course conditions are still headed in the right direction.

Over the last week in September, the King Tides peaked just as Hurricane Ian was hitting Florida, making it particularly difficult to drain the Golf Course. The silver lining is that hurricane prediction models are getting far more accurate than just a few years ago. We were able to begin our golf course preparations over a week before the storm made landfall.

The first week of October forecast looks sunny which will be a welcomed break for a very soggy golf course. The 9th and 10th of this month however bring the next King Tide which coincides with a full moon. Cart paths may become impassable during these days, we will keep you informed as we get closer.

The remainder of the peak King Tide days for the season are as follows:

Oct 9th – 10th

Oct 26th – 27th

Nov 8th - 9th

Nov 24th - 25th

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at d.stover@dbycc.com.

Thank you, Dan

News From Food & Beverage

Dear Members,

It is so nice to start seeing some familiar faces back in the club.

From our Food & Beverage Team, we appreciate all the members who joined during our September events. The Asian theme night was a total success, with more than 120 members joining us that night.

We continue to get great feedback from the “Comfort at the Bay” menu section and the weekly daily specials. We will continue to have our Pasta Night every Thursday and Prime Rib every Saturday night.

Keep an eye on your emails every Tuesday morning to see our specials for the week. Our weekly specials will be available both for dine-in and takeout orders.

We have a Wine Tasting event with Southern Wine and Glazers on October 26 to introduce some of the wines that we will be featuring during the fall season.

Once again thank you for allowing us to be your host. I’m looking forward to having you in our Clubhouse.

Anacelis

News From Tennis

Dear Deering Bay Members,

The heat is lessening but sweat is still dripping with intense tennis competition from the green clay of Deering Bay to the hard courts of US Open.

Iga Swiatek displayed her power and Carlos Alcaraz dominated as the hard-court king. Both won the title with well-deserved wins against the best players in the world.

However impressive, Iga and Carlos are not the only two making a mark in the wonderful world of tennis, our Men and Ladies’ Teams have been preparing and competing impressively for their respective seasons and our Tennis Program is full of lessons and clinics.

October is shaping up to be a great month, with many SFWDL and USTA matches to be played and clinics and lessons to be held. In addition to our clinics, on Friday, October 28th we will be hosting a Halloween Tennis Night Out, where our members are not only competing for the best player, but for the best costume as well. We would like to thank our members for supporting the tennis program and remind you all that the Tennis Shop hours of operation are Tuesday Through Sunday from 8:30am to 4:00pm.

For clinics, events, merchandise sales, and more of the tennis program, please keep a look out for flyers, e-blasts, or contact the Tennis Pro Shop. We would all like to wish everyone a happy tennis season and we look forward to seeing new and familiar faces alike!

Thank you, Pedro
