Give us a brief history and overview of your company.

After doing sales for Knoll, Lloyd Scott opened her own showroom in a tiny space in what was then the “Design Experience.” Shortly after, she met Josy Cooner, who was working across the street as a sales associate in the Brueton Showroom. The two launched Scott + Cooner in 1995 and moved to the Decorative Center in the Design District in 2003. An Austin showroom was added in 2000. In 2021, Scott + Cooner ownership was acquired by Amanda and Jud Taylor—former employees who are thrilled to be continuing its legacy.

What product range do you offer, and what would you say you specialize in? What are some of the most sought-after lines you carry?

We carry over 100 brands of upscale modern furniture, with kitchens, closets, lighting, and accessories from all over the world. We specialize in carefully curated products—pieces you won’t find in other places and things with innovative design stories. We carry Cassina, Knoll, Paola Lenti, Poliform, Poltrona Frau, and many more.

What are the cornerstones of your company? What do you feel distinguishes you from your competitors?

To give our customers the best modern design along with premium service, and the sheer volume of incredible lines we carry and the wonderful experience that is the showroom.

For someone who has never visited your store, what can they expect?

Expect a gigantic wonderland of breathtaking modern design and a greeting by friendly staff. There’s so much to explore and delight you.

Are you open to the public or to the trade only?

We are open to the public, though the majority of our customers are designers.

Can you tell us about a particular instance in which you delivered exceptional customer service?

We’re not afraid to go above and beyond to give the best customer service possible. We had a client who lived in a rural area. The client’s movers cancelled last minute, so we rented a U-Haul, drove the furniture to the site, and installed it in time for their big event.

What do you wish more people knew about your store or industry?

That modern design and highquality craftsmanship stand the test of time—they’re worth the investment. But we also carry lines that can fit a project that has budget constraints.
