Give us a brief history and overview of your company.

Twenty years ago, I opened Talulah Belle in Lakewood. I wanted somewhere that offered specialty gifts and curated items to meet a variety of needs. When Talulah Belle hit our 10-year mark, we found ourselves outgrowing our space and product selections. Our expansion into the space next door allowed us to meet the demand for modern furniture and home accessories at a price point that could fit any budget. We opened HESS-Home Essentials Simply Stated in 2012, giving our customers an expanded collection of home decor, art, furniture, lighting, and textiles. In 2017, we had an opportunity to relocate to a 3,000-square-foot showroom space, and we merged our two brands, combining our product offerings into a unique shopping experience.

What product range do you offer, and what do you specialize in?

Our community is at the core of our inspiration. A mix of modern and historic, our clients’ needs influence many of our design and product choices. We strive to offer our clients exceptional value, with quality products at a mix of price points. Original art and luxury goods beautifully blend with comparable pieces at a lower price. As a true lifestyle boutique, we offer the best in gift, home, baby, loungewear, and more. Add to that our fresh flowers, chocolate, and wine, and we have something for everyone.

How would you describe the aesthetic of your offerings?

Every year, Talulah & HESS features a theme or focus and carries that through the holiday season. In these themes, we thoughtfully select our product offerings, design the updated store layout, and create a cohesive story. This approach follows us throughout the year when ordering for each season. It allows us consistency and gives our customers fresh inspiration and something new. This year, we’ve expanded our luxury goods offering based on feedback from our clients.

What are the cornerstones of your company? What do you feel distinguishes you from your competitors?

We strive to offer a something-foreveryone experience. Our success is rooted in our mission of “Beautiful Giving, Modern Living.” It is our hope that Talulah & HESS supports that for our clients. Our incredible team works tirelessly to offer clients goods and an experience to enhance life, give back to the community, and elevate the everyday.

For someone who has never visited your store, what can they expect?

Our clients’ experience in-store has always been integral to our success. From the moment you step inside our blush pink doors, we aim to delight all five senses. On weekends, we offer complimentary champagne and chocolate truffles. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and meant to offer clients a space to unwind and be themselves. Our ever-changing product offerings keep clients engaged and excited to discover something new with every visit.
