Widener University’s Volleyball team would like to thank the following sponsors Tammy & Mark Ballew Jamie Ballew Kathleen & Gene Barbieri

Widener’s volleyball and basketball teams play their home games at Schwartz Center. The facility sports a weight room, swimming pool and classrooms for our student-athletes. The gym in 2007 had extensive renovations with new bleachers and new scoreboards installed. Renovations continued in 2008 with the gym floor resurfaced and the addition of championship banners. Also in Schwartz Center, the women’s locker rooms were remodeled in 2007 and the pool received a massive overhaul in 2008. A new wellness center was constructed adjacent to Schwartz Center and opened in 2006. Our athletics administration has its offices in the third-floor suite.

COACHING STAFF / ROSTER

Donovan Anglin • Head Coach Donovan Anglin is in his 11th season as head women’s volleyball coach and 21st overall with the program. The squad continues to excel against the nation’s elite and the goal of winning the program’s first Commonwealth Conference still is well within reach. The Pride in 2008 notched a school-record 26 wins and a berth in the ECAC South Tournament for their first postseason trip. The squad upended City College of New York at home to earn a berth in the semifinals. The team returned to postseason in 2009, defeating Swarthmore in the ECAC South Tournament quarterfinals as part of a 22-win campaign. Widener that season also upended eventual conference champion Lebanon Valley. The Pride in 2011 made even more history by hosting a conference tournament match for the first time in school history, going 22-11 that season for their fourth consecutive 20-win campaign. The 2012 unit made it back to the conference tournament and once again hosted a match. The volleyball team under Anglin’s watch has produced three valedictorians in Rachel Chizmadia (2007), Becky Rohrbaugh (2007) and Veronica Vizzard (2014). Chizmadia and Rohrbaugh each were named Capital One CoSIDA second team Academic All-Americas and Vizzard was picked third team Academic All-America. Anglin served as an assistant from 1994-2003 and was named coach prior to the 2004 campaign. A 1993 graduate of Widener University with a B.A. in Communication Studies, Anglin served as head coach for the men’s club volleyball team during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. PREVIEW Widener’s volleyball team has enjoyed a wealth of success over its 32-year history, but no more so than in the last few campaigns that has brought it among the region’s elite. Ten talented players are back in the fold along with many solid newcomers in hopes of bringing the team its first Commonwealth Conference title. Senior Kaitlin Schnalzer is one of three Honorable Mention all-conference picks who returns this season. One of the league’s top hitters who has made herself a presence on the court both in the middle and at outside, the Bethlehem, PA native already enters the season 10th in school history with 763 kills. Senior Victoria Miller stepped into the libero role a season ago and her solid defense also made her an Honorable Mention all-conference selection. Continuing in the great tradition of solid defensive players in the program, the West Chester, PA product last season paced the team and ranked fourth in the conference with 4.95 digs per set (480 total). Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Ruditys last year stepped into the role of outside hitter like it was hers and did not relinquish it, leading to her conference accolade. An incredible athlete who led the team with 296 kills a season ago, she is the only returning player who last season competed in all 31 matches. Like Ruditys, sophomore Sabrina Barbieri joined the fray last season and made an immediate impact. A solid setter and a great playmaker, she ended last season fifth in the league with 825 assists that already places her eighth in school history. Senior Caitlin Horan is a two-sport athlete who made the most of her extended playing time from a season ago. Given the opportunity to excel last season, the Morristown, NJ native did just that and she seeks to add to her resume in her final campaign. Senior Jessica Dembeck looks to be healthy all year after missing significant time a season ago due to injury. On the floor, she was fifth last year on the squad with 103 kills and surely 2014 Home Matches Tue.
