LASIO KERATIN TREATMENTS

Lasio Keratin Treatments are heat activated, smoothing, and restorative hair treatments that eliminate 100% of frizz. Lasio Keratin Treatments reduce curl from the hair without breaking the bonds of the hair shaft like a chemical relaxer or a perm. Lasio Keratin Treatments are not permanent.

Our heat activated treatments help to reduce blow dry time and add shine to hair by restoring it with keratin, while offering up to 60%- 90% curl reduction, depending on formula used.

What does heat activated mean?

Heat activated means that once you apply heat to the hair using a blow dryer, the treatment will activate and instantly begin to smooth the hair for a frizzfree, straight look.

Lasio Keratin Treatments help to rebuild hair by penetrating the hair through the outer layer into the inner. The hair is blow-dried to infuse the keratin and then flat ironed to seal the cuticle of the hair.

THE LASIO KERATIN DIFFERENCE

Water Based

Lasio Keratin Treatments are water based as opposed to silicone based. Our water based treatments allow for keratin molecules to penetrate through the hair cuticle for a deep conditioning smoothing treatment. Silicone based treatments tend to be heavier as they coat the surface of the hair with little to no penetration through the cuticles of the hair.

Spray-on

Pour into a spray bottle and spray. Our treatments are applied with a spray bottle, allowing for a quick and easy application. Silicone based treatments require a bowl and brush for application.

Quick and Easy

Enjoy a mess free and fumefree 90-minute application. Lasio treatments can be accomplished in 90 minutes depending on the density and length of your client’s hair.

Zero Processing and Same Day Wash

There’s no wait time in the salon or after. During the application process there is no need to let the product breathe or to leave it on the hair for any period of time. Simply move from one step to the next. Clients also have the option to wash their hair the same day, that evening, or within 24 hours. It’s their preference.

Lightweight Finish

Our water based formulas allow for a lightweight finish instead of a heavy coating on the hair. This leaves no residue on the hair for a finished look that feels like a really great blow out.

We Give Options

4 formulas to meet the lifestyle of your clients and color can be done the same day. For color and keratin in the same day, apply the color and then the keratin. For color after receiving a keratin treatment, wait two weeks after the treatment.

LASIO KERATIN FORMULAS

Now let’s talk about Lasio Keratin Formulas.

Because all we do is study keratin, we discovered ways to reduce our formaldehyde levels by combining different conditioning agents with the keratin treatments, the distinguishing factor between each of our treatments. Each conditioning agent will be detailed for you on the following pages.

By pairing the keratin with different conditioning agents we’re able to manipulate the hair, without breaking the disulfide bonds, to offer an array of options to cater to the individual needs of your clients.

Let’s explore this a bit further by looking at each of the keratin formulas.

ONE DAY FORMULA

Conditioning Agent: Amber Extract

Formaldehyde: 0.02%

Curl Reduction: Up to 90% of curls

Frizz Reduction: 100%

Longevity: 4 months

Lasio One Day Formula is our universal formula. This formula contains 0.02% formaldehyde, lasts up to 4 months, reduces up to 90% of curl, and eliminates 100% of frizz.

Amber Extract: A lightweight conditioner. The primary characteristics in amber are terpenes and succinic acid. Amber extract contains antioxidant and conditioning properties that promote stronger strands and hair rejuvenation.

Notes:

The One Day is an extremely lightweight formula that works well on any client seeking curl reduction, elimination of frizz, hair repair, and moisture.

KERATIN TROPIC

Conditioning Agent: Coconut Oil

Formaldehyde: 0.00%

Curl Reduction: Up to 60% of curls

Frizz Reduction: 100%

Longevity: 3 months

Lasio Keratin Tropic is formaldehyde free. It lasts up to 3 months, reduces up to 60% of curls, eliminates 100% of frizz, and contains a cosmetic preservative, euxyl k702 that allows it to last without the use of formaldehyde.

Keratin Tropic is a great treatment to recommend to clients that stray away from products that contain formaldehyde. Clients that are apprehensive about losing their curl

are great candidates for the Keratin Tropic treatment as it eliminates 100% of the frizz while keeping body and enhancing curl. Keratin Tropic is also great for women with fine hair.

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil has been used as hair oil for thousands of years, and it has shown remarkable results. Coconut oil keeps the hair strong, nourished, and protected. The use of coconut oil also helps to reduce protein loss in hair.

Lasio Color Pro is our UV Protectant, color treated formula. This formula contains 0.02% formaldehyde, lasts up to 4 months, reduces up to 90% of curl, and eliminates 100% of frizz. Color Pro contains a unique FLEXSHIELD technology that forms a breathable barrier over the hair strand, allowing nutrients to penetrate the hair shaft while blocking harmful UV rays and sealing color molecules into the hair shaft.

Color Pro is gentle, and great for high lift blonds with damaged hair requiring delicate attention due to over processing. It’s great for fast fading redheads, creative colors, and it’s highly recommended in color repigmentation cases to keep darker colors vibrant longer.

FLEXSHIELD TECHNOLOGY: Uses borage oil and a Vitaplex to protect high lift blondes and redheads against premature fading and sun damage from UV rays. The FLEXSHIELD uses revolutionary polymers that surround the hair strand, allowing unsurpassed color protection that keeps color molecules in. These polymers are also breathable enough to continue allowing essential nutrients into the hair while still protecting it from damage and fading!

Lasio Mocha Silk Treatment is our MOISTURIZING formula! This formula contains 0.02% formaldehyde, lasts up to 4 months, reduces up to 90% of curl, and eliminates 100% of frizz. It also contains cacao oil, which drenches dry strands in moisture.

EFFECTIVE at smoothing resistant hair. This treatment is great to suggest to clients with extremely dry or damaged hair, to clients with thick, coarse or very curly hair looking to achieve a straighter look.

Cacao Oil: containing natural antioxidants, it’s smooth texture, enticing aroma, and emollient properties strengthen and smooth hair. Cacao oil is used to retain moisture and protect hair that is dry or over- processed against environmental stress and fading.

Notes:

Mocha Silk is great to recommend to clients with naturally coarse, resistant hair. While Mocha Silk isn’t stronger in terms of formaldehyde content, it is

CATERING TO YOUR CLIENT’S HAIR

Just as you would suggest a color treated shampoo to your color client, or a volumizing shampoo to a client with fine hair who wants more volume, you are given the option with Lasio to suggest a keratin treatment that suits the needs of each individual client. The important thing is managing your client’s expectations.

Let’s look at examples of what type of client each treatment may best serve, however it’s up to your professional opinion to recommend the treatment best suited for your client. Remember, while Lasio Keratin Treatments DO remove UP TO 90% of hair’s curl depending on the treatment used, these are not straightening treatments. For best results, inform your clients that our treatments are heat activated treatments.

Also, take note that 90% is not the same for everyone. You are provided a percentage to give you a more accurate view of the end results. 90% will not produce the same results for a client with tight curls as it would for someone with big waves.

What is Cocktailing?

In the hair world, cocktailing generally stands for mixing two or more styling products together to create a unique and individual mix for each client.

With Lasio Keratin Treatments, stylists have the ability to combine two or more treatments on one client to create an individualized service tailored to their specific hair needs! Keratin Cocktails are performed by applying different keratin formulas to different sections of the hair. DO NOT MIX TWO FORMULAS IN ONE BOTTLE.

CONSULTATION IS KEY

The consultation is one of the most important steps in performing a Lasio Keratin Treatment. The consultation is essential to meeting and managing your client’s expectations. It’s your time to understand your client’s needs before deciding what treatment or cocktail will best suit them.

A thorough consultation helps to ensure that your client receives the best possible care that you can give them. Remember, perception is everything. One person’s inch may be another person’s mile. It’s important to understand exactly what your client expects to get out of their treatment.

Consultation: Key Points

Knowing your Lasio Keratin treatments allows you to formulate a treatment for each client based on their individual needs.

The 24 Hour Rule

There is no proven benefit to leaving ANY LASIO Keratin Treatment on longer than 24 hours. Treatments left on for longer than the recommended time can result in over keratinization of the hair, or protein overdose, resulting in dry brittle hair.

Lifestyle

Understanding your client’s lifestyle helps you suggest ways to elongate their treatments, such as avoiding things like salt from sweat, pools, or the ocean.

Sodium Chloride: aka salt

Because Lasio is a water based Keratin Treatment, we require a different aftercare line than most other silicone based treatment brands. Silicone based treatments require a sulfate free formula, but LASIO’s water based treatments require a sodium chloride free formula to maintain treatments at home. Lasio HYPERSILK aftercare line is sodium chloride free and each product is infused with hydrolyzed keratin, which reinforces Lasio Keratin Treatments with every use.

Clarifying Shampoo

LASIO Clarifying Shampoo is essential to every LASIO Keratin application process. Our Clarifying Shampoo has a low ph of 5, so it gently opens up the cuticle of the hair to allow the keratin treatment to absorb completely into the hair shaft. To clarify, wash your client’s hair at least two times, making sure not to scrub the scalp, which can cause irritation during the treatment process.

For hair with a low porosity level, give the hair an extra wash and let sit for 5 minutes. An example of this is virgin hair or fine to medium textured hair that has minimal processing.

Our Clarifying Shampoo is infused with hydrolyzed keratin and Cocamide Oil. Cocamide Oil coats the scalp to protect it from irritation during the treatment process.

Our gentle Clarifying Shampoo removes buildup, leaving hair clean and soft in preparation for the keratin treatment.

AFTERCARE

HYPERSILK retail products is the aftercare line that was specially formulated to work alongside our keratin treatments.

Keratin treatments are a big investment, and product knowledge is important. If Lasio Keratin Treatments are not cared for properly at home, clients will see their treatments fading faster

or will return with complaints of the product not working properly around a month after the initial application. This is what we call a REDO.

It is important to inform your clients about the use of sodium chloride free products as well as protecting their treatment from salt and sweat based on their lifestyle. This is an important part of the consultation with your client.

To ensure your client gets the most out of their keratin treatment it is important to educate them and recommend that they insure their treatment with our HYPERSILK line.

HYPERSILK is infused with the same keratin used in our keratin treatments. That means that every time your client uses our HYPERSILK line, they are reinforcing the keratin in their hair, allowing their treatment to last longer!

SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONERS

HYPERSILK Replenishing Shampoo & Conditioner

HYPERSILK Replenishing Shampoo & Conditioner are sodium chloride free and infused with hydrolyzed keratin. They are color safe and have a low ph balance of 6, so they are gentle on hair to insure the life of your client’s Lasio Keratin Treatment. They are also enriched with cocamide oil, and they drench hair in moisture to add shine to all hair types.

HYPERSILK Color Treated Shampoo & Conditioner

HYPERSILK Color Treated Shampoo & Conditioner nourish hair with a blend of amino acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. They contain a UV protecting formula to keep color lasting longer, and they are infused with hydrolyzed keratin so they reinforce your client’s Lasio Keratin Treatment with every use. They also promote hair growth and provide added shine, so they are great to recommend to your avid color clients!

REVITALIZING HAIR MASQUE

Think of the Revitalizing Masque as HYPERINSURANCE. It does so much more then offer a deep conditioning treatment to dry or damaged hair, but let’s talk about that first.

Our HYPERSILK Revitalizing Masque protects hair from sodium (in all forms…salt, sweat, etc).

This masque is an important part of your client’s weekly regimen. Enriched with cocamide oil and keratin, this heavy duty reparative treatment infuses hair with moisture and nutrients.

For gym‐goers it’s recommended that they apply the masque to their scalp to protect the first inch or two of hair at the root, which is most susceptible to sweat during their workout.

Now, let’s talk about how it insures your client’s keratin treatment. We spoke earlier about managing your client’s expectations and providing a thorough consultation. Understanding your client’s lifestyle is important so that you as their stylist

For swimmers and client’s going to the beach, it’s recommended to apply the masque on damp hair to protect the treatment from salt and chlorine.

KERATIN TROUBLE SHOOTING

No one enjoys when a client says, “The treatment didn’t work,” but unfortunately it does happen. In this section, we will help you help your clients and also review ways how to prevent this from happening.

There are two types of calls you may receive. One that comes within seven days of the service stating that the treatment did not work or one that comes about a month or two after the service saying that the treatment did not last.

Let’s look at the first type of call, this one we will call the “Redo Call,” which usually happens after the client has washed and styled her hair on her own for the first time. A redo is when the stylist has to re-perform the keratin service either on the entire head or a portion of the head.

Handling a Redo Call

1.Schedule client for an evaluation appointment

2.Provide a complimentary wash and power dry 100% dry

3.Look for FRIZZ not curl

4.If frizz is present, the stylist can perform a service as they see fit, whether it is a full head redo or a partial head redo

If no frizz is present, explain to the client that Lasio Keratin Treatments are heat activated smoothing treatments. Remind clients that heat should be applied, and some styling effort is required to achieve a smooth look. Provide some easy tips.

Clients sometimes tend to confuse seeing a curl pattern with frizz; this is why consultations are essential. Consultations help to manage your client’s expectations. Be sure to perform thorough consultations before each Lasio Keratin Treatment.

Let’s look at some reasons why a redo may occur.

Uneven Saturation: If the treatment is unevenly applied, the treatment will be ineffective in the areas of the hair where it lacked saturation. To prevent this from happening, during the prep blow dry, be sure the hair is 100% dry. Moisture left in the hair may block

the keratin from thoroughly absorbing in the damp areas, compared to the dry areas. Additionally, during the application of the keratin be sure to saturate the hair thoroughly by working in nice clean sections. Uneven saturation can happen when spraying sections that are too large.

Product Evaporation: This seems to happen most during the blow dry performed after the product is applied to the hair. IF FUMES OR A CLOUD OF SMOKE ARE VISIBLE DURING THIS BLOW DRY, IT MEANS YOU ARE EVAPORATING THE PRODUCT FROM THE HAIR. This WILL cause uneven distribution of product, resulting in a redo. To prevent, blow dry hair on medium heat only and do not use a round brush (they remove the product from the hair).

The Experienced Keratin User: “I’ve been doing this for years!” Sometimes, our veteran keratin users forget the rules of a keratin treatment. If your clients decide not to wash their hair in the salon after receiving the Lasio keratin treatment, they must follow the rules.

Remind your clients not to pin their hair, no ponytails, no tucking hair behind the ears, not to sweat (and if they do be sure to apply heat), and not to wear a hat or anything that might leave a mark in the hair. Go over the keratin rules with your clients after every service, no matter how experienced they are.

Also remind clients that if they decide to wash their hair the next day, upon waking in the morning, it is recommended to apply heat using a flat iron or blow dryer to remove any bumps or bends in the hair.

The Results Didn’t Last

Now let’s talk about the call stating the product did not last. Let’s look at some reasons a keratin treatment may not last and how to properly educate your clients on each of them.

Using the Right Aftercare: With Lasio Keratin Treatments, clients must use an aftercare line that does not contain SODIUM CHLORIDE. Clients and even stylists are accustomed to hearing sulfate free. When we say SODIUM CHLORIDE free, they still hear sulfate free.

So again, they must use SODIUM CHLORIDE free products, from shampoo to conditioner and their styling products. This is why the HYPERSILK aftercare hair products are a must. HYPERSILK products are not only sodium chloride free, but they are infused with the same keratin that is in the Lasio Keratin Treatments. Using HYPERSILK will reinforce their treatment and even help it to last up to a month longer. Explain this to your client

during the consultation and after their service. Clients really shouldn’t leave the salon without HYPERSILK.

Sweat, Swimming, and Well Water: Salt is kryptonite to Lasio Keratin Treatments. Clients who work out often tend to see their keratins fade faster, especially at the roots. Clients who are swimmers or who are getting a keratin service before going on vacation also may notice that their keratins fade more quickly. Also, some clients may live in areas that use well water. Well water has agents in it that strips the keratin and will result in the keratin not lasting as long as it should.

During your consultation, it is important to learn about your client’s lifestyle. Ask them if they work out often, ask them if they are planning any vacations soon, are they swimmers, do they live in an area that uses well water? Learning about your client will help you better advise them on how to care for their keratin investment. For clients who work out, swim, going on vacations, or live near well water they must leave with the HYPERSILK Revitalizing Masque.

The Revitalizing Masque used once per week will help their keratin treatment last longer. Applying the Revitalizing Masque before swimming or before working out will provide a barrier between the hair and the salt. Be sure to educate your clients and manage their expectations, they will appreciate you for it.

Frequent Hair Washing: Some clients have a habit of washing their hair every day. Some feel they have to because they have oily hair and some just can’t break the habit; this is another thing to find out during the consultation. Ask clients how often they wash their hair. Remind clients that we recommend washing hair no more than three times per week. Washing the hair too frequently will result in a shorter lifespan of the keratin treatment. Some clients are okay with that, but be sure you let them know. These clients especially need HYPERSILK. Also, recommend the Lasio Dry Shampoo. It will resist their urge to wash their hair by absorbing excess oils.

Using Lasio Keratin Treatments while Pregnant

The question often arises as to whether Lasio Keratin Treatments can be performed by a pregnant stylist or on a pregnant client. Lasio does not conduct testing on or by pregnant women, so we do not make any recommendations.

Even with our formaldehyde-free keratin treatment, we do not make any recommendations. We do ask stylists to remember that Keratin Treatments are still a chemical service and should be treated as such.

However, for clients who are pregnant or nursing and want to receive a service provide them with a keratin blowout using the HYPERSILK Smoothing Balm, Advanced Serum, and Volumizing Hairspray. It will give them the feeling of having a keratin treatment until they can receive an actual keratin service. You can find a video on how to do this at lasioinc.com.

Using LASIO Keratin Treatments on Minors

Lasio does not test keratin treatments on minors. We do not make the decision for parents. We ask that every salon have parents of minors sign a release form giving permission for the service to be performed. We highly recommend not performing the keratin treatment on kids 12 and under. Again, remember, keratin treatments are still chemical services.
