@Loudig
Over 19,000 DECA members, advisors and corporate partners have gathered in ATL for the pinnacle event of the DECA year, and we could not be more excited to spend the next four days creating new connections, engaging in challenging new adventures and celebrating incredible achievements with each of you. DECA is an integral component of classroom instruction that helps members apply their learning and connect to business. This year, DECA encouraged you to take advantage of the #Limitless opportunities available to you through this organization – and you did just that! You participated in DECA’s Chapter Campaigns, created innovative new products in the DECA Idea Challenge, attended career pathway conferences, earned Gold-Level Certification for your School-based Enterprise, and conquered the competition to make it all the way to the international stage at #DECAICDC.

Congratulations on making it to ICDC and get ready for a #Limitless experience in Atlanta!
While #DECAICDC is the most anticipated event of the year, the next four days you’ll spend in Atlanta will certainly go by faster than you ever expected. Be sure to take advantage of every opportunity DECA offers you this week, such as meeting incredible corporate partners, colleges and universities, and vendors in our exhibit hall, and sharing your experiences on social media using #DECAICDC. Also, don’t forget to experience the #Limitless attractions this city offers too, like the Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, the CNN Center and Six Flags Over Georgia, just to name a few. Remember, just because you’ve made it to #DECAICDC doesn’t mean you’ve reached the end of your journey. Every new connection you make and challenge you conquer here in Atlanta will bring you one step closer to achieving your dreams.
GREETINGS FROM YOUR EXECUTIVE OFFICERS You’ve officially made it to DECA’s International Career Development Conference in beautiful Atlanta, Georgia! Over the next four days, we will find out what it truly means to be #Limitless and have an experience of a lifetime.

CONFERENCE PROFESSIONALISM DRESS CODE
CODE OF CONDUCT
Professional appearance is an important aspect of the overall preparation of DECA members for the business world. To that end, DECA supports a dress code for its career-based functions that exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism while being non-discriminatory between males and females.
The Board of Directors for DECA Inc. requires each delegate attending the International Career Development Conference to read and complete the ATTENDANCE PERMISSION FORM and return to the CHARTERED ASSOCIATION DECA advisor as partial completion of attendance requirements.
DECA’s board of directors has developed the following official dress standards for the International Career Development Conference. Students, advisors and chaperones must follow the dress code.
1.
The term “delegate” shall mean any DECA member, including advisors, attending conferences (high school, collegiate, alumni, professional).
2.
There shall be no defacing of public property. Any damage to any property or furnishing in the hotel rooms or building must be paid for by the individual or chapter responsible.
3.
Delegates must wear identification badges at all times.
4.
Delegates shall refrain from using inappropriate or profane language at all times.
For a more polished, professional appearance, it is recommended that attendees wear appropriate hosiery/socks.
5.
Delegates shall refrain from written, verbal, physical or electronic activities that may lead to harassment, hazing, bullying or damaging property.
AN OFFICIAL DECA BLAZER IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE RECOGNITION OR AN AWARD ON STAGE.
6.
The use of any harassment against anyone on the basis of race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry, age, gender, sexual orientation or disability is prohibited.
WHEN APPEARING BEFORE JUDGES
Competitors must wear an official DECA blazer during interaction with the judges. While official DECA blazers are not required during briefing and testing, professional business dress is required. Professional dress should also be worn to all conference sessions including workshops and special meal functions such as luncheons.
7.
Delegates shall respect the rights and safety of other hotel guests.

10.
Use of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes by delegates is prohibited at all DECA functions.
11.
Delegates must adhere to the dress code at all times.
12.
Delegates must not dress or behave in a manner than can be interpreted as sexually explicit.
13.
Students shall keep their adult advisors informed of their activities and whereabouts at all times.
14.
No delegate shall leave the hotel (except for authorized events) unless permission has been received from chapter and chartered association advisors.
15.
Delegates should be prompt and prepared for all activities.
16.
Delegates should be financially prepared for all activities.
17.
Delegates are required to attend all sessions and activities assigned including workshops, competitive events, committee meetings, etc., for which they are registered unless engaged in some specific assignment scheduled at the same time.
18.
Delegates will spend nights at their assigned hotel and in their assigned room. No guests allowed during curfew hours. Delegates will be quiet at curfew.

AT THE HOTEL Be alert when checking in. Protect your cash and valuables by keeping them with you. Never say your room number loudly enough for others to overhear or give it out to anyone you do not know. Be sure to lock your door when you are in your room as well as when you leave. Call the front desk to verify any unexpected deliveries or room service. Do not leave your door open while you are in the room. Always tell your advisor where you are going. Do not leave your room after curfew.
GENERAL TRAVEL TIPS
Never leave money or valuables in your room; use the hotel’s safety deposit box. If you see any suspicious person or activity, notify hotel management. Ask the hotel for the most direct route to restaurants and shopping. Don’t wander through shortcuts. Don’t go out alone; travel with at least one other person. There is safety in numbers.
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
DECA Inc. is committed to creating and maintaining a healthy and respectful environment for all of our emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. Our philosophy is to ensure all members, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic status, are treated equally and respectfully. HONORARY LIFE AWARD
Honorary Life Membership is the highest award DECA can bestow on an individual. DECA is pleased to present a new member of this distinctive and deserving fellowship.
JIM BROCK | ARKANSAS Jim Brock has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to DECA, contributing 20 years of service to the organization at the international level. His affiliation with the organization began in 1997 as a business marketing teacher and DECA chapter advisor. Jim served in this capacity for five years, inspiring many students and leading several to serve as DECA officers and international competitors. Following his role as a chapter advisor, Jim became the chartered association advisor for Arkansas DECA for the next 14 years. In this role, he coordinated both association and district conferences as well as volunteered at the International Career Development Conference. Under his leadership, Arkansas DECA saw a substantial increase in the quality of its marketing curriculum, the enthusiasm of DECA educators and the success of DECA chapters. His determination and dedication to the organization significantly increased the relevance and stature of DECA in Arkansas. While serving as Arkansas DECA’s chartered association advisor, Jim also took on numerous significant roles with DECA Inc. Jim served two terms as the President of DECA Inc.’s Board of Directors, board liaison on the Secondary Council, member of DECA’s Competitive Events Task Force and board representative to the National Advisory Board. Throughout his service, Jim demonstrated an open-minded, professional leadership style and was always committed to the well-being of DECA Inc. and its stakeholders. Presently, Jim Brock serves as the director of the newly formed Arkansas CTSO Student Leadership Center where he manages the finances and conference activities for several career and student technical organizations (CTSOs). In this new role, he continues to selflessly advocate for DECA at yet another level.
