Walk and Roll to School
March 8 Decatur Active Living • Children & Youth Services
Walk and Bike Your Way to a Healthy 2017 Decatur Active Living and the City of Decatur offer many opportunities for you to stay healthy and fit in the coming year. In addition to our year-round schedule of athletics for all ages, we offer opportunities to walk and bike. 50+ Walks set out from Decatur Recreation Center every Wednesday at 10 a.m., and cover three miles around the city. Third Sunday Strolls and Fourth Thursday “Bright at Night” Walks offer walking tours of the city led by members of the Pedestrian Advisory Committee as well as occasional special guests. Third Friday Bike Rides occur from March through October. Join Decatur staff for a six-mile ride through the city. Starts at 6:30 p.m. at Decatur Recreation Center. NEW! Silver Spokes classes are held on Thursday mornings for those who have never biked or have not biked in many years. Participants ride adult tricycles to regain their biking skills. Bike Rodeos will be held four times during 2017 in various parts of the city to teach bike safety skills to children in the community. Walk with a Doc around the city and enjoy a casual question-and-answer session with a medical pro.
