Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Union County Alumnae Chapter

Spring 2021 It is with great honor that I greet you on behalf of the Union County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. During this our seventh annual debutante cotillion ball, we will proudly present six young women who indeed exhibit “Exquisite Style & Beauty”. These young women have worked diligently for several months with our dedicated cotillion committee to bring you this wonderful presentation. You are in for a spectacular treat as we present to you our debutante’s: “Exquisite Style & Beauty.” Today’s presentation marks the end of our 2020-2021 season. This season has had many challenges with the coronavirus pandemic, but our dynamic debutantes showed great fortitude as they persevered despite the challenges. They fully engaged in our virtual cotillion activities and chose to embrace the opportunity it presented. Over the course of the debutante season, the young women continued to cultivate their interest in education, community service and social action. We hope that they have enjoyed and learned from events like the Etiquette and Branding, Exercising Your Right to Vote, Civic Engagement and Community Service, and the Career Exploration and College Preparation sessions, as well as the Mother/ Daughter Virtual Tea, Father/Daughter Event, and the Valentine’s Day Service Project. Most importantly, the young women have formed lasting relationships with each other and with many others they have met during the cotillion season. Thank you so much to the families for allowing us the opportunity and pleasure to get to know, learn from, and hopefully help to shape and pour into your most precious daughters. On behalf of the cotillion committee and our chapter, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the mothers, marshals, family and friends who have supported the debutantes throughout their cotillion season. Your sacrifice of time, resources, participation, and moral support throughout this process is what has made this time so special and ensured a successful event. Participation on the cotillion committee continues to be one of the most rewarding activities for me as a member of Union County Alumnae Chapter. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs under our Five Point Programmatic Thrust in local communities and throughout the world. Through the generous support of our sponsors and patrons, we are able to provide monetary awards to the debutantes as well as fund our service initiatives and programs that we provide to the Union County community. We encourage you to support our sponsors who are the business and organizations displayed in our souvenir book, our virtual presentation and on our website who have so generously supported our debutantes. Last, but not least, the cotillion would not be a success without the tireless effort of our cotillion committee. Our chairperson, Dr. Wendy Gravely, and her team of co-leads Pamela Grant-Buie, Cassandra Tindell, and Alisa Jones have lead this committee with excellence. Thank you to each and every member who has contributed to the success of this glorious event. Please enjoy this spectacular evening. Yours In Service, Dr. Mary Lindsay- Barber Union County Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. President, 2019-2021

April 10, 2021 Debutantes, It has been our pleasure to serve as the co-chairs for this year’s annual cotillion. With the challenge of an all-virtual season, these 7 months have been unusual yet extremely rewarding because of you, your families, and your supporters. We hope you will use the lessons you have learned on etiquette, college preparation and preparedness, career awareness, community service, civil justice, and social activism to make wise choices, informed decisions, and better experiences. The game day event we participated in with fathers and daughters was so exciting. It was great to see everyone’s competitive side! In addition, observing as you sincerely shared your love and appreciation to your moms at the mother-daughter tea was very touching. You have embodied your cotillion theme, “Exquisite Style & Beauty” by demonstrating poise while also showing compassion and kindness to one another and those you have encountered this cotillion season. We, along with entire cotillion committee, sincerely thank you and your families for your commitment to this program. We are grateful for the precious gift of witnessing you realize your essence as young ladies of exquisite style and beauty. Best Wishes, Ms. Alisa, Ms. Cassandra , Ms. Wendy, & Ms. Pamela, Cotillion Committee Leads

“Live a life you are proud of and be passionate at all times.”
