When over 15 years ago our company was being established, we were characterized with enormous passion and belief that our target of conquering international markets will one day become reality. Today, we can easily boast of turning the visionary plans of the shipyard into reality. Thanks to the continuous hard work and persistence with improvements, our brand became recognized outside of Poland, and most importantly – it is becoming increasingly popular from year to year. We managed to convince demanding foreign clients, most of all because our priority is the highest quality and distinctive features, fascination with technical novelties and innovative solutions. Galeon cannot stand still – this year’s premieres: 640 FLY, 325 and 530 HT, not only confirm the elaborate market standing of the Galeon company, but also positively surprise new clients for whom purchasing our boats was the first investment of this kind. Participation in the most important international fairs is the main proof of continuous development of the firm. We held a debut in Dubai, thus exploring new areas for expansion. This year, for the first time, we shall participate in fairs in Cannes and the Republic of South Africa by presenting the 530 Fly model in Cape Town. Next year we will start in an extremely dynamic way with the most important fair halls for us in Düsseldorf, where we shall present the results of our year-long efforts.

It features an President Of Galeon Shipyard exclusive interview with the famous boat designer and co-author of Galeon’s success – Tony Castro. His adventure with design has been going on for 26 years and even so, building yet another boat is always a challenge for him. For relaxation we also invite you to Majorca – an island, which lures you with a pleasant climate and captivates you with breathtaking views. The 53-feet hull, tested and tried on the most difficult basins, has been used as the basis for a completely new vessel. Closure of the cockpit with a sliding tempered glass pane, modified design and a minor alteration of the living room arrangement have brought brilliant effects. As a result, the shipyard has two Galeons on offer, each with a unique and autonomous character. Flybridge version is an offer addressed to the traditionalist who appreciates refined materials in the finishing. The yacht’s interior is made of leather, mahogany, alcantara, silk and stainless steel. The whole gives the impression of refined and discrete luxury. The living room is a space divided into two areas, with a kitchen and leisure area and a central helmsman’s station. The lower deck has three sleeping cabins. The biggest one – the shipowner’s cabin with an independent full-size bathroom, a bow guest cabin and an additional double cabin. There is a second bathroom which can be accessed from the hall and the bow cabin. A similar solution has been applied to the younger vessel. The living room has undergone the greatest changes. It will certainly delight lovers of sterile, minimalist and spacious interiors. The manufacturer does not follow in its competitors’ steps and offers the customer a full-size sliding roof

making the yacht even more spacious than before. The dominant material is a fabric from the latest designer collection which is becoming more and more popular as a wood substitute. Both vessels will be equipped with double shaft motors. With the total power of 1550 HP, the yacht may attain the speed of 32 knots. The hull, having passed numerous tests, raises reasonable hopes for unique emotions and impressions from cruising the most demanding waters.

Passion In the 1970’s you studied naval architecture in England, but how did your fascination with yachts really begin? I was born in Lisbon, by the sea, in Portugal, a country well connected with all nautical things. My father owned a little 10 meter boat and I went to a sailing school when I was seven and started sailing immediately. I was crazy about sailing, I used to go out sailing every week-end and was very interested in boats all the time. I started racing at the age of 8 and won my first “senior” National Championship at 12! I joined a 3 man keel boat when one of the crew fell ill and could not make it. After that I was Junior Champion a few more times in Snipe and 420’s . Once I moved to England I had many years of racing both in the UK and many countries abroad on all sort of boats to Admiral’s Cup yachts, which my boat won in 1989 as part of the British Team. I still race of course, mainly Dragons.

Work Your design team consists of professionals with a variety of experience: naval architects, industrial designers, engineers and graphic experts. Can you describe the main work stages of creating boats? All Designs start by doing some old-fashioned sketching and hand drawings, together with a Profile and a General Arrangement usually done in 2D CAD. This is discussed with the Client to see his reaction and change to suit. We always start with a clean sheet of paper all the time, to basically design everything about the boat by hand, not just the naval architecture, but also the exterior and the interior styling. There are very few people in the world who can actually do all three and we are getting stronger and stronger in that. I really believe we are able to do a complete design in house as I think it is better than having different people working in different areas.

Your company was established in 1982. How did the progress in technology influence your everyday work? Enormously. When I first started we had only a pencil, paper and a hand held calculator, one of the first ever HP programmable ones! Within a couple of years we started buying some computers. Then came the Apple II days. Amazing what we could do in those days with 64K memory… Now we spend a fair proportion of our income on the fastest and biggest PCs money can buy and soon we will change to 64 Bit. Where will all this end I have no idea! Your company produces luxury boats also for high profile clients. Could you reveal any secrets of the most splendid commissions? I am privileged to have worked for a few of these people and it is exciting to be in their presence. Very often they are dynamic and interesting people. I have done a beautiful 65 m 3 mast Barque for the Jubilee Sailing Trust that helps handicapped people do sailing. A fantastic project. Also, several boats for well know TV series like Howards’ Way some years ago, etc. I have also done some military boats and dealing with those people is also different and interesting. Ballistics, Radar signature are all fascinating subjects. Seamen’s superstitions are well known. What kind of superstitions are connected with launching boats? Of course many people refer to making sure you break that champagne bottle when you christen the ship and don’t paint it green! But to tell you the truth I’m not very superstitious.

Galeon How did your cooperation with Galeon start? What kind of experiences do you have with it? My first contact with Galeon was via the UK distributor three years ago. I met Galeon’s owners at a Boat Show and after a brief discussion we quickly knew that we could work together. What I could not have predicted was how fantastic the “chemistry” between their Team was. They have a quite unique positive attitude. I have no hesitation to say that Galeon is different and amongst the Clients I like to work with the most. You have already designed three boats for Galeon and next ones are being worked on. What kinds of improvements and innovations have been adopted in the Galeon 640 in comparison to 390, 440 and 530 models? The exterior styling the 640 is one step ahead of the 530 in terms of aggressive design, more “edge design” if you like. The big difference pertains to the Interior where we have developed a new look for all Flybridge models. It is more modern but still maintains the Galeon quality and robust joinery. Everything is still finished with top quality veneers and solid wood and plenty of it where it is needed. As a designer at Galeon I am not very often discussing the cost of making this or that. I am much more often just trying to design the best possible solution regardless of the cost. Of course the boats have to represent best value-for-money but Galeon’s main aim is to be the best in the Class.

Design Tony Castro LTD is responsible for many successful designs. Which is your favorite? That’s a very difficult question to answer in my case. I have not spent my life dedicated to a particular type of design but I have to admit I am still very competitive, designing racing boats. Those are certainly memorable and often very sophisticated. What inspires me, is to develop unique Designs, Sail or Power to satisfy the demands of my Clients. I am not so interested in selling a particular Design based on my ideas, more to listen and then design something that fits the particular requirements. That is why when you look at my portfolio you see so many different types of Designs. How does safety influence design? Safety is very important as we want our Clients to enjoy their boats and not suffer any anxiety when using them. There are many rules you have to follow nowadays to make sure the safety aspects are taken care of.

I have not spent my life dedicated to a particular type of design. What inspires me, is to develop unique Designs, Sail or Power

Could you describe any new trends in boat’s design? What inspires you? There are many facets to this future. On the sail boat side, we had quite a few bad years, where there had not been a good international racing rule, so the good old days of the One Ton Cup and the Sardinia Cup have disappeared and slowly everything is coming back after ten years. All things are coming back, the America’s cup is held in Europe and can excite Europeans with sail boats. Powerboat racing has not changed much over the years. There has been a big expansion in the production of powerboats, like GALEON, I guess owning a motorboat is like having a second car that you use during the weekend. There is a lot of pressure to make boats easier to use and more and more reliable, sometimes faster, sometimes with more space, more luxury, more comfort. Generally, everything is getting better I think, in different directions, not to mention the big Motoryachts and big sailing boats getting bigger and bigger: we are now making preliminary drawings of a 165-meter boat! That is incredible when you think that when I designed my first 30-meter boat in 1994 we thought she was like the “mega of the megas”. There has been so much increase in wealth in the last ten years and it is in the hands of younger people. They want fun and adventure – for the designers it is fantastic, because it gives more opportunities to express their ideas, to be creative, and to be more wild. It is a designers’ paradise. Designers cannot complain. There is so much variety and opportunity.

How do you balance the architect’s and the designer’s vision with the client’s requirements? There are a couple of things I always say to the people, making us possibly a little bit different from the majority of my competitors. The first is that we have tried very hard over the years not to have a specific style of our own. In other words, I am not really interested in having a “Tony Castro style” that is recognized by everybody and I am definitely not interested in designing the same look everyday of my working life. We have set our business here to be very flexible. We are more interested in finding out what the client wants and then designing something for him. What we do for Galeon we don’t do for other Clients. We are always using our skills, but not as if I had a kind of style or vision that I repeat like some designers do: maybe from a financial-commercial point of view it makes much more sense to specialize in something and make it all day long, but I would get bored. I don’t like to do that. Eventually, both our Client and ourselves have streamlined our ideas and soon a common goal emerges that inspires the Design solutions.

Challenge We heard that you are a workaholic. What do you do with your spare time? I don’t have much spare time as such but outside Yachting I like to fly helicopters and drive fast cars! I have a Hughes 500 which I immensely enjoy and I use to commute to my Clients, etc. You have extensive professional experience. After 26 years of work what does “challenge” mean for you? Every day is a new challenge. The new boats we are designing for Galeon are stretching us every time, as we push ourselves forwards. That is exciting… Every so often we do get a difficult project where new solutions need to be found and it’s always a challenge to get it right.

The latest yacht from the shipyard in Straszyn combines experience of the brand with world-class innovative solutions. The 640 has been created to meet the expectations of even the most demanding clients. Its modern design with a sharp, futurist shape perfectly fits the market trend relating to premieres of luxury cars. With a length of almost twenty meters (19.96 m) and width of 5.25 m it reaches a maximum immersion at the depth of 1.06 m. The well-shaped boat attracts attention, but one can only appreciate all of its advantages while behind the helm. This yacht has been serially equipped with two MAN engines with a power of 1,100 HP.

Thanks to them, the yacht can achieve a speed of 32 knots, while with stronger engines – even over 34 knots. Its size, as well as power of the yacht enables longer cruises. Perfect spatial planning and luxury interiors ensure comfort for all participants of any journey, even the farthest ones. The interior consists of a perfectly fitted kitchen segment combined with a large sitting room and helmsman stand. Five crew cabins have been located under the deck. Shelter from hot sun and wind is provided by a large captain’s cabin. It has a particularly profiled couch and huge silk bed,

from which it is possible to admire the Orion and Cassiopeia constellations on a glass panel with illuminated spots on the ceiling. The main cabin is adjacent to a functionally designed bathroom, one of the three bathrooms available on the yacht. The final cut is provided by precise finishing. Light colours combined with a large number of mirrors, marble and mosaics in shower cabins ensure a warm, home-like climate. elegance. The designers of the Galeon 640 also ensured that the yacht has an individual character. In the center, between the captain’s cabin and the bow bedroom, a sculpture by famous Gdańsk artist Stanisław Szwechowicz has been placed. A beautiful model of a sailing yacht, resembling the organic masterpiece of French master Henry Moore, is from resin. A stone archetype of the sculpture can be seen in front of the main seat of the firm in Straszyn. This is a distinctive mark of Galeon and above all a good augury before a successful cruise.

The first phase in a yacht’s creation begins in the design-engineering office, where the visions of the lead designer is developed and perfected into the plans needed in the shipyard. Individual elements are drafted; the length of the hull, the size of the bulkhead and the thickness of the planks are calculated and durability tests are carried out. But each element of the yacht is designed and created in the shipyard itself to maintain coherence in the construction and style and to meet individual orders.

Developing a yacht for mass production takes many months, sometimes even years

Preparing a yacht for mass production takes many months, or in some cases even years. Most of the efforts are consumed on building a prototype. The model-shop, the heart of the shipyard, starts the process by making a model of a yacht called a hoof , which is used to make the mould. In the laminates hall a Yacht’s hulls are made of synthetic resins, hardened with a matting of polyester-glass structure. A grate frame stiffens the whole construction. The layer by layer manual lamination is labour intensive but is gradually being replaced by a mechanical system (infusion) using the vacuum method. It accelerates the production process, improves durability parameters and reduces the weight of the vessel. Cast moulds are processed in the machine cutting shop, where redundant elements are cut off from the mould and skylights, hatches and entrances are cut. The deck is also grinded with precision. 24

In the assembly room the yacht acquires its real shape and multiple teams carry out all the necessary works. The deck goes on the hull and the flybridge is attached. But before the deck is attached, teams of hydraulic experts, electricians and mechanics must arm the hull with containers for water and fuel, carry out cable installation, as well as install navigation appliances and engines. Boat builders assemble furniture, install stainless steel elements and fit electric windows and hard tops.

When a yacht is ready, preliminary tests are carried out in the testing basin. A water container with a capacity of 360 tones is filled in the shipyard. For a few dozen hours the yacht sits in natural conditions while tests are carried out on the engines, overloads, water tightness of the hull and individual appliances, and exposure to rain. The last defects are removed. The basin is also used for testing prototypes. Launching the yacht on water is the moment of truth. During the first cruise a boat goes through the ultimate tests. Galeon boats come with a two-year warranty. Until recently, the launching only took place in a marina in Gdańsk, but soon it will also begin at a private marina in Wiślinka. After two or three years, models undergo the socalled “lifting”, which involves refreshing the interior and stylistics, making necessary correction and small repairs.

Small hidden creeks, picturesque mountain slopes, olive and almond groves, castles on hills hanging over water as if devoid of gravitational pull. And wonderful, stable weather for sailing. Majorca, located on the Mediterranean Sea, 130 nautical miles from the Spanish coast is the largest of the five Balearic Islands archipelago: Formentera, Cabrera, Ibiza and Minorca. By boat you can discover what is inaccessible from land, find quite seclusions scenery that remains beyond the reach of hikers. Moreover, sailing is one of the most popular sports in Majorca. The island is famous for its boat racing events. The prestigious Olympic class races such as Princess Sofia Trophy, Copa del Rey, Hublot Palma Vela, or Four Strip Challenge, that is the race around Majorca – are only a few of fascinating sailing events. However, if you miss the urban ambience, you can head toward one of the numerous ports on the island, stop there and discover historic towns usually located only a few kilometers from the coast. Most sea journeys begin or end in Majorca’s capital city Palma (Palma de Mallorca). The view of the city

Porto de Andratx welcomes visitors with its promenade, the ideal place for shopping

from the port is breathtaking: while sitting on the deck, you can admire the monumental gothic cathedral (La Seo) over the marina, one of the largest in Spain. Majorca owes this unique view to James I of Aragon who conquered the islands from the Arab people in 1229 and founded the church. The interior of the cathedral, redesigned around the year of 1900 by visionary Antonio Gaudy, attracts with its extraordinary atmosphere, especially when the church is illuminated up by sun light coming through huge gothic rosettes. But the church is not everything that Palma has to offer. A walk in the maze of narrow and winding streets of the Old Town (Ciutat Vella) gives us a taste of the unstable history of the town and the island. The renaissance residences, baroque and gothic churches enchant with architectural details. If you are in even more spectacular views, just climb across the city, three kilometers from the center, to Castel de Bellver – a medieval castle. The round building from the 14th century has two faces: from the outside you can see as it is, but from the inside it looks like another residence. From the top of the walls of the building you can admire the panorama over the whole gulf. It is also worthwhile spending some time shopping in Palma and don’t miss out on the pearl shops. And later, enjoy of the delightful, warm evening and taste the local cuisine. There is plenty to choose from, as the cultural mosaic has also influenced the food delicacies. Local delicacies include “arroz brut” – rice soup with rabbit meat, beef, sea food, flavored with saffron. 30

Up to the top of the hill with a golf ball Leaving behind the noisy gulf of Badia de Palma and sailing towards the West, we will reach the Western shore of the islands, ranging from the Cap de Cala Figuera cape to the inhabited rock island Sa Dragonera. The national park is located here, while the coast is full of green gulfs which are worth exploring. Porto de Andratx welcomes visitors together with its promenade, where one can go shopping or play golf in one of the most exclusive clubs in Europe. Especially the hole of the grateful name “Green Monster” is famous for its steep elevation, which makes even the most experienced players dizzy. Those who wish for a quieter rest should head towards Porto de Santa Ponsa or the anchorage of Ensenada de Refaubetx. Here, among the rocks, natural bathing areas were formed, from the cockpit you can watch gulls, which have found their perfect spot on the coast, or can swim around or snorkel in a gulf of Cala en Basset, hardly accessible from land, and enjoy the sandy, pleasant bottom of the sea. Since the 16th century a tower on the rock over the Basset gulf guards peace against pirate attacks – one of the systems reinforcing the coast. The South-Western part of Majorca is also a paradise for divers. On two islands, El Toro and Malgrats underwater reserves have been established. The diversity of the underwater fauna and flora as well as underwater rocks will definitely impress even the most choosy divers. Cliffs and Chopin’s romance Urban luxuries and entertainment fade away when you sail

along the North-Western side of the coast of Majorca. The steep cliffs going down straight to the sea, which are part of the Serra de Tramontana mountain range delight with their power and size. It is worth sailing towards the only port in this part of the island – Port de Soller or towards the anchoring Sa Foradada. Port de Soller is a picturesque, wide gulf. Three kilometers above the port, a charming city of Soller is located, famous for its olive and orange groves. It is found in the center of the Tramontana range, the landscape of which is dominated by three peaks: Puig Mayor (1445 m), Massanella (1340 m) and L’Ofre (1080 m). If one has the time, he should go from Soller to Valldemossa – a town lost in the mountains, where in 1839 George Sand and Frederic Chopin met secretly in a Carthusian monastery. There is not much left after the composer, as the local people – in fear of tuberculosis, which Chopin suffered from – burnt most of the equipment. There is a museum in the monastery where a few souvenirs of Chopin are displayed, such as letters or sketches. This small town however, surprises visitors with its richly equipped museum of modern art with drawings and posters of Pablo Picasso, Juan Miro, Francis Bacon and Henry Moor. Where the wind blows in the sails Sailing from Port de Soller towards the South, we are moving away from the tourist turmoil. Cala Tuent, a perfect place to anchor. It is worth bringing out the raft in order to take a close look at small gulfs among the rocks, caves, rock water flows. If you get lucky you could even meet dolphins. Further on to the North is Sa Calobra, which is famous for its natural attraction – the Torrent de Pareis gorge. After passing by the Fermentor peninsula, the natural extension of the Tramontana mountains, one has to slowly say farewell to the naval loneliness. Port de Pollença offers good taverns, attractive anchoring, long sandy beaches and a beautiful outlook onto the city and the coast from the city of Pollença. The gulf is one of the most idyllic places on the island, with perfect conditions for learning all types of water sports. Stable winds blow at 3 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, the water is warm, and long, sunny days begin already in early spring. No wonder that windsurfing fans as well as sailors find their paradise here. The Southern coast of the island seduces mainly sunbathers, who can play mini-golf, go horse back riding, play beach volleyball, for example in Magaluf, Can Picafort, Cala Mesquida. The sailors will find a charming spot for themselves surrounded by pine trees or a calm port: Porto Colom, Cala D’Or, Porto Petro. This part of the rocky Majorca hides astonishing surprises. When stopping in Porto Cisto, one can see for himself, what the Dragon Cave (Cuevas del Drach) looks like, that is the rocky wonder of nature. Behind the last cave, the world’s largest underground lake is found – Lago Martel. The visitors are welcomed with a surprise – there are boats on the lake, and in the boats are... musicians who give classical music concerts. In the North-Eastern part of the coast of Majorca, another huge cave is located – d’Arta, the caverns of which are called: Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. No wonder that this place was an inspiration to one of its first visitors – Jules Verne.

Turtles, dolphins, corals... Retention of the incredible natural environment – despite the huge tourist inflow – is undoubtedly an advantage of Majorca. One of such charming places is the small Cabrera archipelago located 10 kilometers from the cape on the Southern coast (Cap de Ses Salines). A natural park was established here in 1991. It consists of 19 islands and islets. The largest one – Cabrera – used to be inhabited. Until today ruins of a 14th century castle-fortress are maintained there, which defended the inhabitants from pirate attacks. The rich flora and fauna create a specific eco-system, while the isolation of the region have caused particular forms of them to develop independently from those found on the continent. A consequence of this are endemic kinds of plants and animals, especially different kinds of lizards. The park protects not only land, but also the surrounding waters, thanks to which one can meet turtles, dolphins, observe colorful corals in crystal clear water as well as watch sea snails. In order to moor in this zone, one has to have permission, which is issued by the authorities in Palma. It is worthwhile applying for it, in order to see this one of the most unique places on earth, with intact natural environment maintained.

ARTISTIC MENU From the outside, El Bulli looks like a typical Spanish hacienda, rustic in style, but calling it just a restaurant is close to profanity. This is the laboratory of taste, shape and color, where each dish is a secret construction of unpredictable origin. What does first class cuisine serve? Among the main dishes, arctic snail sashimi or rabbit ears deserve special attention. But this is just the beginning. The chef of El Bulli, Ferran Adria, became renowned in the restaurant sector thanks to such culinary creations as parmesan in the form of spaghetti or carrot foam. Vegetarians will also find something for themselves here. They can taste pralines in mozzarella shells with anchovy filling or have coconut milk shells and pistachio mousse for dessert, which was prepared… on liquid nitrogen.

Nobody here gets surprised to see tomato seed juice, lychee caviar or freshly cut grass flavored ice cream. Incredible? That’s the whole point! Ferran Adria – like a true surrealist – mixes flavors, conventions and forms on the plates. There is a reason why he is called the Salvador Dali of the Spanish cuisine. And although ordinary people who have the chance to taste the artwork of the maestro will probably ask: how much of it is art and how much is madness? It is worth remembering that cooking in El Bulli is art, restricted only by human imagination. Virtuoso in the Kitchen The 46 year-old Catalan, Ferran Adria, today recognized as one of the greatest and most creative chefs, began his culinary adventure at the beginning of the 1980s. He was first employed in El Bulli as… a catering assistant, in the times when the diner, one of many in Costa Brava, was still totally unknown. After less than two years he became chef, and is currently a specialist in molecular gastronomy. This, since recently fashionable cuisine, means cooking using the latest technologies, for example in vacuum packaging or using liquid nitrogen.

It is the biochemists and engineers who know the most about what we eat and it will be them who will carry out the next revolution in the art of preparing dishes. ALCHEMY AND COOKING The restaurant is only opened from April till September, because during the other months Adria does research, experiments and he travels, from which he gets his inspirations. Most of the time, however, he works in a modern laboratory in El Haller in Barcelona. The maestro is not going to stop fulfilling his culinary fantasies. He is also the founder and the chairman of the Alicia foundation – a culinary consulting and education center. Scientists and chefs from all over the country teach in the center and promote balanced diets and healthy eating. These are the assumptions of molecular cuisine: everything is prepared on the basis of fresh fruits and vegetables, natural products fried without fat. The center consists of a scientific, documentary and a conference department as well as a huge kitchen. Under the eye of the maestro, a book on the art and techniques of cooking is being created here, which will describe all existing culinary techniques as well as edible products from all over the world.

What do Queen Elizabeth II, David Beckham, Kobe Bryant and Elton John have in common? They all love Bentley. Although the car gem costs as much as many real-estate properties (an only – EUR 400,000…), the timeless shape and unique technology attract both traditionalists and supporters of modernity. It all started 90 years ago. Walter Owen Bentley worked during World War I for the RAF, as an aircraft engine designer. The experience he got there was applied by the ingenious engineer in the automotive sector; he constructed a unique engine for a vehicle of his own production. Already in 1920, journalists of Autocar magazine, delighted with the combination of reliability and enormous power, appreciated the work of Owen Bentley. Its potential was immediately used in car races. In 1924 the first model won the elite Le Mans race, while as of 1927 a four-year domination of cars with winged-B at the radiator has started. And at the same famous track Bentley confirmed the success in 2003, by winning a double victory and thus returning to the spotlight of car racing. Today Bentley Azure is not only a synonym of luxury. One of such ways is lace – that which will remind us of our grand-mothers, as well as modern lace, the sexy one and lace with an ethnical edge: all transparencies will be incredibly stylish in the upcoming seasons. Even Miuccia Prada has chosen delicate designs for the winter – one has to believe the master… In her designs, the noble, heavy lace is beige, gold or orange in color. Meanwhile, in Alexander McQueen’s designs, lace is shaped as a snowflake, and at Miu Miu’s – a “lace-like” pattern on the fabric. One thing is certain – lace will definitely come in handy for the carnival. As well as for a dinner by candlelight... Meanwhile, the 1980s are back on the catwalk! For the weekdays, however, we recommend something more subtle than a total make-over. This style looks exceptionally good in designs by Laroche, in which the following tendency of this season can also be spotted: glitter and gloss – and this means sequin madness at Sonia Rykiel’s as well as noble satin at Dior’s (perfect for cocktails). Another trend of this year: a great comeback by elegant furs. Spotted and striped coats in the large overcoat version as well as…a skirt, which perfectly fits the fashion for folk and ethno, which even the Gucci house of fashion is leaning toward. Folk skirts, scarves decorated with a pattern worn to suit, excerpts from multiple cultures put on top of each other in a colorful mix. Best if in the shape of the letter “A” and large in size, however, this season all designs are allowed: just take a look at the envelope-style bags of Missoni, Fendi or Lacroix, frill madness at Prada and oversized bags at Jacobs, Dior, Dolce&Gabbana and Versace. The craziness of the season are the feet – necessarily in socks, high heels and in a distinct color: red, magenta, maybe yellow? Perfect colors to scare away the autumn grayness or to stand out in the snow… As regards to men’s fashion – we are also witnessing the continuation of recent styles: polite, boyish fashion is still doing very well, as well as the “slovenly” rock and roll trend. As in the previous years, the hit is connecting sports with elegant apparel. The hit of the season are: quilted jackets, shining leather, strong blue on shirts and sweaters (just take a look at designs by Cavalli) and velvet on the trousers. Burburry also suggests practically huge sweaters with a large braid-like tangle, sticking out from underneath classical, gray coats. Meanwhile at Chanel’s we will find sweaters with Alpine patterns embroidered on them, such as, for example a funny penguin. Galeon has made its debut in the Middle East! The 16th Dubai International Boat Show at the Dubai International Marine Club is the biggest and the most prominent exhibition of recreational crafts, accessories and yacht equipment in the Middle East. Organized by the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) it takes place in an elegant Dubai International Marine Club. The spot has been holding local and international on-water sporting events since 1988. This year (11-15 March 2008) 48 countries and over 500 exhibitors participated and 27,000 guests visited the boat show. The next Dubai International Boat Show will take place from 3 to 7 March 2009.

Polyacht – Gdańsk Fair of Water Sports is the most important place on the Polish seaside where enthusiasts of water sports from all over Poland meet to exchange their experience. This year’s fair was exceptional for Galeon. Most of the luxurious crafts were presented on an individual quayside. Faithful clients turned out as expected despite bad weather. They were given an opportunity to arrange individual yacht testing.
