f you ask around, it seems Canada is becoming the Nexus of new music and great talent. Artists such as Drake, Deadmau5, Joni Mitchell, Justin Bieber and many others are all Canadian product.

This month’s feature artist and Toronto resident Slakah The Beatchild is no exception to that statement. Slakah has worked with artists around the world and is an extremely gifted producer that draws modern influence from J-Dilla, Raphael Saadiq, and Pete Rock. This self-proclaimed “performing producer” also draws influence from other artist such a Marvin Gaye, Minnie Riperton, Bob Marley and The Zombies. Slakah was raised on old school soca, reggae & classic soul records which easily explains why his music is always described as soulful and warm.

In January 2014 Slakah will drop the highly anticipated Soul Movement Vol.2. In 2008 Soul Movement Vol.1 showcased Slakah’s skills as an artist, writer and producer, and featured tracks with Drake, Shad, Ayah, Divine Brown and Mystic & Miranda. Vol.1 was an instant classic that quickly flew off the shelves as an import here in the U.S. From our early listening of Soul Movement Vol.2 it promises to be yet another international hit and features Spek Won, Glenn Lewis, Ayah, Tanika Charles and Michael Aristolle. If Vol.1 is still in rotation on one of your playlist and you can’t wait for January you can pre-order Soul Movement Vol.2 which gives you an instant download and for the first 500 orders it ships on vinyl. Get your hands on it now, trust me it’s The Cure.

signs HappyBirthday Sagittarius The most important thing to notice this month is that Venus goes out of phase in Capricorn, retrograding for the first time in 18 months December 21 – January 31, 2014. Unfortunately Venus retrograde gives many of us a time to review our relationship and for many of us, break up before the holidays so we 1) don’t have to buy a gift and 2) because you don’t want to spend the holidays with your partner and his or your family playing pretend. The feelings you have been having may have been building up for quite some time or you realize as the holidays get closer that you no longer have much in common and that it really is time for a change. You’ll be able to enjoy a far less hectic December thanks to the New Moon December 2 in your solar 12th house on the 2nd. Mercury in Sagittarius as well – there from the 4th to the 23rd will enhance your intuition as Venus did in October. Listen to your inner voice Capricorns and learn to trust it more than ever. Also set aside time for quiet contemplation as the year comes to an end and in preparation for the symbolic beginning of your new solar year in January – when your new moon brightens the sky January 1st.

You’ll be on the go – just the way you like it – for most of December with an active and varied social life. However once Mercury moves into Capricorn, your solar 12th house of contemplation, you’ll be ready for some down–time and nesting. A slower pace will be much more appealing and the pleasure of your own company far better than most other company (except your partner and or your dog!).

Mercury the communicator is quite the zippy planet this month – transiting 3 signs and touching on your 9th,10th and 11th houses through December. Plan an evening with co–workers between the 4th & 23rd and join friends for a special holiday social event – maybe a costume party of black tie affair for fun – during the last week of 2013. Make sure you include everyone in your holiday cheer – even those coworkers you don’t know very well or like very much. There is much to be said for being friendly, outgoing and ’faking it till you make it’ right now Pisces.

Mars your ruler and the planet of energy and passion advances into Libra, your solar 7th house of one on one relationships – where he stays for a very extended time into mid 2014 (retrograding along the way). This is not a good placement for Mars at all. Mars is exalted in Capricorn – meaning he is happiest in the hard working earth sign, while the least happy in Libra – the sign that is known for being indecisive and scattered. Mars in Libra is sure to trigger tempers and impatience as well as disagreements and drama with those closest to you. Not a great recipe for the holidays!

Jupiter the lucky planet transiting your solar 3rd house favorably aligns with Saturn the planet of focus and discipline in Scorpio, your solar 7th house increasing the odds for good news for you your mate or both of you in December. This lucky influence is positive for all of your close relationships, business and personal and you’ll be in sync with almost everyone. This planetary alignment could also trigger a chance encounter that changes your life for the better…how exciting!

DECEMBER 2013 will come to a close The December 2 New Moon with potential for career in Sagittarius starts Decemsuccess under the Deber off on the right note for cember 17 Full Moon in you twinsters. This Full Moon will create a double em- finally come through. phasis on positive upbeat relationships this month. Be open to compromise and things will work out the way you want them too – that’s the main lesson of this Full Moon. Main news this month is the retrograde movement of Venus, the goddess of love and relationships – in Capricorn your opposite sign and 7th house of relationships and partnerships December 21st – January 31, 2014. This greatly increases the odds of misunderstandings with anyone and everyone close to you, as well as with coworkers and during professional consultations. Put important relationships decisions (and a marriage/ commitment ceremony) on hold until mid–February. If you do go ahead with a new relationship during Venus retrograde, chances are it won’t last or it will be more than you bargained for.

The December 2 New Moon in Sagittarius, your 3rd house of communication and short trips accents one of your favourite months of this year. You love being the axis upon which social activities twirl and swirl and this month, with the Full Moon in Gemini on the 17th as well – you’re the axle Librans. With communications director Mercury in the same part of your chart December 4–23, it’s an ideal time to connect with neighbours and other people in your community. Consider hosting a holiday open house for your neighbours and friends around the 17th.

You love nothing more The wider world beckthan to shine and socialize ons under a beneficial Leos, and this month ofalignment of Jupiter the fers all that and more. The planet of good luck and New Moon December 2 in good fortune in Cancer, Sagittarius highlights your your 9th house of long 5th house of romance, distance travel and Satself–fulfillment and creurn the planet of disciativity, while the Full Moon pline in your sign on the December 17 sparkles in 12th. Plan a vacation or your 11th house of friendtrip of a lifetime for next ships. Plan a get together year – 2014 – and exwith friends around the 17th when you’re the hostess or host plore learning possibilities for the New Year. Either or both will with the mostess or most! satisfy your desire for adventure and broadening your horizons and experience. The educational option will enhance your career beginning the second half of 2014 when Jupiter moves into Leo, your career and ambitions zone.
