Research of Trend & Colour for Samuji

Process // Carhartt For this project i worked with WGSN in my research for trend and compared what would go nicely with the Design-DNA of Carhartt. I choosen to work with utility & colour blocking, which also inspired the research I did on practical pockets and shapes of workwear. I used the excavator in my Photoshop collage and drawn on to it. I felt this made sense, becuase I was inspired by the lagacy of Carhartt. They started making clothes for miners and workers in 1889. Therefore I thought I will use something from the building plot. I combined my skethces and draw them clean in Illustrator. After research on fitting trends I have developed a moodboard to guid me further through the designprocess. And also to keep me to not suddently go an alterative way.
Based on my research of the Design-DNA of Carhartt I have put together a lifestyle collage of the target group and segment I want to work with. Women aged 18-25 years. The target group is young, mybe a drop out, creative and lives in a big city, where there’s room to express herself trough ffashion. she has strong opinions about sustainability. Therefore, when she buys new, she buys better kvality, because it lasts longer than fast fashion. She is feminin but with an attitude and can’t stand injustice I’ve chose brught colour, based on the vibrant target group, who wants to stand out from all the grey in the concrete jungle. Lastly I’ve sown the bomber jacket i design and modelled it my self. (Go to the first page) The hangtag is lasercut wood and sketched some alternatives.

INSPIRATION I’ve chosen to work with A/W 2020 for this dress project. My baseline of inspiration comes from WGSN A/W 2021. The theme has a Victorian-modern twist with puffy sleeves and short lenght. I’ve chose some elements of this theme. I’ve created this moodboard and colour story based on the Victorian feeling, dark warm colours and the sense of luxury. I’v added some pictures of modern outer space or alienated pictures viz. to underline the forgotten and the modern. I want to created a styles of lounge wear. Dresses one can use all day and all night. The target group of this project is the costumers of Dress Lab, who are mainstreamers
