beach that connects Palm Island, Don Pedro Island and Little Gasparilla Island. There are approximately 750 platted lots in Palm Island Estates with close to 250 residences, 100 of which are families who live here year round. Palm Island Resort, at the north end of the Island offers a perfect destination vacation in addition to ownership. World class fishing, boating, shelling and fabulous sunsets are enjoyed on a daily basis. On island, transportation by golf cart or bicycle is the preference. Palm Island owners allow nothing to interfere with their desire for casually elegant, undisturbed relaxation and unfettered Florida living. You will slow down, gratefully put the corporate world behind you and slip into yourself again once you step onto Palm Island. Vacant land: $30,000 to Gulf front lots in the $600,000-$800,000. Both have their own exclusive ferry service to and from the island. There are no formal commercial establishments on the island such as restaurants or grocery stores. There are however several great waterfront restaurants in our area that are just a short boat ride away. On the mainland there are many restaurants, grocery stores and shopping all within a short distance of the island. There is a small non-denominational church on the island that provides services each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There are no paved roads on the island, only miles of sandy trails flanked by topical foliage. Take long leisurely walks or travel by golf cart down these paths to explore the beauty of the island. The peaceful,

Boca Grande is a quiet island town, rich in history and is a permanent home for some but is traditionally an island getaway unspoiled by heavy commercialization. When not fishing for the famous Tarpon also known as Silver King, many other sport fish can be found such as snook, redfish, grouper, king fish, and trout in the backwaters of Charlotte Harbor, Gasparilla Sound, or just off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. Boca Grande also boasts its own golf course and is a short drive from several off-island golf courses. If fishing and golfing are not your things, you will surely find enjoyment in the miles of peaceful white sandy beaches, boutique shops in the quiet downtown district, or even a spa getaway right on the beach.

MANASOTA KEY

Chris Lee

Manasota Key is a unique barrier island located off the Southwestern coast of Florida between Sarasota and Ft. Myers. This island offers the true old Florida feel that we all beckon back to. There aren’t any high rises, traffic lights or traffic jams. There is

simply the beach and relaxation. There are 4 public beaches on the island that offer a variety of activities for all members of

the family. The island is separated from the mainland by the intercoastal waterway. This affords homeowners the option of owning beachfront or bayfront homes or condos. If you are looking to play some golf or take the day and do some fishing that is always an option. This area of Florida has been largely undiscovered by the masses due to the lack of a major highway nearby. The Tampa International Airport is only about 80 minutes away. The Ft. Myers International Airport is about 90 minutes away. There are also direct flights into Sarasota and Punta Gorda from many locations across the country making travel to this piece of paradise a relative ease. Manasota Key has a wide range of real estate options. There are one bedroom apartments starting at $89,000. If you are interested in a home those start at $239,000. Currently the most expensive home for sale is a 4,574sqft Mediterranean beauty built in 2009. The list price is $6,500,000. That is a bargain when compared with other barrier islands around the state of Florida.

Similarly, there is a residential lifestyle for everyone and every budget. Whether your living choice is a condominium, townhome, single family home, or renting one of these, there is a home waiting for you in one of the several unique communities and subdivisions which comprise this desirable area. If you prefer, build your dream home on the many, varied home sites available. From water front lots on canals, creeks, or bay front on the Lemon Bay/Gulf IntraCoastal Waterway, to golf course or interior lots, there is a home site for almost everybody. Un-crowded, with natural beauty and charm, and all of the amenities anyone would want within minutes, the Cape Haze/Placida area is the perfect place in which to live. Come visit and see for yourself!

The old part of town is centered along West Dearborn Street where there are many nice shops and little restaurants with outside dining. The Art Center has a gallery and also has the Suncoast Writers Guild. The Lemon Bay Playhouse on Dearborn St. provides live theater productions. Englewood also has 2 libraries, the Elsie Quirk Public Library and the Charlotte Public Library at Tringali Center which also has an all inclusive Sports Center. Englewood was voted #2 on the list of top emerging US destinations according to TripAdvsor.com and on the top 10 destinations by Travelocity. This is truly Old Florida at its finest. Nestled along the shores of Lemon Bay, an estuary of the Gulf of Mexico it was virtually undiscovered until the late 1960’s. Even today you’ll find the atmosphere to be more laid back with a variety of neighborhoods from small, quiet family areas to larger more upscale communities with a mix of older and newer homes.

Additionally, living within 15-20 minutes from the beaches at Manasota Key and Boca Grande and the 20 (plus) golf courses within a 20 mile radius makes Rotonda a winning choice for home buyers.

SOUTH GULF COVE South Gulf Cove is a waterfront/boating community just off the western shore of Charlotte Harbor on the Cape Haze Peninsula. Approximately fifty five miles of wide and deep brackish water canals make South Gulf Cove a favorite among both large powerboat and sailboat home owners. The community boasts beautiful newer waterfront homes, parks, boat launches, a very large Interceptor Lagoon (great for fishing, boating,

water skiing and jet skiing) and a remote

From the Tarpon rich waters to the action packed flats, great fishing abounds at every turn in our area. Like everything else, different times of the year offer unique opportunities to enjoy different types of fishing. As the sun begins to warm the coastal waters in the Spring, fish that were lethargic in the cooler months begin to find their appetite with vigor. Snook, trout, and redfish take up their stations on the flats presenting great opportunities for light tackle and fly fisherman alike. Kingfish, mackerel, cobia, and pompano all show themselves en mass beginning in March well into the Summer. Limited commercial takes of these species have allowed numbers to swell in recent years. All these factors translate into unforgettable days on the water. Other species that have greatly increased in numbers due to increased protection are the offshore and deep sea species such as grouper, snapper, and permit. Pound for pound some of the hardest fighting and best eating fish on the planet. Delicacies to grace any table.
