GREG CLIFFE

Greg Cliffe was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 09/02/1956 and now lives in the Blue Mountains, 100 kilometres from Sydney. Over 25 years my studio painting research has evolved to embrace the concept of totalized time and the stratification of memory. I explore historical references in my paintings, creating a mixture of philosophical and ideological threads through time. I have always been interested in how social values and cultural history can be transmitted by folk narrative, fables, and absurd “yarns” and what these say about group cohesion, conformity, and shared presumptions. I like to collect a range of humorous stories and anecdotes, images of historical artefacts and documents from which to base subjects for my current fictional/factual narrative paintings.

My recent work has been focused on the significance of location, my family history and social history through more traditional genres and techniques such as landscape, still life and portraiture. It is extending the subject matter I have explored with group figurative compositions over the last 20 years into the places associated with the stories I have explored.

My painting technique having evolved from linear expressionist landscape paintings in the 1990’s to montaged compositions of family and social history images. This was previously executed in Alkyd mediums to my more recent traditional solvent-free oil painting processes used by the Baroque masters, C19th Romanticists and Pre-Raphaelites.

ANDREA COLLANTE

https://www.artavita.com/ artists/27666-andrea-collante

The artist creates mixed media works in which she combines a range of materials into sculptures. Currently she uses techniques borrowed from traditional textile embroidery, focusing on organic movement, the simplification of forms, and the use of prefabricated and removable modules. Her degree in architecture influences her work as she explores concepts such as space, order, shadow, volume, and geometry. These concepts and ideas are translated into pieces that have been conceived harmoniously and in symmetrical balance.

GABRIELL

www.gabriellavoie.ca gabriel.lavoie@ucm.ca

Gabriell uses art (painting) to manifest and communicate the Light that is in him. He sincerely believes that art allows human beings to manifest the qualities of their soul.

Living modestly and humbly in Quebec, Gabriell grew up in the Lanaudière region. From his infancy, his drawing talents surprised everyone with their quality which seemed to come so naturally to him. Later, over the years, his love for drawing led to a reputation for excellence in portraiture. In spite of this recognition and success, he felt a great emptiness within and several personal changes set off deep questioning as to the meaning of his life.

During this period, not only did he call into question his need for success and acknowledgment, but also his talent. It became a watershed in his artistic career; a new path opened and new creativity emerged. It was the beginning of his life as an initiatic artist. Guided by greater confidence in his talent and a more present spirituality, he sketched landscapes inspired by the world of fairies, reflecting his new aspirations. This experience lasted a few months and proved to be very revealing. Then, oils and acrylics became his new choice of expression. The symbiosis between his personal soul-seeking and his painting gave rise to works of great depth, which allow him to express his immense potential.

MARLENE JORGE

https://artistmarlenejorge.com

Born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, in 1974, Marlene Jorge is a neurodivergent, autodidact pop surrealist artist who addresses unconsciousness in its true nature. Although mostly isolated from the fine arts as a child, Jorge expressed a deep love and ability for the fine arts throughout her life. The artist spent her earlier years in her native Dom. However, after graduating from Law School in 1998, the artist moved to NYC, where she spent most of her youth. The artist’s first drawing composition is dated 1982, owned by the artist’s parents, who had observed Jorge’s artistry in drawing and painting at the very early age of 5.

Marlene Jorge offers a unique version of liberated unconsciousness and challenges the spectators to sympathize with their inner selves, untouched by preconceived social, cultural, and background fostering. Aesthetically inquisitorial expressions, stylized poses, wandering gazes, and sentimental imagery are essential elements to the artist’s oeuvre, as, too, is the gentle, beautiful dominance of the human figure expressed in a uniquely evocative manner. She paints from the point of view of outcasts and misfits, bringing a unique perspective and incisive wit to her body of work. Jorge’s style embodies romanticism, nostalgia, and sentimental imagery accompanied by dense tones, bold lines, longing gazes, and wandering expressions to the unknown, tenting us to understand and embrace our true selves without the life-giving preconceptions we ceaselessly experience.

“My name is Sonnhild Kost. I was born in 1961 in Germany. Art and especially painting interested me from an early age. Many years passed before I picked up the brush myself. First, people liked to hear my criticism of other works. When I was in my early 50s, I began to be self-taught and artistically active. Until then, I had worked as a draftsman in my dream job. Life showed me a way to balance my inner being with the outer. I am very thankful for that. I started with abstract acrylic painting. But since I always want to develop myself further, I now also use digital media. I can express all my feelings in my art.

I am a member of the Kunstverein Freiberg and have had several joint exhibitions with them. I look back on around 20 solo exhibitions throughout Central Saxony. I’ve been on Instagram @sonnhild.kost since the beginning of the pandemic and post my works there. I have participated in several international digital art exhibitions and competitions. I am a member of Artavita and Hansford & Son. Last year, I took part in the Luxembourg Art Prize. I also work closely with M.A.D.S. Milano and the Circle Foundation. I see my strength in new challenges.”

“I am a Geometric Abstract Intimist that seeks to express various emotional situations and psychic spaces via a layering process that operates out of a collagespace tradition. My watercolors emanate from small 6” x 4” paper collages or monotypes.

As a painter my focus is creating works that unite the modern traditions of Classical formal structure using geometry with the Romantic/Impressionist concern for color and gestural improvisation in order to create a visual drama—via opposites, that equates to the pulse of life. I agree with Kandinsky that the circle is the most peaceful shape and that it represents the human soul. In my work, I hope TO PRESENT (inside to out) rather than REPRESENT (outside to in).”

Antonella Pintauro’s artistic activity began at an early age. Self-taught, the artist approaches palettes and brushes by painting the world around her. Among her first creations, a painting depicting her sister who died prematurely, Maria. Flowers, meadows and colors… a lot of colors, because color is the real protagonist present throughout the artist’s production.A soft, full-bodied and at the same time light color, painted with a brush with large hairs, never clean because constantly mixed intuitively with many other colors. It is precisely from this amalgam of elements and these impetuous mixtures that the most beautiful canvases of her production were born.

KIRSTEN TODD, ART AT VIXEN

www.artatvixen.co.uk

scribbles@artatvixen.co.uk

Kirsten has always felt the need and drive to paint, draw or create. Painting and creating art for Kirsten is like a release, a freedom, entering an altered state or reality, as she becomes in flow and in tune with the colour, paint and canvas, and bringing a connection to the Divine and all that is. It is as if in divine flow as the piece of work is developed and the creation is born. Art has taken her on so many wonderful journeys of discovery and is continually helping her to expand emotionally and spiritually.
