Basketball

On Wednesday, the freshmen Tide traveled to and defeated Conwell Egan 62-31. The team was able to hold their opponents to single digits in 3 out of 4 quarters defensively. James Kaune ‘28 led with 17 points.

The freshmen Tide headed back to Cardinal O’Hara for the second time this season and came out on top with a 52-34 victory. The team was able to hold their opponents to single digits in 3 out of 4 quarters. James Kaune led with 16 points

The JV team had two games this week. The first game was at Egan. The team built a large lead playing great basketball and they held off a furious comeback to secure the victory. The team played very unselfish. The team then travelled to O’Hara on Friday night. They also built a large lead built unfortunately they could not hold off the Lions and they lost. The team wraps up their season this week.

The varsity team travelled to Egan this week and battled for a hard fought PCL victory. The team then travelled to O’Hara and found a way to prevail in overtime. The team heads into the last week of the regular season with three games. The first at Ryan and then they end the regular season with two games at home. Senior Day vs Carroll on Friday and then Lansdale on Sunday.

In a hard-fought game against St. Helena, the team came up just short in a 40-50 loss. Nate Ficoturo ‘29 led the scoring effort with 11 points, knocking down two three-pointers. John Malloy ‘30 and Ben Hoyos-Sosa ‘29 each added 6 points, while Monty Angell ‘30 and Mike chipped in with a three-pointer apiece, contributing to a balanced offensive effort.

The team bounced back with a thrilling 39-36 victory over SSPJ. Jack Fatica ‘29 and Nate both led the way with 11 points, while Mike added 5, including a clutch three-pointer. In the final moments, Jack delivered the highlight of the game, sinking a game-winning three at the buzzer to secure the win.

In their season finale, the team battled fiercely in a heartbreaking 46-47 loss to Grover Cleveland. Jack led the scoring with 12 points, and Teddy Theil ‘30 followed closely with 11, both hitting three three-pointers. The entire team showed heart and determination, coming together to make every possession tough for their opponent, leaving everything on the court in their final game of the season.

Bowling

The Tide continued their hot streak on Monday as they defeated Archbishop Ryan 4-0. The squad is 11-1 in their last 3 matches!

The Tide continued their strong outings on Wednesday by defeating Bonner 3-1 in a PCL away match. The team currently sits in 4th place in the PCL.

On Thursday, the Tide celebrated Cole Wingerd ‘25, Gavin Ola ’25, Wyatt Theissen ‘25 and Ben Blades ’25. The Tide was defeated 4-0 by Conwell Egan. Although the team did not come out on top, they proved they can compete with the number 1 team in the league!

Hockey

Devon beat Father Judge 5-3 and Perkiomen Valley 8-4 last week.

The two wins extend the Frozen Tide’s win streak to 4 vs AAA Flyers Cup-elgible opponents.

In their away game on Monday, Grant Gale ‘26 stopped 41 of 44 shots as the Frozen Tide rolled to victory. James Gabriele ‘25 (2g, 1a), Logan Reaney ‘26 (1g, 1a) and Kieran Crossan ‘25 (1g 1a) were multi point scorers and Braydon Russo ’27, Danny Pucci ‘28, and Danny Donegan ’28 pitched in with points of their own.

In their away game on Thursday, Aidan Wright ‘27 stopped 35 of 39 shots. Crossan (3goals, 2assists) led the scoring surge. His linemates Reaney & Gabriele had 1 goal and 2 assists each. Danny Donegan, Jan Bach ’26, and Josh Vaughn ‘27 added scoring from the defense.

Indoor Track

On February 2, Devon Prep Track and Field competed at the TFCA of GP Meet #9 at the University of Pennsylvania, delivering strong performances across multiple events.

In the 200m, sophomore Lucian Pfeiffer ‘27 clocked a season-best time of 26.13, showing continued improvement. Senior, Jack Bonner ‘25 also posted a season-best time of 58.66 in the 400m. In the mile, senior, Sam Kleiner ’25 made his season debut in the event, finishing with a time of 5:07.

In the field events, freshman, AJ Adams ‘28 recorded a jump of 3106 in the triple jump, while senior, Carter Shaak ‘25 had an impressive showing in the long jump, leaping 20-05.75 to secure second place overall. With multiple personal bests and a podium finish, Devon Prep continues to build momentum as the season comes to a close with PCL Championships this coming weekend.

Swimming

The Tide swim team faced off with the talented group of athletes from St. Joe’s Prep last week. Though it wasn’t enough to come away with a win this time, it was a great effort from our swimmers, and there are recognitions due for their teamwork and exceptional individual performances - namely Will Sutton ’27, who logged a personal best in the 100 yard Freestyle with an almost full second drop, finishing in a respectable 56.83.

Wrestling

On Wednesday, the Tide wrestling team celebrated Senior Night on the last home match of the season against Church Farm School. The evening started with the Athletic Department and wrestling team recognizing their two seniors, Shane Dugan ‘25 and John Curran ‘25 along side with their families for all they’ve done for the program! It was a great opportunity for the boys to wrap up their last home match as Devon Prep wrestlers!

As for the dual match itself, the atmosphere was electric as we had many members of the student body show up to make the night extra special along with many other spectator’s. The dual started out with a bang as Drew Buzbee ‘28 (114), Salvatore Albert ‘28 (121) and Christian Leckman ‘28 (133) dominated their opponent’s with receiving pins for the Tide. The next three matches were fought hard as Xavier ‘29 (127), Charlie Kleiner ‘29 (139), and Ben Veith ‘29 wrestled very well but unfortunately came out on the losing side of their respective matches. Next up were the matches of the night as captain, Shane Dugan ‘25 (160) made his match come down to the last seconds of the third period where he received a pin for the Tide rewarding his team with six points. Next, John Curran ‘25 (172) had a great battle with a strong opponent that also came down to the closing seconds. Unfortunately, John came up shy of the victory but wrestled one of his best matches of his season! The last match of the varsity match was wrestled by Jason Bushra ‘27 (189) who fought tough the entire match and went the distance with his opponent but came up on the losing end. The final score favored Church Farm School 47-24 as the Tide gave up four forfeits (24 points) in the match due to injuries in the lineup.

As for the JV matches, the Tide had seven matches in which they won them all. Drew Buzbee, Salvatore Albert, Xavier Smith, Teddy Marvin ‘27, Charlie Kleiner, Ben Veith, and Jason Bushra all wrestled extremely well with ending their match with their hand raised!

Athlete of the Week

Jack Fatica ‘29

Jack has been a standout performer this week, leading our team with 26 points across three games and finishing as the top scorer in two of them. His defensive intensity and relentless hustle set the tone, keeping the energy high on both ends of the floor. Beyond scoring, he made key plays for his teammates and capped off his stellar week with a clutch, game-winning three at the buzzer. His passion, accountability, and leadership embody the core values of DP Basketball, making him a well-deserved Athlete of the Week. Roll Tide!
