Campie Newsletter June 2010
… for the wonderful year we have enjoyed at Campie. It’s been a tremendous first year for me. The highlight has to be the sense of community that we have all generated as we work to improve our school grounds. The fundraising has done so much more than raise a huge amount of money. It has brought parents, carers, staff, children and neighbours together to dig, dance, sing, paint and celebrate. I think every single person in our school community has contributed to the wonderful playground and community we are now enjoying. Thank you.

When I came to Campie, in our 2 Stars and a Wish, you told me what a tremendous staff Campie have and you were so right. I would like to thank the staff for the welcome and support they have given to me in the last year, which has been a time of change for them. They have bravely supported all our new initiatives. They have also continued to give 100% to your children and I have seen the high standards of teaching and care that you told me were the reasons you rate Campie so highly. I am sure I speak on behalf of all the parents when I say, “Thank you Campie staff.” 1
Over the last term, you have baked, we have run and officiated at a marathon, parents arrested your children and some of you bought Spree books. Altogether around £2000 has been raised by Campie and £800 had already been raised. That should be enough to pay all the visas/passport/other costs involved in getting our Burmese teachers over. Well done everyone. So 4 of us set off on 5 July 2010 to go to Mae Sot. We will be blogging daily but not on Campie website. Please bookmark and read our Burma Blog site DAILY! I guarantee it will be entertaining!
www.campieburma.blogspot.com We have 2 new teachers joining us in August for a year. Mr Craig Keiller will be teaching P2 with support from Mrs Inglis and Mrs Jane Lyness will be teaching P4b with Mrs Di Rollo. This frees up Mrs Inglis +Mrs Di Rollo to support Literacy +Numeracy in P1-3.

Monday is Moving Day when teachers will move to their new classrooms. This means most children will spend the last week in a different classroom. We have prepared the children for this in Assembly but if they seem a bit out of sorts, that may be the reason. We’ll be reassuring them through this time. At Tuesday’s assembly we gather to say farewell and thank you to Mrs Jeffrey as she retires. Thank you Mrs Jeffrey for all you have taught Campie children over 28 years. Remarkable!
