Our Partners

Nourish Café provides delicious, home-made, wholefood, vegetarian meals, salads, juices, cakes and teas from 9.30am to 3pm Monday to Saturday. Growing People – who care lovingly for our grounds – is a small charity which, from its base at the Centre, uses horticultural therapy to support people with serious mental health issues.

ENCHANTED GARDEN EVENTS

plan and coordinate truly unique, relaxed, rustic-style weddings and events at the Centre. MeetUps – for unpaid carers and their cared for – are held fortnightly at the Centre on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm. The drop-in sessions are supportive, informative and fun. Hertswise is a county-wide service which helps people with dementia, low level memory loss or mild cognitive impairment (along with their families, carers and friends). Weekly ‘hub’ sessions held at the Centre on Wednesdays from 2-4pm provide fun activities, support, information and respite. New Leaf Wellbeing College runs free wellbeing courses this autumn at the Centre for anyone on a journey of recovery. Combining theory with practical advice and guidance, the sessions provide both encouragement and an opportunity for reflection. Angels Support Group, a small charity which supports families of children with ADHD and/or an autistic spectrum disorder, has its office on our site. We are planning for Join the Dots Forest School to run outdoor-based sessions for children which are designed to promote self-confidence, creativity and independence and support their relationship with nature.

The Counselling Service is an organisational member of the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (www. bacp.co.uk tel 01455 883300) and operates according to their guidelines. All our counsellors hold current DBS (CRB) checks, professional liability insurance, and all are individual members of a professional governing body.

Deciding to see a counsellor is a huge step and trying to find the right professional can be a daunting process. At the Centre, we have a large team of counsellors with many different specialisms and we take time to match you with the professional who we feel would best meet your needs. The service we offer is open-ended: your counselling will finish when you are ready to finish. There’s no need for a referral – simply contact us by phone, email or in person – and we will take it from there. Sessions are 50-60 minutes in length, and their frequency is tailored to your needs.

Our Low-Cost Service is designed for people in difficult financial circumstances, on a low wage, or in receipt of benefits. It is largely staffed by trainee counsellors who are in their final years of study at a variety of universities and work under close supervision within the Service. Ballet 2 ½-9 yrs Yoga 2-16 yrs Mindfulness 7-16 yrs

13 weeks – last Friday class – 14 Dec, last Saturday class 15 Dec Half-term week of 29 October These fun classes for children provide a wonderful discipline – improving co-ordination, spatial and body awareness, concentration and physical confidence. The ballet training follows the method taught by the Royal Academy of Dance. Examinations are available for students and there may be opportunities to appear in shows.

Dress comfortably and dance in either bare feet or dance shoes. We regret that after the first class parents will not be able to remain in the classroom. After that session, parents will be asked to leave the room. If you feel your child is not yet mature enough to cope with this, then we would suggest waiting until they are older to enrol. Please note that photos may only be taken with the permission of the tutor; filming will, however, never be permitted.

MINDFULNESS

MBSR Mindful Self-Compassion Mindfulness Yoga

is a gift that you owe yourself! It can immeasurably enrich your life. Mindfulness offers a way of changing the way you perceive the world, yourself and others. It presents a way of being which involves developing objective, non-judgemental awareness of what is happening in your internal and external space – in your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations.

MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR)

People who practice mindfulness report: • Reduced stress and a greater sense of calm • An enhanced sense of wellbeing • Improved self-esteem and greater confidence • Being less distressed by physical and psychological symptoms • Altered pain levels and an enhanced ability to cope with chronic pain • Better ability to focus and concentrate Whilst it has its roots in Buddhist meditation, the term as it is used today refers to a series of well-researched techniques largely based upon an 8-week mindfulness programme developed in the 1980s in America. MBSR is the original, classic course that brought mindfulness into the mainstream.
