Director’s Note

Welcome to the Spring/Summer guide! Recreation is the foundation of vibrant, healthy, and connected communities. Recent studies have shown that in addition to physical health benefits, individuals who participate in group fitness or team sports have improved mental health outcomes and feel more connected to their community. Eight in ten adults also report that recreational opportunities are very important or extremely important in improving their quality of life and choosing where to live.

As a recent transplant to Dickinson, one of the first questions I asked myself was, “What opportunities for recreation exist in the community for my family?” I was quick to recognize the recreational opportunities available at the community center, ice center, golf course, lake, trails, and parks along with numerous sports, programs, and family events. Sometimes it is easy to overlook all the great recreational options available in Dickinson. I hope you will take a moment to consider all our community has to offer and find something that you can enjoy!
