TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION

CONDITION OF BUSINESS The conditions of business set up below are information guidance for prospective buyer and seller with any enquiries relating to buying or selling at the auction. We encourage you to read them wisely and thoroughly.

THE BUYER

Estimated Price Estimated price is the price range, which reflects the opinion of our specialist for the price expected to offer at the auction. This should not be relied on as a statement that this price is either at which the lot will sell or its value for any other purpose. Estimated prices are based upon prices recently paid at auction, and the condition of the artworks including the quality, rarity and history of ownership (provenance). Reserve Price The reserve is the confidential minimum price the seller is willing to accept and below which a lot not be sold. Buyer’s Premium Buyers are reminded that the price to be paid will be the sum of the final bid price plus the buyer’s premium. The rate of buyer’s premium for each lot is 22 % (twenty two percent) of the hammer price.

BEFORE THE AUCTION

Viewing Pre-sale viewings are strongly recommended for prospective buyers in order to examine the artworks thoroughly. Pre-sale viewing is open for the public at no charge and usually displayed for 2 (two) days prior to the sale. Condition Reports Condition reports are available upon request. They are statements of opinion and should not be relied on as statements of definitive fact. Descriptions of property are not warranties and that lot is sold “as is”. All goods are sold with all faults and imperfections and errors of description. Illustrations in catalogues are for identification only. It is strongly recommended that prospective buyers inspect and seek any independent expert advice to satisfy you as to authorship, attribution, authenticity, genuineness, origin, date, age, provenance or condition of lot. Registration If you are planning to participate in the auction, you will need to register with us at the registration desk, to complete a bidder registration form and to receive a bidding number to identify you if you are a successful bidder. Registration can be made during the viewing period or 30 minutes prior to the sell.

THE AUCTION

The auctioneer will accept bids from those present in the saleroom or absentee bidders participating by telephone or by written bid left with TREASURES in advance. The lot being offered is usually illustrated on a screen. Bidding Increments Bidding generally opens below the low estimate and advances in the following increments: Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp.

007 WILLEM DOOIJEWAARD (b. Amsterdam, Netherlands 1892 – 1980) North Africa Oil on board: 25 x 40 cm Signed, lower right: W. Dooijewaard RP 35.000.000 - 50.000.000 Willem Dooijewaard was born in Amsterdam in 1892 where he studied arts as a student of the applied art school in Amsterdam. Together with his brother and fellow of the artist Jaap Dooijewaard, Willem Dooijewaard lived in Amsterdam till 1913, than Sumatra and Bali (Indonesia), Peking, Mongolia (China), Japan, the South of France and, after 1933, he moved back to Blaricum, Holland. He painted in an impressionistic manner figures, portraits, landscapes etc. Willem Dooijewaard had a solo exhibition in the Singer Museum Laren. Willem’s paintings are in the collection of the Singer Museum Laren and the Stedelijk van Abbemuseum, Netherlands. Willem was a great adventurer who travelled to Japan, where he often painted Geishas, and crossed the Gobi desert and Tibetan highlands on horseback and foot when it was truly frightening. He arrived in Bali in the early 1920’s, settled for a while and returned often before the Indonesian Independence. His modern figurative paintings of dancers are notable for their strong lines and exotic subjects. He was unwilling to sweeten the power of his vision. The resulting muscular Legong dancers and figures seem almost agonized, especially when compared to the more refined aesthetics of Hofker and Bonnet, whom he knew well. TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION

Gerard Pieter Adolfs was born on 2 January 1898 in Semarang, Central Java. He spent his youth in Java and received at home his first artistic inspirations. His father, Gerardus Cornelis Adolfs, was an architect and a versatile amateur (painter, photographer, piano and violin player as well as a pole vaulter). Adolfs studied architecture in Amsterdam. After graduating, he was drawn back to Java, were he designed houses in Yogyakarta, Solo and Surabaya. But soon he swapped the drawing pen for the dry-point, pencil and brush and from then on dedicated his whole life to painting. He was already well-known as a talented advertising illustrator, when in 1924 he was first introduced to the public of Yogyakarta as a painter, water-colourist and graphic artist. The main subjects of his work were scenes of Java, Bali, Japan and of North Africa (market sceneries, cock-fights, landscapes and townscapes) In 1940 - shortly before the occupation of Holland - Adolfs came back to Europe and settled in Amsterdam. On 22 February 1944, during an exhibition at the Kunstzaal Pollmann, the largest part of Adolfs‘ paintings was destroyed by the bombardment of Nijmegen. But Adolfs kept on working. He wrote and illustrated a book about his memories of Surabaya and exhibited in a lot of well-known galleries. He lived mostly in Amsterdam - interrupted by longer stays in Scandinavia, France, Spain, Italy and North Africa. In 1967 he retired to a small village in South-Holland. On 1 February 1968, G.P. Adolfs died in s’Hertogenbosch - Holland. TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION

Untung Wahono Born in Yogyakarta, 1962. He inherits his art talent from his father and along with his 4 other siblings Lugiono, Ignatius Suyudi, Klowor Waldiono and Dikdik Rahyono. He actively participated in several painting exhibitions such as group painting exhibition “Jakarta On The Spot” at Plaza Indonesia and Galeri Pasar seni, Jakarta, 2004. He received an art award given by the President of Indonesia (Rumah Kepresidenan Istana Negara) in 2002. He participated as the finalist of “UOB painting of the year” in 2012. The strength of his works showed in the designing composition of shapes and colors combined with the naïve attitude of his figures. His rarely left his canvas empty. Children themes have become his source of inspiration and visual idea which he poured thoroughly in his canvas. Untung Wahono is a kind of artist who exploits line and shape simultaneously. Almost every lines and objects uses the same form and size. The lines are formed by the same brush stroke. His forms; human, animal or tree objects are stereotypes and especially designed with “entertaining” themes. The lines and objects shape are painted freely unburdened with anything. Untung’s color in most of his paintings gives a distinctive and unique impression. He managed to combine the color composition between blue, yellow, green, and red in special design. His colors are made about 3 – 4 layers, for example from light blue into dark blue. These colors formed a situation and fantastic impression. In refers to his style of painting, his colors reflect a cheerful world, like a candy, taste nice and sweet. His mind is mounting. Untung creates his world of fantasy in a truly festive scene. His cheerful and bright colors dominated with blue and yellow invites the viewers to experience the real childhood world. Untung’s works in deed part of decorative style. His canvases are full with objects and rarely left empty. His objects are not single, ornamented with the presence of trees, humans, animals, and others. He often uses traditional festivity he personally observed around his surroundings, such as the independence day ceremony, the traditional dance or even just ordinary activities. The painting with fantasy world concept always offers an interesting dimensions at all times. Therefore, his painting interest not only loved among children but also adult connoisseurs. 052 UNTUNG WAHONO (Yogyakarta, 1962) Tamasya, 2016 Oil on canvas: 100 x 120 cm Signed and dated, lower right: Untung W. 2016 RP 10.000.000 - 15.000.000
