ERE WE ARE INTO ANOTHER YEAR AT MONESS AND LIKE OTHER TIMESHARE RESORTS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM WE ARE FACING A VERY CHALLENGING FUTURE. HOWEVER, THE COMMITTEE ARE DOING THEIR UTMOST TO ENSURE THAT MONEY IS SPENT WISELY AND THAT COST SAVINGS ARE BEING MADE WHEREVER POSSIBLE. Again, we had a very bad winter which affected the resort and we would like to thank all the staff for the extra work caused by the severe winter. However, the plus side is that by investing in a new generator we at least didn’t have a candlelit Hogmanay Dinner or other electricity cuts around the resort. The management and resort staff are always working at ways to improve the quality of the site services as economically and efficiently as possible and we have certainly had some success stories which I am sure that Julie will outline in her report. It is only by being a member of the Owners’ Committee that we can begin to understand how difficult it is to manage the resort. So a huge thanks to all the staff at the resort who are constantly working with Julie and her team to keep the running of the resort as efficient as possible. Joy says that she became a member of the committee because she was concerned with the increase in management fees year on year and wanted to find out what happened to these fees. She says that it was a revelation to find out all the different legislation relating to the resort for example risk assessment which is an added cost. These costs apparently do not apply to some of the overseas timeshare resorts and this is why their maintenance fees are considerably lower than those in the United Kingdom. Please don’t forget that we are always looking for other owners to join our committee so that we have a variety of expertise to help run the resort, and we are always grateful for your comments. We hope that we will have a large attendance of owners at this year’s Annual General Meeting which is being held on Thursday 9th June 2011 at 1.30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you then. Charlie, Isobel and Joy Moness Owners’ Club Committee
Please don’t forget that we are “toalways looking for other owners join our committee so that we

Selling
Your ownership details are not given out to any external organisations by our company. If you are contacted out of the blue by a resale company, beware if they tell you they have a buyer lined up, as the likelihood is they will ask you for a registration fee, sometimes amounting to £1000 or more. Many resale companies in Europe, especially those operating from Spain, often do not offer the same level of consumer protection as the UK. For helpful advice on selling through resale companies please refer to the following website www.timeshare-consumer-advice.org set up by TATOC (Timeshare Association), Should a purchaser be found through a reputable resale company, the ownership must be legally transferred through the Trustee Company. Until this is complete you remain the legal registered owner(s) and liable for the management fee. NB. If your week is in the RCI Points system, please note 12 months notice is required as per RCI’s terms and conditions. Please contact our office for a points surrender form. Should you find a buyer privately please contact our office for details on the legal transfer procedure through the Trustee Company and administration charges.

Refurbishment
Having recently completed refurbishment of the remaining Croft cottages we now turn our attention to other properties and projects in 2011. It’s worth bearing in mind that refurbishment is not only confined to cottage properties and last November/ December major work was undertaken to replace the electrical sub station and main distribution board serving the Resort. The new equipment has been commissioned and we hope to complete landscaping delayed by harsh weather in the not too distant future.
Roads
Following yet another harsh winter we’re presently assessing damage to roads and the boundary wall. The Resort team coped admirably throughout, turning up for work in some terrible conditions, which enabled us to stay open. If these winters are to be the norm then we must consider further investment in clearing/salting equipment.
Recreation
The Leisure Club refurbishment took longer than originally anticipated but was completed mid 2010. Visitors old and new are enjoying the upgraded facilities including new changing rooms, showers, treatment rooms, snooker room, sauna, steam room and crèche. The Reception area has also been improved along with the Farragon and Flemmyng Rooms. This year we’ll be showing prime sporting events in The Terrace, an environment suitable for all the family, and will feature other events from time to time such as the Royal Wedding.
Relaxation
The introduction of beauty and therapy treatments has proved very popular. Our on site beauty therapists, Complements UK, provide a wide range of treatments and are offering a special introductory discount exclusively for owners – please see special offer on page 5. To avoid disappointment we recommend booking ahead of your visit.
Resort achieves RCI Gold Crown status for 8th successive year
This is a most satisfying achievement particularly as it is based on the scores returned by exchange visitors to Resort during 2010. These scores were only possible thanks to continued investment as well as the ongoing commitment of our on (and off) site personnel. Thank you to all involved.
Restaurant
Proud of our Scottish produce we felt it was time we shouted about it! Look out for mention of Scottish produce on our informal and formal restaurant menus.
And finally... reducing costs
Heather Langhorn, Resort Services Manager, is heading up an energy saving project comparing a property kitted out with energy saving techniques and equipment with an identical ‘normal’ property. We’re keen to see whether any real savings can be made and whether the level of investment required in order to achieve these savings is justified. The comparison requires to be carried out over an extended period taking in all seasons so watch this space for an update next year. We look forward to welcoming owners old and new at the AGM and throughout the year. Best Wishes Julie Kilpatrick, Resort Director
