Seminar on The Rotary Foundation The seminar started with a presenta on by District Polio team under the leadership of SK Jain and Anil Newale. Na onal Polio Commi ee Chair PDG Deepak Kapur , in his key note address ,gave details of Herculean efforts taken in past, towards immunisa on . Also clarified that the job is NOT done yet, as long as a single case exists. TRF promo on was presented by Shirish Karnik and Sunil Vispute , wherein request for every Rotarian to donate every year was made and collec on target was well explained. Global Grants and District Grants was presented by Dipak Kulkarni, Stewardship by Girish KSHIRSAGAR and Educa on program's by Arun Sathe. An interac ve session of Quiz was taken by Mohan Palesha and Bhushan Mahajan. PDG Rajeev Pradhan delivered his keynote address in second half. Indeed an eye opener where he talked about Compassion Fa gue and need to innovate new strategies for promo on of giving. PDG Deepak Purohit did SWOT analysis of our district and expressed concern over contribu on towards Annual Fund. PDG Vinay Kulkarni spoke about prepara ons for the centennial year and targets. DG Subodh and DRFC Mohan appealed for generous contribu on to Polio, Annual Fund n Endowment. – PDG

Blood Bank
Pune Pride
Dear friends, You all are aware that we are inaugura ng the Blood Bank project on Friday, 4th Dec 2015 @ 5.30 PM. I thought of sharing with you, few details about this project, to understand it be er, so that you can share the same with your friends & rela ves and make it a point to invite them and bring them along with you, for the inaugura on func on. Objec ve/s of the project: Se ng up “Rotary Pune Pride Blood Bank” at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital (DMH), under Rotary's area of focus, “Disease Preven on & Treatment” To set up a new facility of Blood Bank while increasing current capacity 2.5 mes to collect and process 30,000 bags of blood every year to cater to 1,000-bedded expanded mul -specialty hospital. To equip the blood bank with state of the art machines to process collected blood into required components for use of pa ents within and outside the hospital. The purpose of this project was not only to increase the capacity but also the speed of processing blood & to improve the quality of processed blood & its components. This is achieved by deploying machines with latest technology. This blood bank is set up in the new building of DMH at ground floor on 5000 Sq. Ft. Area. The layout & interiors of the blood bank is prepared by keeping in mind the latest prac ces in blood bank opera ons. While u lizing the exis ng equipment, with the help of Rotary's Global Grant, following new equipment, es mated to cost around Rs. 64 L ($ 100,000) will be installed to take the capacity to process 30,000 bags of blood every year. DMH has long experience in opera ng blood bank and has well qualified dedicated staff of doctors and technicians. Beneficiaries of the project: All the pa ents in the hospital admi ed for surgeries or trauma treatment usually require blood to varying extent. Certain percentage of pa ents from economically weaker strata of the society is admi ed and treated in the hospital free of cost. While the 'paying' pa ents will be charged to recover the processing costs and a li le more, pa ents below poverty line will be cross-subsidized to offer blood components free of cost. To achieve the desired charity thro this project, our club has signed an MOU with DMH. Charity norms & the targets are clearly defined and the same is going to be monitored on quarterly basis by a commi ee appointed by our club. DMH will provide Monthly / Quarterly report on charity, by provide detail list of pa ents who have availed the benefits. Following en

Club – Talegaon MIDC Beneficiaries : 130 President : Da atray Pawar Descrip on : Every year we distribute Diwali sweets to orphan childran. This year we chose Naisargik Shikshan Santha, near Karla village and distributed 300 packets to them.

Diwali Faral Vatap Club – RC Karjat Beneficiaries : 294 President : Yogesh Rathi Descrip on : We Organised Diwali faral vatap programme on ocassion of Childern’s Day on 15th Nov at Vengaon Adivasi wadi. We distributed 80 packets of sweets, chivada & chocolates to the kids in the wadi in the presence of Rtn Sachin Oswal, Rtn Krishna Sagane, Rtn Hussain Jamali, Sunilkumar Soni and a news reporter. We observed the Diwali fes val, and the children were happy to boxes of sweets, chivada & choclates.

Diwali Faral Club – Shivajinagar Beneficiaries : 70 President : Sonia Shikarpur Non Rotary Partner : Ann Bhara Dole Descrip on : Our club organised Diwali faral on "Narakchaturdashi" for children studying in Bholagir School and living in a night shelter in Somwar Peth, Pune. This shelter is run for homeless children by veteran social ac vist Renutai Gavaskar. Rtn Vrinda Walimbe also donated "Sataranjis" to the school on the occasion.

Diwali Faral Vatap Club – RC Panvel Beneficiaries : 615 President : Abhinay Jogi Descrip on : RC Panvel spread smiles and happiness in more than 110 tribal families of Towerwadi. Boxes containing Faraal material, lamps, lanterns etc. were distributed at the hands of MLA Prashant Thakur and our Rotarians Rasik Thakkar, Anil Ambetkar, Kiran Parmar, Ashok Banthia, Shrikant Chilekar, Ramesh Bhole, Abhinay Jogi, Santosh Ambavane, Sunil Laghate, Suryakant Kulle, Anil Bhagat, Amar Mhatre, Shirish Pimpalkar, Surendra Jagtap, Devda a Mate, Milind Raste and Milind Parwatay. We also did Bhumi Pujan for providing toilet blocks. This programme was a ended by more than 300 villagers.

Club – Pune Magarpa a City Beneficiaries : 100 President : Nandu Chaudhari Descrip on : The club celebrated Diwali with the less fortunate children of Dharmavir Shamburaj Anathalay, Kalepadal, Hadapsar. The children were given sweets and were served lunch. 100 children were the beneficiaries.

Evening with orphans Club – Panvel Khandeswar Beneficiaries : 30 President : Sanjay Govekar Descrip on : An evening with the orphans of Balashram at Khanda Colony was spent by the Rotarians and their families. The birthday of one of the Annetes was celebrated. The children were given food along with sweets and balloons.
Distribu on of Diwali Faral Club – Pune South Beneficiaries : 80 President : Vinayak Deshpande Descrip on : Our club distributed Diwali Faral and grocery to 10 families suffering from AIDS. This was organised by Rtn. Shrikant Dhole, Ann Kanchan and Rtn. Anand Badamikar.
Diwali Celebra on Club – Pune Kalyani Nagar Beneficiaries : 170 President : Sejal Mehta Descrip on : A wonderful way to celebrate Diwali with slum kids. A team of 5 doctors (pediatricians) diagnosed kids and gave them free medica on. We distributed chocolates, snacks and sweet to the children and spent some me with them.

Club – Pune Horizon Beneficiaries : 45 President : Rajendra Harale Descrip on : We arranged a drawaing and pain ng compe on for the kids at Lunkad School for Ga mand, Hadapsar, Pune. We distributed drawing material to the kids and helped them draw and paint. We enjoyed a lot with these kids. We spent nearly three hours with them. We distributed Diwali sweets to these children,and felicitated the teachers from the school.

Club – Poona Mid-town Beneficiaries : 90 President : Subodh Gulavani Descrip on : We conducted Diwali Pahat : A musical programme for senior residents of Matoshri Old Age Home on Sinhgad Road. We have been conduc ng this kind of programme for the last 5 years for them. This programme started in the morning and ended with breakfast and Diwali Pharal . Prof. Kumavat and his group presented Hindi and Marathi songs. Around 90 senior ci zens enjoyed the programme.
Club – RC Bhigwan Beneficiaries : 1400 President : Sanjay Chaudhary Descrip on : All our club members decided to help the Adiwasis celebrate Diwali. We all collected our personal contribu on and arranged sweets for the Adiwasis staying in the village Ahupe, Ambegaon.
Bhaubeej Programme Club – Poona Mid-town Beneficiaries : 18 President : Subodh Gulavani Non-Rotary Partner : Sainik Mitra Pariwar Descrip on : We conducted a Bhaubij programme for 18 widows of Shahid Soldiers. It was conducted in associa on with Sainik Mitra Pariwar. It is our ongoing project for the last 8 years. We presented them a saree. Brig. Hemant Mahajan was the Chief Guest. Rtn. Sheetaltai, Rtn. Madhuri, Rtn. Minal, Rtn. Shubhada and Ann Ara contributed for same.
Na onal Conference on Social Innova ons Club – Pune Up Town Beneficiaries : 1000 President : Vijay Khamitkar Descrip on : The Na onal Conference on Social Innova ons was an eye-opener for every Rotarian to see what new innova ons are possible to get more from less for more people. 21 innovators presented their innova ons, each an excellent idea for the underdeveloped breathing new oxygen into the realm of progress. Vice President of India inaugurated the conference. The other dignitaries were the Governor of Maharashtra and the Palak Mantri of Pune. The highlight of the conference was the Anjani Mashelkar Award presenta on for the best innova on of the year, which went to the person who devised an ECG machine which can be operated using a smart phone.
Construc on of Toilets Club – RC Panvel Beneficiaries : 700 President : Abhinay Jogi Descrip on : We constructed separate toilets for men and women at " Towerwadi " a tribal village , where they don't have a single toilet. The project was inaugurated by MLA Prashant Thakur.
Eye Check-up Club – Pune Deccan Gymkhana Beneficiaries : 284 President : Sharad Disale Descrip on : An eye check-up camp for diabe c pa ents was arranged at Sutardara Kothrud Pune. This camp was inaugurated by Pune Municipal Corporator Mr. Pruthviraj Sutar.
Industrial Visit Club – RC Pen Beneficiaries : 100 President : Mitesh Shah Non-Rotary Partner : 5 Descrip on : We visited PP. Rtn Deepak Shah’s rice mill in Chinchpada, Pen. We learned how rice was husked.
Distribu on of Ergonomics Literature Club – Poona Up-town Beneficiaries : 100 President : Vijay Khamitkar Descrip on : Distribu on of ergonomics literature for old age homes. The literature contained guidelines such as si ng straight so that the back would not hurt, or ge ng up from bed without ge ng cramps, or li ing something from the ground without ge ng a catch.
Self-defence Training for Women Club – Kharghar Midtown Beneficiaries : 68 President : Sunil Bha a Descrip on : Free 'Self Defence Training for Women' was organized in associa on with Rtn. Subhash Pa l - Interna onal Coach and Referee in Taekwondo. MLA Prashant Thakur was chief guest and as such had good PR including coverage in local TV network.

Club – Deccan Gymkhana Beneficiaries : 350 President : Sharad Disale Descrip on : A Road Safety Camp was hosted by Saraswa Vidya Mandir at our Interact School, Karve Nagar, Pune. 300 Students par cipated in the camp. MLA Medha Kulkarni gave away the prizes to the winners.
Club – Pune Tilak Road Beneficiaries : 60 President : Charuda a Bhave Descrip on : An eye check-up camp was organised and pa ents for cataract surgery were detected. The pa ents are poor and needy. 60 pa ents from Bibwewadi area were examined at Chandralok Hospital with the help of DR. Mr & Mrs. Vaidya. Three pa ents were found fit for cataract surgery. They were informed about Sarpotdar Hospital, for surgery.
Wash Basin for School Children Club – New Panvel Beneficiaries : 300 President : Rajeevan V Descrip on : Wash Basins were installed at Kids Garden Na onal Public School. This will benefit all the 300 children studying there. These are installed in the toilet block.
Health Check-up Camp Club – Pune Tilak Road Beneficiaries : 80 President : Charuda a Bhave Descrip on : Hypertension, Diabetes and Lipid Profile Detec on Camp was organized at Dr. Biniwale Clinic. About 80 pa ents were examined and necessary treatment was suggested.
Voca onal Courses Club – R C Poona Beneficiaries : 100 President : Tribhuwan Magon Non Rotary Partner : Jan Shikshan Sanstha Descrip on : A voca onal course in bakery, so -toy-making and rexin-bag-making was held at Girls’ Observa on Home, Nana Peth, Pune
Orthopaedic Check-up Club – Pune Uptown Beneficiaries : 5000 President : Vijay Khamitkar Non Rotary Partner : Orthopedic Associa on of Pune Sakal Newspapers Descrip on : A seminar was arranged in associa on with Orthopedic Associa on of Pune and Sakal Newspapers. 16 prominent orthopedic surgeons gave excellent presenta ons on diseases of the different parts of the human skeleton and preven on of these. It was an eye-opener. Leaflets were distributed on various ailments of the neck, shoulder, back , knee, spine, wrist etc.
Dona on of Benches Club – New Panvel Beneficiaries : 500 President : Rajeevan V Descrip on : On 8th November 2015 we installed two concrete chairs at Khandeshwar Lake Garden. The club donated two concrete chairs to be installed at Khandeshwar Lake. This was a joint programme with Alert Ci zens’ Group, Morning Yoga Group and SPSC . Our Rotarians are also ac ve members of this social group. Rtn V ishram Ekambe as project chairman did excellent ground work for this project.

Announcement of arranging a medical check-up camp and a night school for workers and their families who are working on construc on sites was made during s occasion.
Club – Pune Wisdom Beneficiaries : 278 President : Deepa Gandre Non Rotary Partner : Team of Tanishq Bachat Gat Descrip on : A health check-up of women in the slum area near Kothrud was organised by expert doctors. They concentrated on gynaecology, ENT, ophthalmology, physiotherapy, joint pain & general check-up. Medicines were distributed free of cost.

Club – Pune Sahawas Beneficiaries : 115 President : Sunil Pa l Descrip on : Cultural rela onship & Celebra on of Diwali fes val with the members of Vriddhasram between 5.30pm-6.30pm on 7th November, 2015. We celebrated Diwali at Mathoshree Vrudhhasram, Karvenagar, Pune. We hung lanterns, lighted lamps, drew rangoli's and spent me with the members enjoying chan ng and games. Our Rotarians performed cultural programs like songs, bhajans, speeches, etc. Our Club Bulle n Maitra was published by Rtn. Milind Pandit’s mother. We also distributed sweets on this occasion.
Club – Pune Katraj Beneficiaries : 775 President : Suvarna Kutwal Descrip on : Suryodaya Paradhi and Adivasi Ashrams near Khamgaon have adopted students from the Paradhi tribe and some other students from the tribal areas around the district of Buldhana and provided them with free educa on and shelter. Rotary Club of Pune Katraj along with Amanora decided to help this school by providing 12 computers with RDEP so ware. This RDEP kit, which is an educa onal aid, will help the 775 students study be er.

Diwali with HIV-Posi ve Children Club – Poona West Beneficiaries : 600 President : Vandana Khandekar Descrip on : Food and Diwali sweets along with groceries were given to HIV-posi ve children and their families.
Dona on of Dialysis Machine Club – Pune Sports City Beneficiaries : 1000 President : Madhav Kankawale Descrip on : Our club donated 2 dialysis machines were to Medipoint Hospital, and 2 more dialysis machines to Tarachand Hospital as Global Grant Project.
Dental and Medical Check-up Club – R C Khopoli Beneficiaries : 180 President : Niraj Jadhav Descrip on : A medical and dental check up was organised for the students of V D M School, and Interact students.
Nursing Training Club – Poona Down Town Beneficiaries : 21 President : Supriya Banerjea Descrip on : We were able to get six students out of a total of 21 who are being trained in this profession at the School. Originally we were hoping to train a few girls for a Nurses Bureau course because it is a good professional course. But then we also realised that the fees for that course is very high and as a via media we focussed on the much more affordable pa ent care a endant course. The other major considera on was that the girls will learn the bedside skills of pa ent care which does not need a high educa onal qualifica on. The faculty for this course includes Matron Pillay who has recently re red a er 35 years of service from Ruby Hall Clinic. For this course we have sponsored girls from Darode Mala was of Koregaon Park, mainly because some of us are known to the people living there, so ge ng girl students was not very difficuit. The course is in Marathi with a total dura on of six months (3 for theory and 3 for hands-on training). The host Ins tute has already iden fied a few hospitals for prac cal experience. The course has already started on 15 October 2015. We visited the Anjuman-iIslam Ins tute and handed over our sponsorship cheque to the Principal at a brief ceremony. The Immediate Past First Lady of our District ann Chandra Aranha graced the occasion. Club – Pune Hillside Beneficiaries : 15000 President : Rajendra Mhetre Descrip on : This is our ongoing project. Diwali is a big fes val in India and hence we take this opportunity to carry out our P.R. project. We distribute gree ng cards based on traffic awareness to the people. A great caricaturist Mr. Mangesh Tendulkar creates these cartoons for us. On one side we print cartoons and on the other side the Rotary wheel and club informa on. This year we distributed 4000 such gree ng cards.

Eye Check-up Club – Talegaon MIDC Beneficiaries : 12 President : Da atray Pawar Non Rotary Partner : Dr. Anil Unkule, Dr. Paras Shaha, Dr. Ni n Bhalerao, Dr. Lalit Shaha, Dr. Sunayana Bafana. Descrip on : We organised a camp to detect squint-eyes at Dr. Unkule Hospital, Talegaon Dabhade, and 12 pa ents were taken out for opera ons at Sane Guruji Hospital, Hadapsor on 18th Dec. to 20th Dec. 2015, with the help of Rotary Club of Pune Sarasbag, Netra Seva Pra sthan, Pune, and Nima Sanghatana, Talegaon Dabhade.
Beneficiaries : 100 President : KIRAN SATARKAR Descrip on : Our club with Warje club arranged joint project of exhibi on and sale of ar cles prepared by dumb and deaf on 04/11/2015. This exhibi on was arranged on 4th November at Kirloskar Cummins Union Hall, in Dahanukar Colony, Kothrud, Pune. The project was jointly carried out with the help of N.G.O. ‘Sadh’. The inaugura on of the exhibi on with the hands of Dr. Avinash Wachasudar and Dr. Prafull Tamaskar. Mr. Chaugule and Mr. Balwadkar on behalf of Kirloskar Cummins Union were present. There were 30 stalls of dumb and deaf children. The exhibi on was open on 9.30 am to 8.30 pm. Our club and warje club made adver sement of this exhibi on through pu ng pamphlets in news paper, by electronic media, by pu ng banners.
