are thrilled with the idea of collecting USD 26.5 from each member & winning a certification as 'John Germ Club'. But remember, this scheme is only for the clubs below the membership of 25 and who have not donated anything till now to TRF. The goals for each club this year is minimum USD 180 from each member.

Many clubs & some noted Rotarians have contributed a part of their promised share to APF. They are RC New Panvel, RCP Lokmanya Nagar, RCP Ganeshkhind, RCP East, RCP South East, RC Manchar & RC Shivneri-Junnar. We appreciate their zeal and are sure that they will go still higher than this. We have noticed that many clubs

It was pointed out by the Rotary South Asia office, that around 36 clubs have not contributed anything for the Foundation. We are happy to announce that all these clubs will be paying a good amount of contribution, this year. When we communicated with these clubs, 80 percent clubs are ready to become 'Full Paul Harris Club' and will aspire for

the much coveted banner. The District Foundation committee appeals to all the presidents, that if any of you wish to make your Club as 'The Centennial Year Paul Harris Club', we have many ideas and schemes to discuss with you. We request you to arrange a meeting with the TRF Committee to work out the plan. The last thing we would like to call for is to submit 3 out of 5 goals for the Foundation on Rotary.org website. Wishing you a happy Ganeshotsav & praying the Lord Ganpati for the successful Centennial Foundation Year for all of us. - Rtn. Dr. Avinash Bhondwe Director, Foundation Promotion RY 2016-17

M E M B E R S H I P MOHEEM : MISSION MEMBERSHIP Dear Rotarians, almost all clubs have added good number of members during installation function. Major growth has come from rural and semi rural clubs . Zone 1 and zone 3 have added substantial members. This year clubs have adopted novel ideas to add resourceful members. Different clubs have different strategies and procedures to add new members. I request all sweet sixteen leaders to follow their normal club practices. This will help them to retain good members. After addition, our focus will be on Retention. Our retention team led by Rtn Shantanu along-with Rtn Shrikant Gogate have plans to conduct Zonal membership orientation seminars. This will help clubs to part good Rotary knowledge. Team will also guide clubs on how to involve and engage new members in various club activities. Membership retention is also equally critical focus area and our orientation team has excellent plans to support clubs on retention.. I request all clubs to take advantage of this committee. In addition to this if you have any specific training needs please communicate to the team. Dist. team will be eager to address such needs. As far as membership number is concerned I am happy to announce that, we have added 500 members in our Dist. Most of our clubs have added members but not uploaded on RI website for various reasons. I am confident that it will be done very soon. During

zonal membership

meeting of zone 4, RI Project Lead (Regional Membership Plan) Rtn. Bharat Pandya has set a target as 40 members for urban and semi urban clubs and 30 members for rural clubs. DIST 3131 has 24 clubs which have membership less than or equal to 22 members, and 45 clubs have membership less than 30 members. We need to work on all these clubs and increase the membership as per RI norms. Membership is RIs highest internal organizational priority. The minimum target set is 20%

Pune

growth. Clubs should improve gender and age diversity by 2% as a part of membership plan.. We have celebrated August Awards on 24th of August dedicated to membership. Lot of clubs have added more than 20% members. Our team and Dist. is really thankful to all such clubs. Today we honoring 24 clubs for their excellent performance. We are also honoring new clubs. H A P P Y Dear Rotarians, We, as Rotarians have been known throughout the world for the various humanitarian activities that we carry out through our projects. We have identified specific causes to target to maximize our local and global impact. At the same time, we understand that each community has its own unique needs and concerns. From this understanding, we have chosen the RCC project of “Happy Village” after the successful edition of “Happy School” last year. Looking at the setup of our c o u n t r y, m a j o r i t y o f o u r population lives in the villages. Being a strong community that we are, it lies within our capabilities to help the rural areas. As vision of Rotary states, through our network of resources and partners, we help clubs focus

their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies. And all these objectives and many more are being taken care of through the “Happy Village” project. I would like to appeal to all Rotarians to encourage their clubs to set up an RCC in the rural areas. Our impact starts with our members people who work tirelessly with their clubs to solve some of our communities' toughest challenges. Their efforts are supported by Rotary International, our member association, and The Rotary Foundation, which turns generous

V I L L A G E donations into grants that fund the work of our members and partners around the world. Rotary is led by our members' responsible leaders who help to carry f o r w a r d o u r organization's mission and values in their elected roles. Most of us have some or the other link towards the villages for family ties, professional ties, business interests and some of us for our farm houses. Why not reach to the needy through these links? With the help of these links we can set up the RCC where projects under all domains can also be carried out. For any help required the R.I. District and its dedicated committee stands behind you. RC Nigdi-Pune to execute Mega Eye Project in Ethiopia DG Prashant & First Lady Padmaja invited by Govt. of Ethiopia Ethiopia is a country in East Africa having a population of 90 million people, and is believed to have one of the highest rates of blindness and low vision. Recent data suggests that over 4 million people suffer from avoidable blindness and low vision. Of these more than half are curable cataract conditions but are blind because of non-availability of surgeons & surgical facilities, especially in rural areas. The Ministry of Health, Government of Ethiopia along with several NGO's are working in various parts of the country on blindness prevention and control program focusing mainly on cataract surgery through trachoma control through the SAFE strategy (surgery, antibiotics, facial cleanliness, and environmental improvement)

V O C AT I O N A L S E R V I C E Is there any specific Definition to Vocational service?? I guess NO....the object of the same is what you do Whole heartedly....Collectively....which benefits the society & your Own Growth. As a Rotarian, how can you put these ideals into action? Consider these suggestions: * Talk about your vocation in your club, and take time to learn about fellow members vocations. * Use your professional skills to serve a community. * Practice your profession with integrity, and inspire others to behave ethically through your own words and actions. * Help a young person achieve his or her career aspirations. * Guide and encourage others in their professional development.

If you do any of these things, you are performing vocational service. And if vocational service motivates and energizes you, then you're in the right place, because vocational service is the very essence of Rotary. It is what sets Rotary apart from other service organizations. Classification: In all likelihood, someone identified you as a prospective Rotarian because you are a respected member of your business or professional field- in Rotary parlance, your “classification.” Each Rotary club's membership represents a cross-section of its community's business and professional population, which ensures diversity in experiences and

perspectives. Classification and vocational service go hand in hand. Just as Rotarians represent their vocations in Rotary, so do they represent Rotary in their vocations. Integrity and ethics : Promoting integrity through ethical behaviour is an essential part of what it means to be a R o t a r i a n . Tw o s t a n d a r d s developed by Rotarians-The Four-Way Test and the Rotary Code of Conduct-provide a road map for ethical behaviour in the workplace and other areas of life. The Four-Way Test : Of the things we think, say or do: 1) Is it the TRUTH? 2) Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3) Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4) Will it be BENEFICIAL to all Concerned? Rotary Code of Conduct : The Rotary Code of Conduct (formerly known as the Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and Professions) provides a framework for ethical behaviour that all Rotarians can use, together with the Four-Way Test, in their business and professional activities Rotary. - Rtn. R O TA R Y “Serving Humanity” is our motto at Rotary Club. Our Rotary Club foundation depends on a strong & thriving Rotary membership. It is, after all, our members who provide generous support that enables our foundation to tackle some of the world's most pressing problems. For the prestige the name of the club has and for providing a proper platform where all the club activities can be governed, we are proposing a “Rotary Centre” at Warje, Pune. The Rotary Centre will be a modern workspace. The site for this centre is located in 'Shreeram Co-operative Housing Society, Warje, Pune'. The proposed site is about 2788 Sqm, in which we are proposing the Rotary Centre of built-up area of about 538 Sqm and the remaining is landscape area with a separate children's play area. The Rotary Centre is a stilt + two storied structure with road on all

four sides of the site. The stilt floor has a badminton court (area 148.75 Sqm), society office (area 10.05 Sqm) and parking for the centre along with a grand entry from the main road. From the main road, we have the entrance that leads us to the lobby/waiting area of about 26.88 Sqm. A lift for six people has been provided right from the parking till second floor of the centre for the convenience of Rotary members. From the lobby on the first floor we have a conference room for 15 people and area about 2 3 . 7 6 S q m . We a l s o h a v e provided three cabins for various designations and of which one has an attached toilet. A pantry (area 3.91 Sqm) is also provided to provide refreshment for the guest and the members of the Centre. A separate washroom for both gents & ladies has been provided on the first floor. On the second floor we have provided two halls of which Hall

1 has an area of about 31.62 Sqm and Hall 2 has an area about 41.69 Sqm. We are going to use collapsible partitions as separators, so that we can combine the two halls and get a huge space if required, at the midlanding level of the staircase at second floor; we have provided a terrace that can be used as a Breather space which can also be used during a tea break. We are looking for enthusiastic participation to support building

this iconic centre helping us make a real difference. We need talented people into our ranks and engage them in our foundation's vital role like this “Rotary Centre” to create a better world. Rtn. Vinay Tambe DirectorSpecial Projects RY 2016-17
