The summer term is always very busy in schools and this year has been no exception. We have recently held our Sports Day. Each child is in one of three houses: Cosmic, Galactic and Astral and the children took part in sports day dressed in their house colours. All the staff at school would like to say a big ‘well done’ to all of the children, who really got into the spirit of the games, cheering each other on as well as hoping to be in the winning house. However, it would not have been a sports day without a rain delay or two and this year was no different! We are making exciting transformations in our school buildings slowly so that the children can fully appreciate the message and intention behind each change. For instance, we want our children to say that they enjoy reading for pleasure and, therefore, this was the focus of our latest corridor transformation. We have carefully selected a book for each month which the children can enjoy either by themselves or with a parent or carer. We

hope the artwork on the walls will help the children realise that they can read anywhere and that becoming engrossed in a book that they really enjoy is a truly magical experience. As the school year ticks by, all staff look on in wonderment at the children in their class and the developments they have made. Staff are excited to see the children flourish, but at the same time sad to see them move into another year. This is even harder in Year 6 as the children will be leaving to start secondary school. However, this year, the staff and children said their goodbyes with a bang, on their Extravaganza Day! They celebrated the closure of this chapter with a BBQ, a field of inflatables, year group photos and the obligatory shirt signing. All staff at Hampton Vale would like to say a big ‘well done’ and ‘thank you’ to all of the children for their hard work and we wish them all the best as they continue their learning journey we are very proud of you!
