The Natchez Trace Parkway is a restricted-access road with no commercial traffic built by the U.S. Park Service in the 1930s to honor this historic trail and road. The Trace is famous as an outstanding cycling route and for the iconic Southern scenery and architecture you see along the way. ITINERARY
Meet near Jackson, MS, and head out on the smooth roadway of the Natchez Trace. See museums and Civil War sites, including General Grant’s headquarters. Visit noteworthy locations such as the boundary between the Choctaw tribe and three different nations ... and the Emerald Mound — the second largest Indian mound site in the U.S.
See stately plantations and mansion houses and have a guided tour of Natchez that’s full of colorful local insights and provides details on the struggle against slavery in the Old South.
Work your way north ... stopping to appreciate the stately cypress trees and ancient oaks draped with Spanish moss. Stay in a restored 1850s plantation house with 40 acres of gardens and grounds.
Spend the final two nights at a boutique hotel in Jackson built in 1908. Make great memories with us on the Natchez Trace.
