PENNSYLVANIA GREAT ALLEGHENY PASSAGE

The GAP Trail is on the bucket list of many cyclists who enjoy trails. Its spectacular views and peaceful surroundings will thrill you. The wide, crushed-gravel trail follows a gentle railroad grade the full distance. This tour includes a bonus excursion to the Flight 93 Memorial, which honors those lost on 9/11. Plus, you visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.

Start in Pittsburgh with a shuttle to the southern end of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail. Stop along the way for lunch and a visit to marvel at Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous house, Fallingwater. Then warm up your legs with a short ride near Cumberland, MD.

Continue north on the trail enjoying eye-catching vistas, river crossings and tunnels. Visit historic Meyersdale and check out railroad exhibits.

Take a break from riding and visit the Flight 93 National Memorial, a moving tribute to those lost on 9/11.

Enjoy the stunning scenery along the Ohiopyle River, dramatic bridges, small towns, and rural farmland. And stay at a variety of comfortable inns along the way chosen for their easy access to the trail.

End the ride with a triumphant finish in downtown Pittsburgh at the terminus of the GAP Trail.
