The 32,941 hectare Kaptagat landscape is part of the Elgeyo Hills Cherangany Ecosystem and is an important carbon sink, water tower and livelihood source for local communities. The landscape is home to eight different communities that rely on the region for water, wood based goods and agriculture, while also supporting the area’s rich biodiversity. It’s also home to a world renowned, high altitude training camp for elite athletes. But this special place is under threat. Unsustainable use of forest products, overgrazing and charcoal production, inadequate regulation and inadequate alternative means of livelihood, mean forest cover and grassland areas are declining at an alarming rate The uniqueness of the ecosystem has seen WWF Kenya through the UK Pact and Trillion trees and WWF UK donate over Ksh 8 9 million to the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation to facilitate the fencing of 50.8 hectares of forest as well as restoration of the adopted forest. The team has been working with Eliud Kipchoge Olympic marathon champion, world record holder, and one of Kenya’s most celebrated runners who trains in Kaptagat to raise the profile of the issues facing the region in a bid to restoring a degraded Kenyan landscape for people, nature and elite athletes

Pairing wine and chocolate can be kind of challenging The wrong pairing can actually taste pretty gross! As a general rule, your wine should be sweeter than your chocolate. Chocolates have different levels of sweetness, cacao, and intensity so when pairing it ensure you match the intensity of the wine to that of the chocolate (pair lighter chocolates with lighter wines, and vice versa). chocolate varieties, like milk chocolate, call for a wine that's quite sweet And an intense, dark chocolate that isn't very sweet can be paired with a drier wine, the Rutini cabernet sauvignon gives a classic pairing with dark chocolate truly match made of now look to chocolate and wine as forms of indulgence and escape.

What To Pack For Picnic Brunch?
The key to a successful brunch is a little bit of planning and creativity The best part about planning what to bring for a brunch is that it can be as simple or as extravagant as you wish The idea is to start with preparation. The trick is to get yourself out of the kitchen and into the action as much as possible To that end, pre prep as much of your brunch as you possibly can Choose what to buy and what you can whip up in advance
The key is to pack light and to know how to pack If you have a lot to take (cameras, plates, props, blankets) I suggest you buy one of the picnic baskets that come with accessories that way you can fit your food (and maybe your blanket) in there and have another wicker bag for everything else you need (trays, cameras, props, etc) Reusable containers make it easy to pack, store, and clean up Food safety should also be front of mind Some dishes might be okay to pack in a basket while others will require refrigeration and should be stored in a cooler or with ice packs to prevent the food from spoiling
PACKING
There is a plethora of options to go with when options are kept open When going for baking options, cinnamon rolls, French Toasts, Banana Bread, Best Carrot Cake, Vegan French Toast, Mini muffins or scones, mini bagel with cream cheese, Croissants, Baked Oatmeal with Blueberries and Muffins are a perfect option. Quick fix dishes like your favorite Banana Pancakes, Chicken Sandwich, Cucumber Sandwiches or a tuna melt is a viable way to go with
Don’t forget the drinks! It’s important to stay hydrated while out in airy space. Beat the heat with frozen water bottles or juice boxes that can gradually melt throughout your outing. If you’re bringing a bottle of wine or a little bubbly for the squad don’t forget a corkscrew
If you are a salad admirer a chicken Salad Sandwich or Egg Salad Sandwich will carry the day. You can go a healthier way with fruits placed on skewers or a Various food jars of yogurt, granola, and fruit parfaits DRINKS
How dreamy does a picnic brunch at the beach with your besties sound? Showing up for brunch is easy. What to bring for the brunch, now that's a hardy thing for many. Attending a brunch should be more fun with less fuss, when you get it right on what to pack for the killer brunch

It is in that ritzy school that I met both Joyce and Rahab. They were these ‘spoilt’ kids living the life Our friendship was not that good but I was just trying to get into their company that I never got to fit in Whenever we went out to functions, they had their own clique. Pimped cars, hottest boyfriends and definitely the most fashionable student in our class Joyce and Rahab were undeniably the envy of the school. Good genes and money. I could watch them as they could engage in all kinds of things most youths engage in in their teen years Fame, money and drugs ruled their circles.

I couldn't let any of them know that I am aware of everything that is going on between the two I had to excuse myself from there and let them try to solve their own problem I took my drink at the balcony and took some chug as we talked about what they have just realized. I was sure Joyce was not ready to let the cat out of the bag about what Dickson told her at the beginning Everything was now working as i was expecting. It all started back in my high school at this international school in Karen My parents had passed on earlier that year before I joined the school; life was almost fracturing in front of my eyes. Life was on a balancing on a thin ice since there was no one to come to my aid Luckily, my aunt came to my aid My Aunt was working in the institution as a librarian I never knew this, but with her American English, now I could join the dots. Her kids had studied there. We were all jealous of them They hanged out with these whites She was willing to take over my education Although it was hard for me to fit it, I really tried It was paradise but it still felt cold to me Ever been in a good place and not feel good? For over three years, that was my life Most of us have so inauspiciously underestimated other people's past and how bad it was It becomes a deprivation that we create in our friendship when we treat each other without being just and not getting to know someone ' s past FAITH RONO narrates the horror closet full of bones. At the back of my mind, my background could not let any kind of pressure get me away from my studies If I never took my studies seriously, chances of securing a scholarship were very slim My parents had both died of the dreadful HIV Aids and that was something that I always kept a secret I remember trying to commit suicide but thanks to the counseling everything turned out positively aside from my status. But how long was I going to endure such a kind of life? I have always been a bright student all through my school years This one thing got me few friends in here I could help them in assignments, and occasionally some exam. I had to do this, to be considered in their team. Am not sure if they knew what kind of a torture they were both getting me through They manipulated me most times I could do most of which they asked me to do in order to fit in with their clique of friends. My aunt couldn’t give me enough pocket money and that’s where they came in handy Aside that, they only flaunted their life out and never empathized with me I can't blame them I blame myself for always acting strong and comfortable with my situation I remember the multiply nights I cried myself to sleep after being ditched with them This made me feel bad We completed our main exams; I passed and luckily secured a place in a university nearby. The scholarship that I had applied for went through and I got a lot of support Both Joyce and Rahab passed but they were on campus on a self sponsored student’s programme That is where we met again with the two ladies, 3 months later. As I was taking my drinks from the balcony, it felt like the two ladies had come to an agreement on something At the beginning, things never seem to end up so good. It's like they realized it was not their mistake for getting themselves engaged with the same dude

Wow! Ezra exclaimed as he gazed at me He was boiling His blood shot eyes could pierce a living soul I felt as though I could interject the silence with an explanation "So, you did not even go back to your place? Did you! You came back for her, my girl of all people?” Ezra stormed to his room as Abel went in with him I stayed rooted wandering whether to own it up or just to come up with a cock story "Naya!”
Chapter III
Ezra tried calling Naya but it seemed she was too busy or deep in thoughts He was probably alerting her that her phone just rang. I woke up and went to the wash room. The washroom was positioned in a way that you could see the bedroom if it was half opened. As I was heading to the washroom, I could notice Naya crying and hugging her pillow I went back and pretended that I saw nothing How could I tell Ezra that his girl was crying in the bedroom? After some few minutes, a text popped on her screen. Ezra decided to chirp and get to see who just texted. I was one of those people who last texted with Naya. Ezra was curious to see what we were texting with Naya On my end, I had already deleted the texts I knew if Ezra could ever get to see that it could be the very end of our friendship.

ballantines ea I knew not everything was going to end up well I was wondering what I could explain to my friends Ezra and Abel Their team seemed to have lost the match And I was there with his girlfriend inside their house. As their steps and voice were getting louder as they were approaching, I had few seconds to think of what I was going to tell the two lads "You always keep time man! That's why we like you But some people here would have taken forever!" He said it jokingly as he was looking at Naya Naya replied, "Babe don't start!". These were Ezra's first words as he was getting in his house. I knew I had escaped scrutinizingly Naya and I looked at each other smiling unabashedly Unknowingly of their where about, Ezra decided we have some Ballantines shots before we could go out and start the party The two football fanatics seemed disappointed having lost "Haha is that why you came early?" Naya said this acting all angelic and concerned She went straight to their bedroom to get things ready before we could get off I guess. Naya's phone was just on the table. We were all concentrated on the game blitz of the concluded match This definitely didn’t seat well with them so we decided to switch off the Tv and get on with our man talk Abel jokingly started by asking me if I went to my place and returned to his. That sounded weird. I staggered before I could answer. The guilt of going back to Ezra's place was burying me up So I brushed it off with a simple yes Suddenly, Naya's phone rang Before anyone could pick it up, it went unanswered so we continued with our chit chat as we imbibed the fine whiskey.
Ezra’s voice roared the room Tbc
We might be having a good heart and good intentions but things sometimes take unexpected turn A friendship bond is as strong the character of the two parties and there are few things that destroy friendship and might cost us a lot. Grab your Ballantine’s Whisky as DANIEL NDIWA narrates the drama
As I was heading to the washroom, I could notice Naya crying and hugging her pillow I went back and pretended that I saw nothing

A couple of cocktails in and I was already vibing with this Marto guy that had joined my table I was itching to tell Hanna about it but she didn’t pick up Two more tries, the phone still went unanswered; I assumed they were having the talk The night was growing old, and by now the club was full to the brim Desperate socialites were busy grinding their wababaz and thirsty boys doing their best to get a hook up Marto was busy matching his pick up lines with cocktail rounds. I was getting tipsy and as though Ivy couldn’t notice, she kept bringing round after round “Bbes huyu ako poa sana, ” she kept whispering on every round she served. The tips were good. I really wanted to run the gossip by my siz, but on several attempts her phone was off I was uneasy, not knowing what to comprehend of the situation. Maybe I’m overthinking… I convinced myself as the night grew better with the charming Marto dude TBC Hanna seemed to be a little bewildered with the message Fixed on a crossroad of whether Jeff was actually meant it or it was one of his many gimmicks I honestly don’t understand how girls falling head over heels on white lies, in the name of love
runvhtime “I know, I have been a piece of sh*t of late ” read the other part of the text This was just but the beginning of a lengthy apology It then concluded with a plea for Hanna to come over to his place so that they could talk about it, with purpose to help her through this difficult time Jeff had always been this classic ‘smooth operator’ A fashionable sweet talker, abiding within the high social circles He was popular with women and not a stranger to giving them the fast life they craved for It was clear that he didn’t hold sincere affection for these women, and as described by my sister, "His heart is cold, but pockets very warm " I recall the first night they met, years after high school, in Hurlighum He had changed He ticked all the boxes, any babygurl could thirst for Young, loaded and handsome. Any girl would easily fall to prey. Unfortunately my sister was the first one to fall for his bait That night we crushed at his apartment, he really gave us a night to remember. Booze and other synthetic drug like MDMA were on continuous flow Apart from the frequent calls he received through the night, everything else seemed on point. Despite all the glamour, it looked too good to be true In one scene, he displays a wash wash jamaa, and in others, he appeared to be a pimp I could tell this is someone who had succeeded in evading law enforcement, or one who was paying them to have him under state protection Women you run to their Ex’s arms are NOT a pathetic, miserable lot What they are is humans falling prey to silly jealousy which happens to the best of us, so don't feel bad and all you need is a little perspective Peris narrates the turn around She was already considering the reconciliation vibe so I asked her to trust her instincts. “You’ve received Ksh. 4,000” read the Mpesa message as her phone vibrated “You see, this guy really means it, he even sent cab money ” she smiled with a spark in her eyes. A quick hug and off she left. I was left there imbibing the bloom gin cocktails as I watched her shadow vanish through the crowded gate Maybe Jeff was manning up to it. As soon as she got to Jeff's place, she alerted me She further promised she would be on her best behaviour and I should worry less about her Part of me did trust Jeff this time round, but his house is a junkie’s haven and with his piercing tongue he would easily lure my sister into anything She seemed to have shirked everything that Jeff had done to her B*itch was drowning in love She was hoping maybe Jeff would change his mind about the unborn baby

Vitamin C has other effects beyond the immune boosting powers most attributed to it Discounting testosterone raising effects in humans which help build more muscle, it also has many functions within your body which go hand in hand with post exercise recovery Our health nut, IVYMULUKA, gives advice on benefits of vitamin C for better work out recovery.
Staying fit is as crucial as the heart pumping blood throughout the body and the brain functioning to maintain balance in our body. Being fit is the least we can do and exercising serves as the perfect escape to stay fit Staying fit is the best Preventive care one can undertake to stay away at a safe distance from them. Vitamin C can benefit athletes and exercise enthusiasts since their training cause collective tissue damage As an antioxidant, Vitamin C could help reverse the oxidative caused by free radicals, which are by products of chemical reactions, injury and stress within your body as well as external pollutants such as smoke and alcohol Free radicals cause oxidative damage within the body, which are thought to increase the rate of ageing and increase the risk of disease Exercise itself actually causes increased oxidative stress because free radicals are made when your body converts food into energy, as well as when your muscles experience tiny micro tears due to the stress placed on them by movement The benefits of exercise outweigh the harm caused by this free radical production, but it demonstrates how important it is to have the right nutrition in place to support your exercise regime with antioxidants
Another benefit of vitamin C when you exercise is a possible reduction in muscle soreness post workout Taking vitamin C for a period of two weeks before heavy exercise significantly reduces muscle soreness. It has also shown to reduce cortisol, ‘stress hormone’ which is released during exercise, levels after heavy physical exertion vitamin C intake helps with protein metabolism, so you’ll get the most out of that post exercise protein filled meal or shake.
The antioxidant properties in Vitamin C are needed for the absorption of iron, which helps boost energy and also forms collagen, the abundant protein that builds your skin, tendons and muscles As a result, this supports your body’s muscle growth and tissue repair, which is especially important after exercise.

Sometimes an old flame didn't work out for one reason back then but would thrive now Celebs break up and make up all the time (looking at you, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, or Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thomson). Despite a series of flings since the breakup, it was clear Maggie was still not over Kim Was it crazy to try weaving the love together? Maybe Not Love always wins and getting the back together is one task the boys were willing to take a bullet for.
5 6 O N T H E C O U N T E R
First thing's first: remember that there was a reason why you broke up It's easy to get relationship amnesia after a series of unsuccessful romantic entanglements Sometimes failed dates or hook ups can leave us sorting through our history and idealizing old, familiar partners, as DANIEL NDHIWA narrates
5 7 . O N T H E C O U N T E R
The relationship fix journey, especially if it was a contentious breakup, begins with reconciliation Sometimes when a relationship dissolves, it's because of a slow erosion that occurs in the connection and interactions between the two parties. Other times more frequently there is a precipitating event One person betrays another, words are said that are so painful that there's no turning back, addictions affect your joint life, one partner fails to show up to support the other person, the list goes on Whether you were on the giving or receiving end of the behavior that ultimately terminated the relationship, to move forward, you need to make amends When it comes to making amends, I have read and experienced a lot I always advised the boys that remorse, responsibility, recognition and remedy have to be considered I call it the four R's of The Relationship Fix Maggie seemed ready to forget the there was a reason why they broke up. Everyone on the table was now eager to hear what Maggie had to say Maggie started admitting how her friends forced her to behave the way she did to Kim. We needed to add some more drinks as Maggie started narrating what transpired to all what happened between the two. "You see, some children are fatherless because their mothers want to prove a thing." Maggie started off with that statement. This is what I wanted to try. I had friends of all kinds and those that have been broken with men. The more I could listen to them, the more I always tried to find every reason to make Kim go through hell I have been surrounded with all kinds of ladies Both in broken marriages, single parents and also those that are married but are there just because of the society Sometimes an old flame didn't work out for one reaso back then but would thrive now. Celebs break up and make up all the time Kim has been a good father to his son. I have been trying to find faults in him. I felt like that was the only way he could prove to me that he was perfect I wasn't sure what I want in this life I realized that we can get something that other people are longing to have And since they can't get it, they get jealous of us and want us to be in the same situation with them. It us so absurd that am learning all this when it seem to be late and am not certain if it could save me Is it too late? Maggie continued We were all listening to her " I don't know if we go back together things will be okay after confessing all this. Am not sure if Kim will ever find a place in his heart to forgive me for all this And yes, am trying and I will do my best to change. But what about me? This cinfession will haunt me A good part of me wants us to co parent for some reason but another half part of me wants us to be together? What do I do? I have already shown him the worst part of me What if he is doing all this so he could have a good time to retaliate? Undecided, we tried to convince Maggie that Kim could not do such a thing to her It was hard but we had to come through for her. Maggie seem to be an over thinker We really had to be good listeners and try to understand her She was so convinced that Kim was not going to do anything bad to her as soon as they get back together Without any reticence, Maggie woke up, pulled his chair and went straight and hugged Kim The hug took quiet sometime We were now convinced that Maggie was good with getting back with Kim. This was a great time for all of us to cheers
