Beards for Bereaving Blokes
Steve Smith growing his beard for ‘Beards of Hope’ | Image: Naomi Smith | Article: Sara Drebber
In Australia, approximately 150,000 families a year are affected by the devastating loss of a baby or infant under the age of twelve months. Local Glenmore Park parents Steve and Naomi Smith know the heartbreak of losing a child all too well. In March 2014 their son, Lucas, passed away at just eighteen days old. “The night Lucas grew his wings we received a bear from the nurses, which was donated from ‘Bears of Hope’, as a comfort so we didn’t leave the hospital with empty arms”, Naomi explained to the Glenmore Gazette. The couple were so touched by this gesture at a significant time of grief in their lives that they decided to provide ongoing support to the charity, attending charity events and giving regular donations in memory of Lucas. As part of their fundraising efforts this year, Steve is growing a beard for ‘Beards of Hope’ to support other men and their families through their grief and to raise awareness of how common pregnancy and infant loss is in Australia. He would like to encourage everyone in our local community of Glenmore Park to get behind this worthwhile cause. To support Steve in raising money to assist other bereaving fathers and their families, please donate at https://beardsofhope2017.gofundraise.com.au/page/SteveSmith2. Beards of Hope also invites all men across Australia to grow a beard this beard season (1 June - 31 August) to raise funds for and awareness of ‘Bears of Hope’ Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support. New Release Of Prestige Homesites In Mulgoa Rise
Following the recent release of 17 new homesites in Mulgoa Rise, western Sydney’s premier residential community, just nine remain. Developed by Mulpha Norwest, many of the new homesites are elevated, some with views to the Blue Mountains. They range in size from 450m² to 600m², with prices from $545,000 to $675,000. Mulpha Norwest General Manager, Tim Spencer, said all the homesites in this particular release are ready to build on. “The range of lot sizes and prices will appeal to young and growing families looking to build larger homes,” he said. “This new estate offers these families a perfect opportunity to purchase a prepared block ready for building their dream home in a family-friendly community.” Mulgoa Rise will comprise more than 600 homes when complete. Nestled at the foothills of the Blue Mountains, Mulgoa Rise has its own sporting fields and parks on the estate, with golf courses, lakes and rivers located nearby. This, together with walkways connecting the estate to Mulgoa Nature Reserve, will appeal to families looking to enjoy a healthy, outdoor lifestyle. Close to the Blue Mountains and mostly bordered by national park, reserves and bushland, Mulgoa Rise will provide the

Finding A Cure For Taryn’s Epilepsy
ST CLAIR MEDICLINIC NEW MEDICAL CENTRE NOW OPEN OPEN

Local resident Taryn McCaffrey suffers from intractable epilepsy, a form of epilepsy that is not controlled by medication. The 19 year old was first diagnosed at the age of 5, six to seven months after many attempts with different medications to control her seizures, initially with Frontal Lobe Epilepsy. She is scheduled to undergo testing at the Epilepsy Centre in Cleveland, Ohio in the US and with mounting medical expenses, Taryn’s family are reaching out to the local community for their help and generosity. “Taryn has been in and out of Westmead Children’s Hospital and now Westmead Hospital. She has had numerous, extensive tests involving CT scans, MRI, EEG Telemetry, DNA testing, Genetic testing , PET scans, SPEC scans, in the hope for brain surgery. Recent tests have shown Taryn has brain damage (memory and vision memory loss) which is starting to affect her speech, as well as the epilepsy spreading to her right temporal lobe. Taryn’s last hope is to go to Cleveland for tests to pinpoint the exact location of her brain to be removed” said Tracy McCaffrey, Taryn’s mother. The tests in the US are going to cost $203,447 US (just under $300,000 AU). This does not include any further medical treatment for Taryn, should she need it, or flights and accommodation for her family. “Whilst it seems to be a lot of money, having been in hospitals, I see the equipment expertise and have a view that no amount of money can thank the hospital staff, nurses and radiologist specialists for how they help so many of us on a daily basis. What dollar value does one put on a life?” explained Tracy. The kindness from the community have already included fundraising from a luncheon at Penrith Golf Club, raffle/work BBQ from the staff at Australia Post Penrith raising just over $1,500, mufti days for Clairgate Primary School (Taryn’s old school), Goalathon for Twin Creeks Netball Club and funds from BBQ’s organised by the three BWS stores in St Clair. A Gofundme page has been set up by Taryn’s sister Delyse to assist with the medical expenses. It can be found at: https:// www.gofundme.com/send-taryn-to-america. Donations of any size will be gratefully accepted, to help Taryn with her daunting journey ahead.

FAITH – GLENMORE PARK ANGLICAN CHURCH
Article Written + Submitted by: Rev John Lavender P: 4733 1635 A: Cnr William Howell Dr + Pritchard Pl, Glenmore Park W: www.glenmoreparkanglican.com.au Service Times: Sundays @ 8.30 and 10.15am, 5 + 7pm. Plus activities for adults + young people right throughout the week.
A Pleasant Surprise One of the things that pleasantly surprises people at Glenmore Park Anglican Church (GPAC) is that what God has to say to us in the Bible continually speaks to them about exactly the sorts of things they have to think about and wrestle with every day! Freedom from anxiety. Joy. Hope for the future. Being a husband or wife. Love. Resilience. Humility. Compassion. Contentment. Dealing with fear. The big surprise for so many is that the Bible speaks helpfully about all this and more! Getting under way on Sundays in July at GPAC, we will be looking at the Apostle Peter’s first letter in the Bible. Here are just a few of the great verses from Peter’s letter that we will be thinking about, and discovering how they can make a difference to our life and to our world; “Cast all your anxiety on God because he cares for you.” “Love one another deeply, from the heart.” “Live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers and sisters, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil.” “Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.” “Husbands...be considerate as you live with your wives... treat them with respect.”
“Wives...your beauty should not come from outward adornment...instead, it should be that of the inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.” “Do not fear what they fear...But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.” “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given has new birth in a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Chris from the dead.” We would love to share all these amazing and life changing truths with everyone living in Glenmore Park and the surrounding suburbs. It would be great to see you on Sundays, or at any of our other activities during the week so you too can experience the transforming difference that knowing Jesus brings. Rev John Lavender

Surveyors Creek Public School Student Wins National Award For Being Young ‘Legend’ A Year 6 student from Surveyors Creek Public School has won a national competition that recognises school students for their achievements. The ‘LiteracyPlanet Legends’ campaign, run by digital education company LiteracyPlanet, invited teachers and parents to nominate students for being a ‘legend’ in one of three categories: community, academic and sport. LiteracyPlanet CEO, Adam McArthur says: “LiteracyPlanet Legends celebrates students’ ‘legend’ moments, big and small, inside and out of the classroom, and not only succeeding at something, but also perseverance, doing their best, contributing positively to the community, and having fun. “It recognises the synergy between physical activity, positive emotions and academic achievement, and the belief that when kids are having fun they do well,” he said. From thousands of nominations, young student Brooke Jones won the community category, earning $10,000 for her school to invest in resources, and a personal award, presented to her by Australian AFL legend and popular TV presenter, Shane Crawford. Brooke founded a fundraiser ‘Brooke’s Car Rally’ in 2013 when she was just 7-yearsold. Now an annual event, Brooke has so far raised more than $40,000 for the Nepean Cancer Care Centre and the Epilepsy Research Unit at Westmead Children’s Hospital. According to Mr McArthur, the volume of deserving nominations moved the judging panel and it was a difficult task to select winners, but Brooke was a standout in her category: “Brooke’s story is one of working hard to reach goals, achievements that are extraordinary, and making a very positive contribution to others in the community. She is indeed a young ‘legend’ and deserves to be proud”. (L-R) AFL legend and media personality Shane Crawford, Brooke Jones, LiteracyPlanet CEO Adam McArthur, and Surveyors Creek Public School Principal Kathy Browne.

Avoiding Regret in Life Recently I spent a large part of a work day at my son’s athletics carnival. It was costly workwise, but something happened following the carnival which opened my eyes to see that doing such things would help me avoid regret
NAIDOC Week Celebrations 7 July 2017 | 9.30am to 3pm NAIDOC Week will be celebrated in Penrith with a family fun day at Jamison Park
in my life. Someone asked if I had any children. A rich conversation about our families led him to say, “We had a good up-bringing because my dad worked hard and earned a good living. But I never saw him. I regret that I don’t really know him now and don’t have much of a connection with him.” He was experiencing regret, and at some point (perhaps when work is removed from the centre of his life) his dad will too. Had his dad seen the importance of time with his son this chain of regret would have been averted. This made me realise how much things like being at my son’s carnival matter, and doing things that matter help us avoid regret in life. We feel “regret” when we wish we could have the time again, or feel sorry and grieved for the loss of something because of what we did or failed to do. Things that matter help us avoid these feelings because they will never leave us with a sense of loss. People on their deathbed are never sorry for spending time with people they love or investing themselves in things which truly improve the world. They never feel that relationships with others or with God was a waste of their life. They never regret the experiences in life which brought their souls alive – like taking in a sunset over Uluru or helping someone in need. In hindsight they treasure having spent time at their child’s athletics carnival. We avoid regret in life by doing things that really matter. Beyond the obvious things, if you want to find what really matters to the human soul consider reading the teachings of Jesus in the Bible – he was a Master at making this clear. Go well in the things that matter, Paul

PARENTS CORNER
Article Written + Submitted by: Narelle Smith (Family Worker) Nepean Community + Neighbourhood Services P: 47218520 E: narelle@nepeancommunity.org.au FaceBook: Parenting in Penrith Blog: handsheartsminds.wordpress.com The root word of ‘prejudice’ is ‘judge’. ‘Pre’ means ‘before’. So, ‘prejudice’ means that we judge someone before we get to know them. When I asked the kids at school what they feel other kids judge them on, they said… "skin colour, being smart, being quiet, being chubby or skinny, being tall or short, race, clothing, religion, disability, stereotypes, mental health, special interests, appearance." That’s a lot of prejudice! And prejudice can lead to teasing, exclusion, misunderstanding, and in extreme cases, bullying. When we are busy pointing out difference, we become blind to the ways we are the same. This deprives us of the opportunity to get along with others and learn from each other. We have also been talking about the concept of fairness. Fairness is not everyone having the same. That’s actually not possible. A child who gets around in a wheelchair will always need a ramp. A child with autism or ADHD may need some learning support. They are getting something extra than everyone else in order to give them the same opportunities as other children. That’s life, and it’s a good lesson for children to learn. So, how do we get to know someone? A good conversation may include: introducing yourself; complimenting the other person on something; asking questions (in moderation); finding common interests; being a good listener; introducing other topics; ending the conversation in a friendly manner (say it was nice talking to them, suggest talking later, offer to play). It’s good to have a conversation with kids about this sort of stuff – prejudice, fairness, getting to know others. Sometimes kids are unintentionally judging or excluding other children because they are not aware of what they are doing. That causes a lot of unnecessary hurt, sadness, anger, and misunderstanding. It makes it easier to support kids to learn new skills and behaviours when you have raised their awareness of these concepts. I love teaching kids, in gentle ways, how to think beyond themselves, stretching them to think and grow and learn. It helps to make people who know better and do better. JULY BIRTHDAYS

Mamre Anglican School Is Growing A major milestone was reached at Mamre Anglican School last month with the decision made to expand to three Year 7 classes in 2018. The Kemps Creek school currently has two classes in most grades, but a significant waiting list for Year 7 has made it necessary to expand. “Mamre has a reputation for its strong sense of community and its peaceful rural learning environment,” Principal Cathie Graydon said. “Our students come from many different areas in western Sydney, with increasing numbers from Glenmore Park.” In response to increased demand, Mamre’s current direct minibus service for Glenmore Park is being replaced by a full size coach. “We are well known for our elite Football Development Program, but we are a school first and our academic program is our priority,” Mrs Graydon said. Mamre is a community of students and a dedicated team of teachers working together within a holistic learning framework, with Biblical foundations and Christian values providing the basis for learning programs, pastoral practices and the other activities of the school. “Our students represent a range of cultures, faiths and language backgrounds, and have a diversity of gifts,” Director of Teaching and Learning, Anthony Head said. “We have a particular focus on students developing effective habits of scholarship such as persistence, personal responsibility, cyber safety, time management, study skills, craftsmanship and collaboration.” Beginning high school can sometimes be a challenging experience for students. To help smooth this transition, Year 7 students will participate in a three-day orientation program, Getting Ready, in November of Year 6. In the second week of Term 1, Year 7 students will participate in a three-day outdoor education camp, Beginning the Journey, where they are supported by Year 11 students as part of a peer support program. Lightning Leon Glenmore Park Football Club has a new secret weapon this year and his name is Leon Attard. At just five years of age in only his first year of soccer for the Under 5’s Bears, Leon has amassed close to 50 goals already this year! “I love scoring goals with my team mates and having my big brother Zac on the field with me as the Game Leader. I love playing soccer with my best friends” said Leon with a smile. This season, Leon is under the watchful eye of his father Mark, who is also his Coach. With mother Heidi and brother Zac on the sidelines cheering him on, it really is a family affair. “Leon has had a ball at his feet from the moment he started walking” said father Mark. “He learnt everything from his Dad and big brother Zac and loves kicking the ball with them at any available opportunity” added mother Heidi. Leon hopes to be a professional soccer player when he grows up and would someday love to play for Real Madrid or his Dad’s favourite team, Liverpool FC.
Beat the School Holiday Winter Blues The school holidays are a great time for children to relax, connect with relatives and enjoy some freedom from their studies. It seems that parents of primary school-aged children either dread the holidays or love them. For some, the winter break is a chance to escape the daily grind and hit the ski slopes. For those who stay home, it can often be a struggle to keep children entertained whilst managing the fighting, complaints of boredom and obsession with electronic devices. Here are 5 budget-friendly suggestions to maintain your sanity and occupy your children these holidays: 1. Visit your local library and stock up on some interesting books, magazines, DVDs and CDs. Try to find some cookbooks with recipes you can cook together and audiobooks that your children can listen to on their own as a quiet time activity. 2. Invite friends or cousins over for playdates and/or sleepovers. These experiences give your children the social interaction they need and the added benefit is that although you have an extra child in your house, it somehow seems less hectic. Don’t believe me? Try and see for yourself. 3. Organising craft activities might sound like a lot of effort but you would be surprised at how engaging pipe cleaners, toilet rolls, sticky tape and boxes can really be. Set your children a specific design task or let them impress you with their imagination. 4. Go for a skate, scoot or ride to your local park to encourage your children to burn off some energy. Take snacks and a thermos of coffee and enjoy relaxing outside in the fresh winter air. 5. Be organised and involve your children in planning activities. Enjoy the opportunity to spend some quality time together and most importantly, make sure you schedule in some lazy pyjama days. Article | Sara Drebber @ www.educatered.com.au

PRE-LOVED TOY DRIVE FOR CHARITY EVENT Rondys Electrical Service are proud to announce their support in helping Second Chance Toys (a registered charity organisation), collect and donate pre-loved toys from local residents to well known charity organisations within our community. Larissa & Andrew from Rondys found their own children were growing out of toys quickly and had limited space to store them. Children can fall in and out of love quickly with their toys and we often find them buried at the back of a cupboard still in great condition with plenty of love left in them. To help share the love of toys, Rondys have now teamed up with Second Chance Toys who are both on a mission to collect and package donations from the public into new gifts. Toys will be individually wrapped with ribbon and presented to various charities working with children dealing in crisis relief, disadvantaged, fostering, trauma and more. Our aim is to ensure these children feel they are receiving a gift to help lighten their day. Items to be considered are hard plastic educational toys, bikes, scooters, helmets, balls, books, cubby house items, dolls etc. We ask you to remember to donate quality toys still in clean and good working order only. Please note, we are unable to accept toys damaged or in unfit condition together with Lego or small figurine toys for safety reasons. We have been fortunate to work closely with the Daily Break Cafe in Glenmore Park who are offering us space and equipment to hold this event on the day of the toy drive. Event Details Saturday 8th July 2017 11am - 1pm @ Daily Break Cafe, Glenmore Park For Further Information Please contact Larissa from Rondys Electrical on 0418 658 468 You can find Rondys Electrical and Second Chance Toys on Facebook for updates We look forward to meeting you on the day!

Help Provide a Safe Home For Life Uniting Burnside is looking for people who can provide a safe, nurturing home for children who are unable to remain with their families. You will be assessed and trained as foster carers to care for children in a range of options. For some being a Foster Carer means providing short term care for children whilst their families develop the parenting skills required to have their children restored to their care. In cases where children are unable to return to their birth families foster carers can be assessed as guardians, adoptive parents or long term carers to provide permanency for children. Carers can provide a safe home for life for children who have experienced trauma and help them build positive nurturing relationships with the people in their lives. You will be supported by Uniting Burnside to do this through ongoing training and casework support.
Ingredients 2 ½ Cups all-purpose flour ¾ Cup sugar ¼ Teaspoon table salt 1 Cup unsalted butter, room temperature 2 Teaspoons vanilla extract 2 Tablespoons cream cheese, at room temperature Royal Icing of any colour for decoration Method 1. Preheat oven to heat oven to 350°F/180°C. 2. In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar, salt, and mix together with a wooden spoon, until fully incorporated. 3. Add the softened butter and continue to mix until the mixture looks crumbly and slightly wet, about 1 minute longer. Add vanilla and cream cheese and mix until dough just begins to form large clumps, about 30 seconds. 4. Transfer the dough to the table and knead dough by hand until it becomes a cohesive ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. 5. Roll out the dough to ¼-inch thickness. Cut into the desired shape using cookie a cutter or a fidget spinner for the spinning part, and a water bottle cap to cut to make 2 centre circles for each cookie. 6. Take the extra dough and roll out again to ½-inch thickness. With a straw, poke out small pegs that will act as dowels for the fidget spinner cookies. 7. With the same straw poke holes in the fidget spinner cookie centres and move it around in a circle widening the hole to be larger than the diameter of the pegs that were just punched out. 8. Place all the shapes on parchment-lined baking sheet and bake until light golden brown, about 15 minutes, rotating baking sheet halfway through. 9. Cool the cookies completely. Then decorate as you like with your favourite frosting or decorations. 10. Use frosting, caramel, or royal icing as glue to attach a peg to the backside of one of the small circles, place the fidget spinner cookie base over the peg and attach the second circle cookie with more frosting. Let all the frosting dry before attempting to spin. 11. Enjoy! Source: https://www.buzzfeed.com/matthewfjohnson/make-these-fidget-spinnercookies-to-spin-and-eat-your?utm_term=.hd9KmNVL#.aq8nYW6l

Appointment Of School Partner Manager Connects Students To The Real World The appointment of a school Partnership Manager at Caroline Chisholm College Glenmore is a reflection that schools need to think differently if they are going to be able provide their students with the skills and opportunities that will prepare them for a rapidly changing world. Dianne Mills’ brief as Partnership Manager at Caroline Chisholm is to create learning and employment opportunities for students by bringing businesses, institutions and universities into partnership with this leading Catholic girls’ high school in innovative and contemporary ways. “Imagine an engineer standing alongside your science teacher as they teach you the physics of bridge design,” Ms Mills said. “Or an app developer working with your technology teacher to help you learn how to program for the iPhone. Such relationships bring real world learning into the classroom, and this is key to making learning relevant and preparing kids for life beyond school.” As well as reflecting the changing nature of learning, the appointment of a Partnerships Manager, a first of its kind for high schools, is an attempt to ensure that students leave school with the skills and attitudes employers are looking for. It is also a response to the high rates of youth unemployment and the anxiety many young people feel when facing an uncertain future. Jan Owen AM from the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) says that even when young people stay in education, they are still not gaining the skills they need to secure a job. “FYA’s research shows it’s taking an average of 4.7 years once young people finish full-time education to actually find a full-time job,” Ms Owen said. Ms Mills also works as a careers coach, helping the students to identify their own strengths and to plan for study and work beyond school. With her network of contacts in TAFEs, universities and businesses, she also puts the students into direct contact with prospective employers or training organisations. “It is important for the girls to see themselves as connected to a real world beyond the college gates,” she said. “Our Western Sydney business community loves to engage with young people but, so often, can’t find the opportunities or avenues to do that in a way that works. My role is to build those bridges between the college and the community.” Gregory Whitby, Executive Director of Schools in the Diocese of Parramatta, says that the appointment of a school Partnerships Manager is a very innovative way of building stronger and more effective relationships between schools and the community. “It’s great to see Caroline Chisholm College looking outwards for relevant ways to connect student learning with the world,” Mr Whitby said. “Western Sydney students are global learners and deserve global opportunities.” Ms Dianne Mills - Partnership Manager at Caroline Chisholm | Image Supplied

On Wednesday 14th June 2017, the world lost an amazing man. Grim / Colin was tragically involved in a fatal car accident, leaving behind his beautiful mother and a mountain of family and friends who adore him. As the tributes flow in, many describe him as kind hearted with an awesome smile, loved a joke or a watching a game of footy and as a friend that can simply not be replaced. Grim was loved by so many people! A GoFundMe page has been set up to support his mum, Annette (Anne) who most would know lived most recently in Glenmore Park with Grim. He adored his mum and did all he could for her. We hope that this page and your generous donations continue to help her through this difficult time. All funds will be provided to her directly or a cash donation box is also available at Mulgoa Bakery. Thank you so much for your support. HEALTH MATTERS

Magnesium - The Forgotten Bone Mineral! Magnesium (Mg) has been defined the forgotten electrolyte, in bone. 60% of your body’s magnesium is contained in bone & although it makes up only 1% of the mineral in bone, deficiency can heavily impact bone health. There are many reasons for Magnesium deficiency including rare genetic conditions. In modern society Mg deficiency is mostly due to poor diet and medications such as some diuretics, antibiotics or antineoplastic drugs. Much of today’s diet consists of refined and/or processed cereal-crop carbohydrate foods from which most magnesium (Mg) has been removed or unavailable. Examples include cereal or toast for breakfast, multigrain sandwich bread for lunch; spaghetti bol, pizza, or fluffy white rice for dinner. Diuretics used for blood pressure control for example can cause loss of magnesium through the kidneys. Research suggests that many western women have a Mg intake that’s 30-56% below their 320mg recommended daily intake (RDI), men 38-59% below their 420mg RDI. Some countries recommend much higher intakes i.e. 500 – 1250mg daily; and stress increases your Mg requirements to over 1000mg per day. This can lead to Mg deficiency. Animal experiments show us that Mg intakes 75% below requirement leads to decreased bone volume and trabecular thickness. How does this happen? Low magnesium intake and deficiency: 1. Alters form of mineral crystals in bone making bones much weaker 2. Lowers blood levels of ‘bone building’ parathyroid hormone (PTH)
3.
Lowers the ability of ‘bone building’ and other cells to respond to PTH which can lead to loss of calcium through the kidneys 4. Reduces the body’s ability to convert vitamin D to its active form (1,25 vitamin D). which stimulates calcium uptake from food 5. Increases chronic production of inflammatory mediators which depress bone building and stimulate bone resorption resulting in weak bones [osteopenia] 6. May lead to low grade acidity of blood which increases calcium loss from bone. Mg probably buffers against blood acidity to prevent this. Longer term use (over 2 years) of magnesium supplements after menopause prevented fractures. In one trial, 71% of women experienced a significant increase in bone density. Interestingly very high Mg intake may be harmful to bone by: 1. Depressing bone mineralisation 2. Inhibiting bone mineral crystal formation 3. Producing mineralization defects leading to weaker bones and more fractures. Many patients ask me, ‘so can’t I just take that as a supplement?’ The short answer - ‘Yes you can’! But you risk skewing metabolism when you take single nutrients, because they never work in isolation! So, most of the time, the best source is always whole unprocessed foods. Sesame seeds, Brazil nuts & almonds are three of the best magnesium sources; green leafy vegetables such as silver beet and spinach, beans, even kefir yoghurt are also excellent magnesium foods that will help keep your bones strong.

FROM EDITOR FROM THE THE EDITOR
And with that, we've moved into the second half of the year, just like that! I quite like July. I love any excuse to pop a pair of fluffy socks on, nestled into my favourite lounge with my toes strategically placed in front of the heater. Not only is July the month I celebrate my birthday (although as I age gracefully, its less likely I need to be reminded); I also enjoy all the wonderful hearty winter soups that grace the dinner table during these colder months. July is a busy month for many. For families with school kids at home during the winter holidays, for business owners as they tidy up their end of financial year commitments and reporting; and for the community with many ‘winter’ social events to keep us entertained in our down time. Sara from Educatered has some hot tips to help get you through these school holidays, see page 11 for all the details. Why not keep the kids busy in the kitchen with this month’s recipe in ‘Whats Cooking’ it’s sure to be a huge hit! "Be good to people, for no reason." For now, sit back and warm your toes by the heater, with a warm cuppa in hand and enjoy your Community News.
