Movie Night Fundraiser for Mulgoa Public School Mulgoa Public School is blessed to be in a caring community with families that support the staff and students to achieve their best each day. The grounds are spacious, the classrooms bright and engaging, their only downfall is their existing shade shelter. As such, Mulgoa Public School students, staff and families are currently fundraising to replace their damaged shade shelter and to also extend it to make it larger. With summer temperatures reaching over 40 degrees, this is an important and timely project. Their aim is to have their new shade shelter up and operational for the hot summer months ahead. To this end, their hard-working P&C have set up a Go Fund Me page and are also planning a movie night for the community. The school’s movie night will be held on the evening of Saturday, 23rd September. Gates will open at 4:00pm and the movie will begin at 6:30pm. The movie for the night is ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’. Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20 and will be available on the night. There will be amazing food on offer from Dom’s Pizza Bar, Outback Steakhouse and Cafe2u. Mulgoa Public School’s P&C will also be selling popcorn and drinks on the night. Families will be kept occupied with a jumping castle, glow sticks, a raffle and face painting as well. Sponsorship packages are available for local businesses, with advertising perks included. If you would like more information, please contact the school on 4773 8229. “We hope you can make it to Mulgoa Public School for our ‘let’s build a new shade shelter’ movie night!â€? said Justine Blackley, Principal of Mulgoa Public School. ď ˛ Image: www.pexels.com

Junior Jivers and Launching Joey Jivers! Junior Jivers (JJ’s) is a fantastic music and activity playgroup happening at Glenmore Park Anglican Church (GPAC) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10am – 11.30am. It is now an integral part of the Penrith and Mulgoa communities! Whenever I drop in to say Hi, everyone is having such fun – kids, mums, even the dads and grandparents who attend! I’m continually amazed at the energy and enthusiasm of the kids and leaders. It’s very infectious! JJ’s is designed to encourage each child in their physical, mental, social and spiritual development. Each week there’s a structured program based on a Christian theme (such as “God made the animals”) that includes singing, dancing, musical instruments, a story and a craft or activity related to the theme. Mums and Carers are involved in the activities with their children so they have a great time together. The songs include favourites from “The Wiggles”, “Playschool” and Nursery Rhymes. Morning tea is a great time for children and mums to catch up with each another. Each term there are outings, dress up days and visits. I often hear mums say that JJ’s is the highlight of their week! I’m pleased to announce we have now launched our brand new group “Joey Jivers” on Thursdays 11:15am – 12.30pm aimed

at mothers with babies aged from 0-18 months. Similar to JJ’s, Joey Jivers aims to help the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of our very youngest children with age appropriate songs, games and a Bible devotion all finished off with a chat over tea or coffee and a light lunch. Jesus often taught how important children are and that we should care for them. In the Bible’s book of ‘Mark’, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Children are treasured and loved by God. At our Church we value children and the important role of parenting, so we work hard to care for and support them. All our JJ’s and Joey Jivers leaders, along with all our children’s and youth leaders are committed members of our Church, regularly involved in Child Protection and Safe Ministry Training. We’d love to see you at any of our groups and Sunday Church (see details above). Check us out on Facebook, online, give me a call on 4733 1635 or email our Church Office office@gpa.church. We would love to see you! Rev John Lavender

Riders Give a Dam

Many know the social motorcycle group, The Dam Riders, as a local collection of community-minded men and women who, for over a decade, have helped our local community and many other organisations. To some they might appear a little rough around the edges but it is clearly apparent that this group has a special quality that is possessed by very few. Aside from owning some very expensive motorcycles, most members work full-time (there are a few retirees) and many have lived all their lives in this area. Members all have the same objective - to give back to the community and assist those in need. Since 2006, the group has provided assistance through donations of time and money to various causes with donations exceeding $3000 in the last year alone. The group runs regular meat raffles, which are a major source of income, and requests for assistance are always met with an open mind and heart. The past year has seen some exciting overnight rides to Coolah and Dunedoo where members stay at local hotels and go cruising on numerous daily group rides to hotels west and south. The future holds more interesting full-day organised rides to destinations that have good food and camaraderie as well as meetings to discuss ways of improving the community that is valued so much by this group. The Dam Riders would like to say a special thank you to the patrons of the Wallacia Hotel and the Warragamba Workers Club for their donations made by buying raffle tickets - without you, the Dam Riders would not be able to continue to do the brilliant work they do for the community. The Dam Riders meet on the first Tuesday of every month at the Warragamba Workers Club at 7:30pm and new members are always welcome. ď ˛ Local community group: The Dam Riders | Image Supplied. WARRAGAMBA BAPTIST CHURCH

Book Launch & Author Talk John R. Bicknell

Pastor’s Corner A few years ago I met a man named David in his late sixties. David had grown up in Durban in South Africa. When he was ten years of age, his mother left David in the care of his father and other relatives, and she moved to England. David tried unsuccessfully to stow away, and join his mother, but was found before the ship left the port. David loved playing soccer, but was otherwise rebellious and hated school and constantly in trouble. Eventually at age fourteen he left school and was apprenticed to a Dutch painter; then at the age of seventeen, he moved to England. Life was never easy for David, weekends were spent playing and watching soccer, and gambling and drinking with his mates at the local. David and his wife immigrated to Australia, he began to build a business, but it collapsed. Through his drinking and gambling, he was always broke. He suffered two strokes, which left him significantly cognitively impaired. David was recovering from the effects of a stroke, when I first met him. Over time we became friends, and David began to share his life story with me. It was during this time that I introduced David to my friend Jesus. David and I would sit and talk about faith and life, David found forgiveness and peace that he always looked for. He began to change, he became gentle and more caring for his family; he had found the peace he had looked for all his life. Then, just before he turned seventy, David passed away. The scriptures tell us: “That everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. “ (Acts 10:43). Jesus released David, from all the mistakes he had made throughout his life. You too, through finding a relationship with Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour, will find peace and forgiveness. Why not join us on the last Sunday of each month, when we run a CafĂŠ Church; where over a cuppa, and food we share together about life and faith. God Bless, Lyndon

Saying ‘Sorry’ Seems Like A Good Thing To Do. Doesn’t It? I wonder about the importance of teaching young children to say ‘sorry’ when they have done something awry. Very young children, under the age of 4 years, are egocentric and they don’t have ‘theory of mind’. Egocentric means that they think the universe revolves around them. Theory of mind is having an understanding that other people have thoughts and feelings of their own. These skills develop slowly from the age of 4 years. Chances are that your two-year-old has pegged the truck at his brother’s head because he meant it and he doesn’t really understand that it has hurt his brother. No matter how many times you tell him. When we teach a young child to say ‘sorry’ it isn’t a consequence. The child learns that he or she can say sorry to get out of trouble. The other chestnut is “it was an accident”. Teachers at school tell me that even older children will try to get out of trouble for pushing another child by saying that it was an accident. It is an insincere apology, and who wants that? I encourage parents to role model how to do sorry for their young children. If your child has hurt another child at playgroup, you look the other child in the eye, with your child standing next to you, and you say something like “I’m sorry that my child hit you, it must have really hurt”. You then give your child a consequence such as a time-out. It must be immediate. As children grow, and develop more of their cerebral cortex, and thus theory of mind, we then start talking to them about making a sincere apology. We talk about how we take responsibility for our actions by apologising and making amends. There may still be consequences. Child development is always a work in progress. Children won’t learn these skills the first time, it requires consistent and gentle guidance from the adults in their lives. From. Pg 1

From Stress to Success: How to Push Past the Pressure of the HSC

would you like help to support your child's learning? parent workshops

Studying and taking exams can be stressful. Let’s face it – many of us have probably had difficulty sleeping, had fluctuations in eating patterns and mood changes during examination times. The pressure of retaining information and being able to draw on that information during an exam or assessment can create undue amounts of stress and anxiety, particularly for young people. With so much pressure to achieve a certain mark or score, it is not surprising that many students feel they are trapped in a system of ‘academic achievement = lifelong success’. Unfortunately, this common perception has contributed to the decline in mental health amongst teenagers and left many young people feeling an overwhelming sense of pressure. Over the past two years in particular, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding the well-being of school students. Many schools have revised their student welfare policies and adopted a progressive approach to ensuring students ‘connect, succeed and thrive’. Whilst this is certainly a massive step in the right direction, the Higher School Certificate (HSC) exams, and lesser so, the National Assessment Program - Literacy And Numeracy (NAPLAN), are still based on a ‘snapshot’ of a student’s learning and education. With the 2017 HSC written exams commencing on October 16th, Year 12 students will need the support of their families more than ever. Here are some ways you can help your teenager during the examination period: • Provide healthy meals. • Ensure adequate sleep and exercise. • Encourage a healthy balance between work and leisure. • Maintain a study space free from distractions. • Highlight strengths and successes, focusing on effort rather than results. • Understand they may be feeling extra-sensitive so try not to overreact. • Encourage them to seek assistance from teachers or the school counsellor if they appear to be struggling.  Image | www.pexels.com. WHAT’S COOKING

Lasagna Party Ring ingredients 3 tablespoons canola oil ½ onion, diced 4 cloves garlic, minced ¾ pound ground beef, 80:20 ratio of lean to fat ¾ pound ground sweet Italian sausage 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon black pepper 28 ounces tomato sauce 15 ounces ricotta ½ cup shredded Parmesan ¼ cup basil, chopped 1 egg 18-20 cooked lasagna noodles 2 cups shredded mozzarella ½ cup marinara sauce, to serve preparation 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). 2. In a large pot over high heat, add oil, onions, and garlic, and cook until they begin to brown, stirring occasionally. 3. Add the beef, sausage, salt, and pepper, cooking until all of the moisture has evaporated and the meat is starting to brown on the edges, breaking the meat up as you stir. 4. Add the tomato sauce, then reduce heat to a simmer, cooking the sauce down until the mixture becomes extremely thick, almost paste-like. Remove from heat and set aside. 5. In a bowl, combine the ricotta, Parmesan, basil, and egg, mixing until smooth. Set aside. 6. Slice 6 of the lasagna noodles in half. These will serve as the layers in between the meat and the cheese mixture. 7. Spray a bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray, then lay about 10-12 noodles into the bottom of the pan, fanning them out in an overlapping pattern. One end of the noodles should be just as tall as the centre of the pan, and the other end of the noodles should hang over the sides of the pan. 8. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella into the bottom of the pan on top of the noodles. This will help bind the noodles together when cooked. 9. Spread half of the meat mixture evenly in a ring over the top of the mozzarella, then lay half of the cut noodle pieces over the top to create a noodle layer. 10. Spread all of the ricotta mixture over the noodles in an even ring, then layer with the rest of the noodles and the rest of the meat sauce. 11. Fold the edges of the lasagna noodles hanging over the sides of the pan back towards the centre, creating another overlapping pattern. 12. Sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella evenly on top. 13. Bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until the cheese is a deep golden brown. 14. Cool for about an hour, then carefully invert the ring onto a cutting board. 15. Slice the ring, then top with any extra Parmesan and basil. 16. Place a small bowl filled with marinara at the centre of the ring, for dipping. 17. Serve! The community of Warragamba is buzzing with new local business and massage clinic, Body Rescue Therapies, opening its doors this month. Body Rescue Therapies, is owned by local resident Carinne Fidge and provides massage services that include Remedial Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Remedial Stone Fusion, Lymphatic Drainage, Pregnancy Massage and Swedish Massage. “I have chosen to open in Warragamba to help out my local community, as well as be around more for my young children” said Remedial Massage Therapist, Carinne. Carinne’s goals for the business include introducing the local community to greater awareness of what’s happening in their body through Massage Therapy, hopefully being able to move better and feel better within themselves. Long term, she would like to get a few practitioners of varying allied health professions together to create a place for wellness for the community. “I think I will like working in the local community due to the rewarding experience of helping my neighbours and being able to bring new business to our small community. It may also help a few locals save a trip or 2 into town” ended Carinne. Body Rescue Therapies are located at 2/15 Fourteenth Street in Warragamba. Their phone number is 0418 475417. You can find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ bodyrescuetherapies/  The home of Body Rescue Therapies in Warragamba | Image Supplied

Busy Hands

Warragamba Hobby Hut Donates to Carrington For elderly people living with dementia, the chance to keep their hands busy can help make life a little more interesting. Members of the Warragamba Hobby Hut have been busy creating “twiddle muffs, the latest craze in nursing homes. Erica Berton, Hobby Hut member, said she saw it on the internet. Knitted hand muffs with fiddle items do not only keep older hands warm, but the buttons, ribbons and other adornments keep their owners occupied. The Hobby Hut has already donated many twiddle muffs to Carrington Retirement Village, and many of the members are busy creating more. Julie Barry (Care Services Manager at Carrington) said “The residents will find the Twiddle muffs very useful. The twiddle muffs have been very popular with the residents, and they are very grateful for the colourful gifts. The Warragamba Hobby Hut (located at 13 Third Street in Warragamba) provides people with a space to display and sell their craft creations. It is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am-2:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am-2:00pm. All visitors are welcome, especially during the Friday morning tea. For more information follow the Warragamba Hobby Hut Facebook page. HEALTH MATTERS

Love Your Salt – Lose Your Bones! Many factors can alter the effects that sodium has on body calcium balance and so the role that sodium plays in relation to calcium and bones is a little complex. We’ll try to clarify the effects below. But first here are some facts about salt intakes: 1. Most sodium in modern diets is table salt (sodium chloride) added to foods for flavour. 2. 1.2 – 2.3 grams salt (NaCl) daily is considered adequate for adults. 3. Yanomamo Indians in Brazil can live healthily on just 0.5 grams salt daily. 4. Many healthy populations have no more than 2.3 grams salt daily. 5. Australians eats 9.9grams of salt per day 6. The people of Tianjin city in China eat 14.1 grams of salt per day. 7. 14.5% of Australians over 50 (women 23%, men 6%) have osteoporosis. 8. 34.65% of people over 50; 61.6% over 60 (male 52.1%, female 69.1%) of Tianjin people have osteoporosis. Medical literature suggests that the body loses 40mg of calcium for every 2.3 grams of sodium ingested (as NaCl), this would deplete 10% of the skeleton within a decade if the body were unable to compensate. Let’s look at an excellent 32-week randomized repeat cross over study done at the Institute of Food Research, Norwich, UK. Researchers asked what effect a moderately high (11.2g NaCl) or low (3.9g NaCl) salt intake had on the bone calcium in postmenopausal women placed on either a low or high calcium diet. Known dietary factors (protein, vitamin D & potassium) that

influence calcium uptake & loss were kept constant. So what did they find? 1. A quarter of participants had no increase in urinary calcium loss due to increased salt intake (these women were able to compensate for increased salt intake – they’re safe J). For the rest: 2. When the diet was low in calcium (518mg/d) bone calcium balance got worse, whether the salt intake was high or low. 3. When the diet was high in calcium (1284mg/d) and high in salt, the bone calcium balance was still negative. 4. Only when salt intake was low did the high calcium diet provide a positive bone calcium balance. Other factors modify salt’s effects on bone calcium: The chloride in salt is also important. Table salt (NaCl) increases urinary calcium loss more than sodium bicarbonate or sodium acetate. As we now know from last month’s article, potassium intake has plummeted and sodium skyrocketed in modern diets. But it is precisely the potassium from green vegetables & potatoes etc, that can stop the urinary calcium loss due to dietary saltloading, and also prevent increase in biochemical markers of bone resorption. Given what we’ve learned above, it should be pretty clear that we do not need added salt to survive & be healthy!! We get more than enough sodium, to allow the body to work perfectly, from healthy unsalted foods. So, if you want strong bones, lay off the salt; eat plenty more veges!

Councillor’s Corner by Cr Matt Gould

Resource Recovery Centre Proposed at Wallacia Whilst no formal application has been lodged, it is understood that Wallacia Soils are considering use of 205 Bents Basin Road, Wallacia as a Resource Recovery Facility. Due to the scale of the proposal any formal application is likely to be determined by the Regional Planning Panel rather than Council. The proposal would increase the processing capacity of the site to 500,000 tonnes per annum and would expand the range of materials able to be accepted at the site to include concrete, brick, steel, timber, plastic, soils and sand as well as enabling the processing of waste soils and other physically contaminated earthen materials to recover recyclable materials. The proponents expects the proposal to utilise up to 33,333 trucks per year, with an anticipated maximum of 24 truck movements per hour and it is expected to employ approximately 25 full time staff. State Government Sells Us Out To Developers The State Government has recently announced that Councillors in Greater Sydney (including Wollondilly) will be stripped of their ability to determine Development Applications (DA’s) and that for proposals over $5 million or where more than 10 objections are received a new panel of State Government appointed “experts” who have no accountability whatsoever to our community will determine them instead . I fear these panels will be little more than rubber stamps for developers, regardless of whether they are in the best interests of our community. They will significantly reduce the amount of input our community get on growth in the area, and will introduce additional costs to Council. The only people that benefit from this are the developers, who now more than ever will be able to just steamroll over the will of our local community on contentious developments thanks to their mates in State Government. If you are concerned by these changes I strongly encourage you to let our State MP and the Minister for Planning know. For help on any Council related issues please email me at matt.gould@wollondilly.nsw.gov.au, call me on 0427 936 471 or check out my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ CrMattGould).

traffic update Night Work On Mulgoa Road The NSW Government is funding this essential maintenance work under its $1.5 billion program to maintain and improve the 18,028 kilometre state road network. Roads and Maritime Services will be carrying out investigation work to finalise a plan for removing and replacing asphalt and repainting road markings on Mulgoa Road between St Thomas Road and 400m north of Mayfair Road, Mulgoa. The maintenance work aims to prevent or minimise damage to roads and their surrounds from weather and wear and tear to make them safer, provide consistent driving conditions and reduce maintenance costs in the long term. Roads and Maritime Services will be on site for five shifts between Sunday 3 September and Sunday 1 October, weather permitting. Our night work hours will be between 9pm and 5am from Sunday to Friday. The work may be noisy at times but Road and Maritime Services will do everything they can to minimise its impact, including completing the noisier tasks by 11pm. There will be some temporary traffic changes during work hours to ensure the work zone is safe. Lane closures will be in place and may affect travel times. Please keep to speed limits and follow signs and traffic controllers’ directions. For the latest traffic updates, you can call 132 701, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App. If you have any questions, please contact our delivery partner, DM Roads, on 1800 332 660 or enquiries_nsw@ dmroads.com.au. For more information on our projects, visit rms.nsw.gov.au.

Bodies Of 16 Cats Found In Bushland – Silverdale Investigations are underway after the bodies of 16 cats were found in bushland at Silverdale. Police from St Marys Local Area Command were called in after a local rescue group discovered the bodies, in varying stages of decomposition, in bushland at the rear of industrial complex in Econo place, Silverdale, last month (Thursday 10 August 2017). Post mortem examinations were conducted on some of the bodies, which indicated those cats had been drowned. Police have been told the cats were living in bushland, and none appear to have been micro-chipped. Police are working with the RSPCA, the rescue group and local businesses in an effort to identify who is responsible for the deaths. Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com. au/. Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence. We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.

PAWS A WHILE

Fantastic 2 Days at the Sydney Dog Lovers Show!

Smiles all around!

Happy Dogs!

We had so much fun at the Dog Lovers Show at the Rose-Hip Vital stand. Camille Brandt from Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital attended the Dog Lovers Show as a special guest of Rose-Hip Vital in August 2017. Camille took her 2 dogs to the Dog Lovers Show (Pony a Great Dane cross and Leo a Labrador), and at least 1000 people came and patted them. The Sydney Dog Lovers Show is the ultimate event for dog lovers of all ages where thousands of passionate dog lovers celebrate the companionship, unconditional affection and joy that our furry friends bring to our lives every day. There were over 150+ exhibitors showcasing dog products and services in Australia. It was a great opportunity to spoil your fur-kids with loads of show specials and free samples. Pony has been to the Dog Lovers Show for the last 3 years and he was so good. Pony loved leaning on the people that were patting him, he is not shy to ask for a pat! It was Leo’s first time at the Dog Lovers Show and he surprised us all by being calm and well behaved. Leo enjoyed sticking his nose into people’s hand bags and sample bags, as he can smell food from a mile away. The day was full of pats for Pony and Leo and they enjoyed a few doggy naps throughout the day. Even when they were laying down they were still getting patted and their tails did not stop wagging. Thank you to all of our clients who popped in to say hello, we appreciate your support. It was great seeing so many familiar faces in the crowd! We posted over 100 photos on our Facebook page, so enjoy the photos. https://www. facebook.com/orchardhillsvethospital/ Please feel free to pop in anytime and meet the team at Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital. Latest @ Luddenham by Wayne Willmington I know that some residents would not like to see changes around town, but the truth of the matter is that they are going to happen so we need to embrace the change, we need to all work together to get the new Luddenham that our Community would like. We are now seeing construction getting underway on Northern Rd and this month several big announcements. A new partnership between the Sydney Science Park at Luddenham and the Westmead precinct will connect leading scientific research with innovative business and bring tens of thousands of jobs to Western Sydney. Minister for Education, Rob Stokes welcomed a partnership between Celestino, the developer of the Sydney Science Park, and the Westmead precinct’s seven health, education and research organisations. Mr Stokes said the agreement would create organisational, professional and research links between these two significant campuses in Western Sydney. “The partnership between the Westmead precinct and Sydney Science Park cements Western Sydney as a world-leader in research and innovation,” he said. “The rapid growth of Western Sydney requires the creation of more high-quality, knowledge-based jobs; it is precincts like Westmead and Sydney Science Park that will provide these jobs of the future.” This is happening in Luddenham. Also the Federal Government announced some of the Board for the new company, WSA Co (Western Sydney Airport Co who will build the Western Sydney Airport). WSA Co will be chaired by Mr Paul O’Sullivan. Mr O’Sullivan’s (former Chief Executive of

Optus) business leadership expertise makes him highly qualified to lead the company delivering Western Sydney Airport. He will be joined by Mrs Fiona Balfour, Mr Tim Eddy and Ms Christine Spring as directors of WSA Co. Mrs Balfour has over 35 years’ experience across a range of industries. She is a long-serving airline executive and is currently a member of the Air Services Australia board. Mr Eddy has over 30 years’ experience in professional services with a focus on commercial transactions, most recently as Managing Partner Operations, Oceania, Ernst & Young. Ms Spring is an expert in aviation infrastructure and airport operations, as well as a civil engineer with approximately 20 years’ experience. She has a focus on planning and construction of significant capital development projects in the aviation industry. The board’s early priorities will be to recruit its CEO and senior management and to commence procurement of construction activities and work to the completion date of 2026. At the recent annual meeting of the Progress Association the following were elected; Wayne Willmington - President, John Riordon - Snr Vice President, John Willmington - Vice President, Patrick Darley Jones - Secretary and Glen Marsden - Treasurer. Also the Show Society held their AGM with the following elected; Wayne Willmington - President, Garry Rogers - Snr Vice President, Rocky Roots & Lenka Nikesitch as Vice Presidents and Harley Woods as Secretary –Treasurer. If you have an opinion on what Luddenham of the future should be like please email your thoughts or views to willmingtons@bigpond.com we all need to work together to get the best results for the new Luddenham.  Western Sydney Airport . Warragamba Business Association Exploring Richmond’s Secret Warragamba Community Garden will be a resource for the whole community providing a variety of benefits from social to educational. We have always thought that the Community Garden would be a place where people with special needs could enjoy the benefits of interacting with the garden and profiting from the physical, mental and emotional stimulation. A visit to The Secret Garden in Western Sydney University’s campus confirmed that. We were knocked over by the enthusiasm of a teacher of special needs classes and volunteers, for the garden’s benefits. Although we are not affiliated in any way, the Garden would be a natural “partner for the proposed Livvi’s Place planned for Warragamba Village. Many visits to other Community Gardens are planned and we

will be collating what we learn in the eventual Business Case we will present to Council. Suggestions, as to what the Community Garden should provide, are welcome from any individual or group so please let us know what you want the Garden to deliver. It would appear that despite our submission and petition, the council will rubber stamp the re-imposition of Alcohol Free Zones in the Village and fronting the Workers Club. The Police requested this and council are recommending compliance despite the original zoning expiring 2 years ago with no incidents reported. Council Officers also recommend “Council Officers will undertake an awareness program. This program will teach us how to ask permission to hold street fairs etc.

Oh joy! September is here; and I am pleased to report we have almost finished our full home renovation. What a task that was.... While our home looks much like a display home now, the most satisfying part of our renovation was that we enlisted many of the trades and services found right here in the Gazette; from Carpenters, Electricians and Window Cleaners right through to Kitchen and Bathroom renovators. We have an amazing list of professional and talented trades, services and businesses right here in our community. Supporting local business keeps locals employed and our local economy thrives. Live. Love. Local! Be sure to show your support by shopping local; and when you ring let them know that you found them in the Gazette! As always, there’s plenty to read, see and do, outlined in this month’s edition. The happiest people in life are the givers, not the takers. It's time to enjoy some ‘me-time’ with Your Community News!
