LTG UPDATE Happy holidays division 25!! First of all, I hope this newsletter finds you all doing well and enjoying the festive season! I'm sure many of you despise the phrase "unprecedented times" as much as I do, so I'm just going to say that I truly hope all of you are finding ways to make the most of the season, spend meaningful time with family, and stay connected with friends - and if you're able to keep up the spirit of service that makes us Key Club, then kudos to you! This month, we're going to have the opportunity to do just that - I have started a CharityMiles fundraiser that will be running from today until January 15th. Make sure to read about it on page 4! NYDKC is in the process of creating a new 5 year strategic plan, and we need your help! I encourage all of you to fill out this form, letting us know what ideas, questions or concerns YOU, the members, have for Key Club! The regular dues deadline is coming up on February 1st, so make sure that your club submits those as soon as possible. As always, let me know if you or your advisor need any help making that happen! Although it seems like ages ago, our District Fall Leadership Conference took place a couple of weeks ago, and I want to thank all of you that were able to attend, and I hope you all learned something and found some inspiration in our amazing keynote speakers! That's all from me for now - I hope you all have a joyful, relaxing, and healthy holiday season, and I can't wait to hear from you all soon! Yours in service, Kasia Kalinski

fall district conference recap

This weekend was a major success! Thank you so much to everyone who made it possible, and most of all, to all of our members who attended from all over the district! We heard from so many amazing LTGs who hosted over 20 different workshops, as well as two wonderful keynote speakers, who showed us how much influence our dedication to service and equality really has on the world. As part of the event, we worked with Color A Smile to decorate greeting cards for residents of nursing homes and hospitals, and were able to send hundreds of cards that will surely bring joy to people in difficult situations. We look forward to connecting our district like this again in the future - it was truly inspiring to see so many Key Club members come together to learn and live out their commitment to service!

GOVERNOR'S PROJECT Canines

for

Disabled

Kids

Each year, our District Governor selects a charity to consolidate our fundraising efforts as a district community. Canines for disabled kids provides scholarships for kids who need guide dogs, counseling for families who are considering a service dog, and education to schools and businesses worldwide. In doing so, CDK gives children and their families a sense of independence, and advocates for individuals with service animals.

DISTRICT PROJECT Project

Hope

Project HOPE strives to provide medical training in order to build a strong and resilient global community of health care workers. Its volunteers work to create long-term solutions rather than quick fixes in the areas of natural disasters, infectious diseases, maternal & child health, and health policy.

DISTRICT ENDORSED PROJECT Kiwanis Trauma

Pediatric Center

The Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center is a clinic located in Long Island, New York that is dedicated to serving unique care for children in extreme situations (e.g. trauma injuries). It also serves a number of other functions, such as outreach to parents and educational programs. You can support this charity by raising $1,000 for a Trauma Kit, a child-sized ambulance equipment kit which is compiled to meet most on-scene emergency needs of children. The kits are donated to fire departments and ambulance services under the auspices of the local Kiwanis clubs in each community.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT Division

Wide

Fundraiser

For the month of December, our division is coming together to raise money for the charity Soles4Souls, an international project that collects used shoe and monetary donations to help children living in poverty, and to give their communities the chance to rise out of poverty by selling those donations as well. We are once again utilizing the platform CharityMiles, and members from all over the division have already contributed hundreds of miles! Members are encouraged to get sponsored by friends and family members to maximize their impact, and this event will continue until January 15.

Divisional Meeting We had our first divisional meeting in November, and I want to say thank you to everyone who made the time to attend! We went over the upcoming events that are included in this newsletter, as well as had a chance to brainstorm for a fundraiser, which resulted in our Soles4Souls fundraiser! Be on the lookout for another meeting coming up in January!
