LTG UPDATE Hey everyone! Happy Fall! We're finally back in school, and that means so many opportunities to live out a spirit of service in our very own communities. With all the holidays coming up, I am sure that all of you Key Clubbers will be inspired to organize new and exciting outreach projects within your schools - let me know if you need help with brainstorming, or if you just want to share a success story. I know that it may take some time to adjust to virtual meetings and service, but I believe that all of you will rise to the occasion - plus, our Virtual and Pandemic Response Committee is coming out with TONS of resources to help you and your club members make the most of this year! Finally, all the members of our District Board are eagerly preparing for this year's Virtual Fall Rally. This will be full of workshops, games and service projects, and I hope to see all of you there! Have a wonderful September, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours in service, Kasia Kalinski
Reminders: The MRF for August is due on September 10th! *Even if you are behind on paperwork, be sure to fill out past months' MRFs so you can be eligible for recognition at LTC 2021! Be sure to hold elections and fill out ERFs by September 30!

RECAP
300 Key Clubbers from the Pacific Northwest and New York Districts were joined by Tom Kriegelstein on August 30, where we learned his new Dance Floor Theory, a technique for attracting and engaging club members! Here are some key takeaways:
Find shared interests to create more connections between people.
90-9-1 Rule 90% of members are passive, 9% do some work, 1% do all of the work...engage the 90% by using a pattern interrupt! Use music in Zoom meetings to engage members.

Up with People is a charity unlike any you've heard of. This traveling music performance group tours the globe with a mission of empowering youth to build a network of respectful, engaged, and understanding global citizens. They perform international and contemporary music & dance in countless venues and bring with them a message of hope & unity. By giving to this charity, you provide performance education to youth and allow them to create a more universal impact, as they go on to realize their individual capacity to make change, long after their tour is over.

GOVERNOR'S PROJECT Canines
for
Disabled
Kids
Each year, our District Governor selects a charity to consolidate our fundraising efforts as a district community. Canines for disabled kids provides scholarships for kids who need guide dogs, counseling for families who are considering a service dog, and education to schools and businesses worldwide. In doing so, CDK gives children and their families a sense of independence, and advocates for individuals with service animals.
DISTRICT PROJECT Project
Hope
Project HOPE strives to provide medical training in order to build a strong and resilient global community of health care workers. Its volunteers work to create long-term solutions rather than quick fixes in the areas of natural disasters, infectious diseases, maternal & child health, and health policy.

DISTRICT ENDORSED PROJECT Kiwanis Trauma
Pediatric Center
The Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center is a clinic located in Long Island, New York that is dedicated to serving unique care for children in extreme situations (e.g. trauma injuries). It also serves a number of other functions, such as outreach to parents and educational programs. You can support this charity by raising $1,000 for a Trauma Kit, a child-sized ambulance equipment kit which is compiled to meet most on-scene emergency needs of children. The kits are donated to fire departments and ambulance services under the auspices of the local Kiwanis clubs in each community.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT Division-wide
Fundraiser
With quarantine restrictions in place and volunteering opportunities limited, Division 25 hit the ground running to raise money for the March of Dimes, a charity that provides support for mothers and their babies, especially during the challenges of COVID-19. We used the app CharityMiles, a platform that turns physical activity into donations, by utilizing a corporate sponsorship fund and individual pledges. This has been a wonderful way to keep active during a time of isolation, and has united Key Clubbers throughout the division in a worthy goal. The fundraiser was started by Tatiana Solodova, our district’s Executive Assistant and temporary Division 25 Lieutenant Governor, and will be continued for the remainder of the summer. It has been truly inspiring to see how even a small effort, when made by a consolidated group of individuals, can impact the lives of those in need for the better.
