LTG UPDATE Hello wonderful people! This year has gone by so quickly, and I'm so proud of everything we've been able to achieve as a division. From our CharityMiles fundraisers to divisionals to all of the wonderful service projects I saw each of your clubs participating in, we certainly made an impact on our communities, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to have gotten to know so many of you. While the service year is coming to a close, we still have a few major events to look forward to! The annual leadership training conference is coming up, so keep an eye out for updates regarding that over the next few weeks. Also, club secretaries need to be sure to fill out their Annual Achievement Report, which can be found here. Finally, we have a House of Delegates meeting coming up on the 20th of this month, so read on to find out houw to sign up for that. Thank you all for a wonderful year, and as always be sure to reach out to me with any questions you might have! Yours in service, Kasia Kalinski

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT East

Aurora East

High

Aurora,

School NY

This past month our Key Club at East Aurora was lucky enough to be able to partner with Vanessa Frost, owner of Musejar, to create cards for the local nursing home, Absolut Care. Residents at this and many other nursing homes have had to stay in quarantine, without seeing any family members since almost the start of the pandemic for obvious health related reasons, making it a very difficult past few months for them. With this in mind, as a club, we wanted to find a way to safely put a smile on the faces of the nursing home residents and bring some joy into their lives. Similar to the hearts being put up around East Aurora which spread the message of unity and strength, we decided on making heart cards with special and uplighting sayings written on each of them. We had about 20 of our members come and create these cards, eventually allowing us to end up with over 230 cards for every single resident at the nursing home. It truly was a special event that all of our members enjoyed participating in, and we hope as a club that these cards do bring joy and happiness into the lives of the nursing home residents. Bridget Zagrobelny Vice President, East Aurora Key Club

GOVERNOR'S PROJECT Canines

for

Disabled

Kids

Each year, our District Governor selects a charity to consolidate our fundraising efforts as a district community. Canines for disabled kids provides scholarships for kids who need guide dogs, counseling for families who are considering a service dog, and education to schools and businesses worldwide. In doing so, CDK gives children and their families a sense of independence, and advocates for individuals with service animals.

DISTRICT PROJECT Project

Hope

Project HOPE strives to provide medical training in order to build a strong and resilient global community of health care workers. Its volunteers work to create long-term solutions rather than quick fixes in the areas of natural disasters, infectious diseases, maternal & child health, and health policy.

DISTRICT ENDORSED PROJECT Kiwanis Trauma

Pediatric Center

The Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center is a clinic located in Long Island, New York that is dedicated to serving unique care for children in extreme situations (e.g. trauma injuries). It also serves a number of other functions, such as outreach to parents and educational programs. You can support this charity by raising $1,000 for a Trauma Kit, a child-sized ambulance equipment kit which is compiled to meet most on-scene emergency needs of children. The kits are donated to fire departments and ambulance services under the auspices of the local Kiwanis clubs in each community.
