Happy November, Blue Devils! We’ve officially passed the halfway point of this term! I’m so proud of all the work that we’ve accomplished throughout this pandemic! Reminder that membership dues are due December 1! Here are a few benefits to paying dues: Become a recognized member of Key Club International - Eligible for District scholarships, awards, and recognition - Eligible to run for leadership positions including club officer, DLT, and District-level - You get a cool pin and member ID card The list goes on! To pay your dues, follow the directions your club officer board gives you, or contact them directly in case they haven’t provided you any. Dues vary between each club but are usually around $15. Not ready to commit $15 to Key Club membership? No worries! We’re holding a New Member Orientation this month that will include lots of member education and bonding geared toward new members to help you decide whether or not you want to stay in Key Club. Additionally, we have our first in-person event this month which is the Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive with our local Kiwanis clubs! More information on these events can be found later on in this newsletter, so read on!

Always serving with a SMILE,

Caroline Lobel

letter from your

division news editor

Hey Blue Devils! I hope you have been having a great school year so far. Although the school year is still in its first semester, the Key Club term is already halfway over, I’m excited for all the opportunities the second half of the 2020-21 term will provide for us. Stay tuned for spirit socials, spirit rallies, and fun DCMs that we’ll hopefully get to have in person sooner or later. To senior Blue Devils, I know that right now is probably a stressful and packed time. Head on over to page 10 and 11 to read some words of advice from current college students & their messages of encouragement for you throughout this time. I hope it ‘ll be somewhat helpful and give you some encouragement. With that said, I hope you enjoy this issue of The Daily Devil. Make sure to take a look at upcoming events so you can participate in as many events as you can, get closer to the growing Blue Devil family. I really do hope many of you at the club level can participate in division-wide events and truly become a part of D26S. It really is an invaluable experience. Now, now. I’ll let you stop here and just keep flipping pages! As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any inquiries about the newsletter or would like to feature your club’s activities!

Burning with service,

Christine Oh

articles & San Ramon Valley's Key Club completes their second successful meeting with now 40 students attending. The meeting went over multiple topics, some including the newest service opportunities such as Math for UNICEF and Stickers for PTP as well as getting the club familiar with our submitted by Jeiane Hypnar, San Ramon Valley regions and divisions under Key Club International. We had so much fun with our new blue devils and will soon be collecting dues from our members and starting up a fundraiser in the near future. - Jeiane Hypnar, San Ramon Valley

The bake sale was really fun. For the delivery portion myself as well as other DLT members set up a station at Coyote creek school in San Ramon and people that had placed orders for baked goods stopped by to pick them up. This event in a way also served as a bonding event. We were able to play a couple rounds of Among Us and just hang out while we waited for people to pick up their items. - Isabella Gonzales, Dublin

The September DWS was super fun! Although I had to leave early, I wrote lots of letters to healthcare workers online, as well as created some handmade cards. I had fun mixing colors, stickers, and more to make visually appealing cards to show my continued appreciation for healthcare workers. - Christine Oh, California

On the weekend of September 19th, I learned a lot more about Key Club and met so many people through the Region 9 and 17 Gamers in Service RTC. Even though I am a bit shy, it was fun going through the round robin rotations and playing games and learning. I only wish I had become more involved in Key Club sooner; it would have been an amazing experience to meet everyone in person and to watch the talent show and work with my team, Yoshi House (the best, even though we didn’t win!!), towards winning the campfire games. Despite everything being online, I’m glad I got to meet and interact with so many new people, as well as the LTGs, advisors, and district officers that attended. Thanks for the great experience everyone! - Lindsey Tatsumi, Las Lomas

Hey everyone! I bet you didn't think you'd hear from me again like this huh? That aside, right now is a very tense and stressful time for seniors right now (that is if you chose to partake in the horrors of college applications). To those of you who are going to junior college, community college, or have other plans in mind, those choices won't affect the perception other people have about you. College isn't for everyone; you might not need a college education for something that you're passionate about. My brother studied at UCLA and got a degree in ethnomusicology. However, he started picking up computer coding as a hobby during college, and now he turned that hobby into a career and is living his best life. What I'm trying to get at here is that everything will be okay no matter what path you choose. College applications are just one small bump on the road to your future. You don't have to fear them truth be told, they don't take very long. If you are applying to UC's, the questions just ask about yourself. Everyone loves talking about themselves, so every senior should nail that part! And for CSU's, that application is even easier. I started that application 20 minutes before it was due and completed it with 10 minutes to spare. I probably got the world record on that I swear. This is a bit long but you're going to need all the support you need through this process. Many people over stress themselves over this process, but trust me its much easier to handle than one might think. And be happy that ur applying to college now versus even a decade ago. College degrees are getting more and more obsolete, so don't be surprised if you see yourself catching lucky breaks with your future jobs. Good luck everyone!
