2 | LETTER FROM YOUR LTG

(Letters from you HELLO BLUE DEVILS!!

ro

Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to Fall Rally North! Although we didn't win the spirit stick, you all won in my hearts ᕙ(`▿´)ᕗ. Fall Rally marks the halfway point of this term; whether you've been in Key Club for years or joined yesterday, prepare yourself for the next few months! We have tons of exciting events (like a Region 9 ice skating DCM :0 ?? ) and opportunities to look forward to.

v However, there is one big thing I want to talk about this o g month... dues! You may be asking yourself, "What are dues?". Membership dues are a fee you pay to your respective clubs

to solidify your membership. Some benefits of paying dues include: becoming an official Key Club member, having your service hours validated, becoming eligible for scholarships and awards, being able to run/apply for high leadership positions (including club officers), receiving a super cool membership card. The list goes on and on. Though the price of dues for each club, they usually come to around $15 ($7 to Key Club International, $4.50 to the Cali-Nev-Ha District, the rest to your club funds). If you aren't financially able to pay this fee, contact your respective club officers to see if you can receive a subsidization or scholarship!

Now that we are in the season of giving, remember to appreciate those in your life that have helped you along the way. To start the wave of gratitude, I thank all of you Blue Devils for being outstanding members; you all make me proud to be a Lt. Governor ▿ !

Is this already the 7th newsletter? Time flies when you're having fun... At the time of writing this, I haven't been to FRN (Fall Rally North) yet-- it's still in a few days! I'm really excited and I have my hopes up high for it since I'm skipping hoco LOL

Anyways, how has everyone been? Personally, these past two months or so have been so tiring for me! Maybe it's the jump from freshman to sophomore year combined with digital to in person... but it's worth it! I got to attend Key Club meetings in person during lunch, and it was so cool seeing everyone there. Club fair was also really fun, and I can't wait till the next one! The pros definitely outweigh the cons for this one! However, I can't deny the workload ;( I'm also super excited about upcoming events! Other than FRN, I'm also looking forward to the October DCM: 262 Night Market! Hopefully by the time you're reading this, you've attended! Until next time...

Kiwanis will be supporting the NBC Bay Area "Nourishing Neighbors" Food Drive, by manning the four SRV Safeway stores and helping to solicit donations to the CC/Solano Food Bank. Both NBC and Safeway are Kiwanis sponsors and this is the 16th year we've participated in the Food Drive. So, we need your help. As you know, this is a great community service project and an awesome "feel good" start to the holiday season.

CLUB RECAPS

amador valley

This month was a busier month for our Key Club wiht our first meeting our annual schoolwide Pigskin. We sold sour punch straws and sold out! Other than that we had our first meeting which served more as an informational meeting and helping people understand what Key Club is since there was still a lot of confusion around that. We had a great turnout and our second meeting we taught Key Club Cheers for FRN to get everyone ready to win the spirit stick.

california

A lot of things have happened this month! Our club has resumed official meetings and Club Rush happened last week! We got around 150 signups, and our next meeting was packed! We also had two spirit socials this month that went very well! All of the people in our club who attended the spirit socials were very happy with how it went. Our member of the month at the division level was Meeka Biswas! All in all, this month has been great, and we are steadily reaching our goals as the year goes by!

campolindo*

We got more members to join during club day and a fair amount came to our first meeting.

dougherty valley

This September was one of our more triumphant month. We had a fruitful club day, in contrast to last year. This month, we welcomed over 300 new members! We set up the new AMR and MRF. We introduced a few new events such as splatterfest. We're excited and looking forward to RTC!!! I'd

like to shoutout Marcus Hsieh and Eric Kang especially for helping me with the MRF and AMR since there was an overwhelming amount of new members.

We still weren't allowed to do much for this month until the end of the month from September 22nd when club fair took place. Obvsiouly, this was a pretty slow time for us but we had one of our biggest events of the term which was the Club Fair. The response was SOOO well received and we got about 200 responses JUST from club fair. Our first meeting was even more successful as more than 1/3 of the members that signed up were allowed to come and the rest said they would join us later. Already, we got some dues from some of the members which was great to see and we are slowly starting to get back into the new year with new members for Key Club!

las lomas

This month was another success for our club! We had our first official general meeting, where we presented a lot of information about Key Club (including what Key Club is, how KCI is organized into smaller components, how to submit volunteer hours, upcoming LLKC and D26S events, etc.)! That meeting had a high turnout, so it was great! Additionally, we've gotten a lot of new members since the new school year began. We then had a "Dancing Dogs" service event, where we made dog toys to donate to animal organizations. Our members and officers also attended the two Spirit Socials in preparation for Fall Rally North! I would say that our Member of the Month was Roi Choi. Ever since he joined Key Club this school year, he has attended all general meetings (including service events), introduced his friends to Key Club, attended all Division events, and more.

miramonte

This month, we had our club day and recruited over 100 new members! We also had our first meeting of the term and 34 were present.

monte vista

Monte Vista Key Club hosted two board meetings this month as well as a club meeting with 18 members present! Our members continued to attend all Division service events, such as the DWS 1000 Cranes. This past month, Monte Vista has been working with Athenian to hold a food donation drive. and will be holding a service event to make care packages early October. Monte Vista also held Club Fair and Monte Vista Key Club welcomed 45 new members into our community!

san ramon valley

This month our school had our club fair so we have been dealing with the new sign ups which we got about like 70 new people which is awesome! We were planning on having our first meeting last week, but it was homeoming week so we didn't have a good time to do it. Our first meeting is this friday, tomorrow. Sorry for the lack of participation, it should begin to increase once we have our meeting. Thank you to the club Secretaries for submitting a response in the "Club Snapshot" of the Monthly Report Form! Learn about what other clubs have been up to!

*response given by club President/VP with prompt of "What has the club you serve done well in during the past month?" due to lack of response in MRF.

I joined KeyClub through my friend Matt Ayabe. Initially, I joined keyclub to further boost my college app. However, after attending may events I came to see that keyclub is more than just service. I made many friends through keyclub and I really enjoy meeting new people and socializing. Helping the community is also very rewarding and keyclub makes this task fun and enjoyable. -Ivan Del Rio, Dougherty Valley

"I joined Key Club my freshman year of high school. I actually joined by accident. One of my friends asked me to come with him to a meeting and me having nothing else to do, decided to join him. At first I was planning on dipping after a few meetings, but realizing how the members there were not only so friendly but also shared the same core values that I live by made me stay in this amazing organization. I had so much attending different DCMs and DWS throughout the year and made many friends along the way" -Carter Soe, California

When and why did you join Key Clu

NOVEMBER FEATURE | 13

ovember Feature In freshman year, I asked my sister (a junior at the time) about what clubs I should join. The answers I got from her and her friends led me to believe the big service clubs at Dougherty Valley were either Interact or Key Club, and that Key Club was better than Interact. I joined Key Club, and served as treasurer of my school the following year, which really signaled my commitment to Key Club. My friends at the time were just as clueless as I was, so they joined Key Club as well, and are now extremely active members of the division! -Matthew Ayabe, Dougherty Valley

club a little after the club fair because a friend of mine was an officer and had ded that I join key club. Key club and it's events have helped me grow as a person me understand the bigger picture through all of the volunteer events that I have had to attend. Furthermore, key club has also introduced me to different people from fe, allowing for me to increase my understanding of people and their feelings, e with a sense of belonging and acceptance. -Diane Ting, Dublin

This was not a service event but it was still an AMAZING experience. Be part of the spirit team is EPIC and the hype that people showed us was unexpected completely. We met up at 1:30 about an 1 hour and a hal before the actual event and then the event happened. Regardless of h dead my voice is, I wouldn't have changed it FOR THE WORLD. I met th other members of the spirit team for the first time and got some sweet K Club merch which was excellent! Anyways, I cannot wait for the third a final spirit social and eventually, FRN! Let's get it Blue Devils!

RTC takes place in the mountains of Santa Cruz, at a campsite so out in the middle of nowhere that I didn’t have phone service until the ride back home. During RTC 2021 I was a part of the Girl Scouts, led by D8 LTG Miah C, and my group took first place in skits which was the highlight of my weekend. I spent my weekend getting to know the 10 Key Clubbers that attended RTC from D26S, and getting to know the 230+ others that went from divisions in Regions 9 and 17 with games, skits, and the campfire at the end. I attended the Service Projects workshop to help me with my position as my club VP & division SPC. Overall, the event went well and I was happy to meet so many new people!
